Sleeping With My Step Daddy-Chapter 61: "Reiji Obsession"
Chapter 61: "Reiji Obsession"
Kai (angrily): "Reiji, what the hell are you doing? I said I’m tired. Go to your room—I need to sleep."
But Reiji didn’t stop. He stepped closer, ignoring Kai’s frustration.
Reiji (smiling): "Then let’s sleep together."
Kai (firmly): "No."
He took a step back, but Reiji followed until Kai’s back pressed against the wall.
Reiji (softly): "Just one kiss, Kai. Please... I’ve waited so long. I want to taste you tonight—I can’t be patient anymore."
Kai’s expression turned sharp.
Kai: "Reiji, don’t piss me off."
He shoved him away, but Reiji grabbed his wrist tightly and dragged him toward the bed.
Kai’s eyes widened. "Reiji—what are you doing?!"
Reiji pushed Kai onto the bed and leaned over him. Kai’s heartbeat pounded in his ears as Reiji’s hand trailed down his exposed chest, the top buttons of his shirt undone.
Reiji (whispering): "You’re so soft..."
Kai didn’t say anything—but inside, he was spiraling. He could feel his whole body rejecting this touch.
This isn’t right. This isn’t love.
Only Bast had ever touched him like that. Only Bast had made it feel safe, real... wanted.
Suddenly, with all his strength, Kai shoved Reiji off. Reiji stumbled and fell to the floor.
Kai’s eyes welled with tears. His chest heaved.
He whispered, trembling: "Only Bast can touch me..."
Without another word, he scrambled off the bed, rushed to the door, yanked it open, and ran out of the room—leaving Reiji behind in silence.
Reiji stood frozen in the room, still trying to process what had just happened. He looked at the door Kai had slammed behind him, confusion and regret mixing on his face.
Reiji (to himself, quietly): "Why did he cry...? Was I too rough?"
He ran a hand through his hair, suddenly aware of the cold air hitting his bare skin. He quickly buttoned his shirt, guilt starting to creep into his chest.
Reiji (muttering): "I thought... he’d be happy. I thought if we were finally intimate, maybe he’d feel closer to me. But... he didn’t even want to kiss me..."
His expression twisted into concern as he rushed toward the door.
Reiji (softly): "I need to find him."
---
Meanwhile, Kai sat in the backseat of the car, his head resting against the window. The silence inside felt like a heavy blanket wrapped around his chest.
Driver (gently): "Sir... where would you like to go?"
Kai didn’t lift his head, just whispered, "I don’t know... Just take me somewhere peaceful."
The driver nodded respectfully. "I know a place."
They drove through the quiet streets of Tokyo, streetlights blurring as Kai blinked away tears. After a long drive, the car finally stopped at the foot of a serene hill park surrounded by trees and soft wind.
Driver (smiling kindly): "Sir... this place has a mountain view. It’s calm, quiet. Perfect for clearing the mind."
Kai slowly stepped out of the car, the cool breeze brushing against his skin. Without a word, he began walking up the path toward the highest point. The driver followed him at a distance, respectful and silent.
The stars sparkled above as the city lights faded behind the trees, and the wind carried nothing but the rustle of leaves—finally, a place where Kai could breathe.
Kai’s face flushed red, his body trembling slightly under the chilly night air. The driver looked at him with concern.
Driver (worried): "Sir... I think you have a fever. We should go to the hospital."
Kai shook his head weakly. "I’m okay... I just..."
His voice cracked, and he lowered his gaze. "I just miss someone. Someone too close to my heart..."
Tears welled up in Kai’s eyes, slipping silently down his cheeks as he whispered, "My patience is breaking. I can’t hold it in anymore... I need Bast..."
Just then, the driver’s phone rang. He stepped aside to answer.
Driver: "Yes, sir?"
Reiji (urgently): "Where is Kai?"
Driver: "He’s in the hill park, sir. But... he has a high fever. I tried to convince him to go to the hospital, but he refused."
Reiji: "I’m coming right now."
The call ended.
---
Kai sat silently on the grass, his arms wrapped around his knees, gazing up at the night sky. His eyes shimmered with tears, lips trembling as the fever blurred the stars above.
A few minutes later, Reiji arrived, his breath short from rushing. The moment he spotted Kai, his expression shifted from worry to urgency.
"Kai!" Reiji called.
Kai turned weakly, startled as Reiji rushed toward him. Without a word, Reiji pulled off his coat and gently wrapped it around Kai’s shoulders.
Kai blinked in confusion. "Reiji...?"
Reiji (soft but firm): "Are you crazy? Sitting here in the cold with no jacket? You’re burning up..."
He pressed a hand to Kai’s forehead, his brows furrowing deeply.
"You’ve got a high fever."
Kai tried to push him away. "Leave me alone..."
But Reiji didn’t listen. Instead, he carefully lifted Kai into his arms.
Kai (weakly): "Put me down..."
Reiji: "No. You need rest."
---
Kai drifted to sleep in the car, exhaustion and fever pulling him under. After a long drive, they arrived home. Reiji gently carried him inside, up the stairs, and into the bedroom. He lay Kai on the bed and wiped the sweat from his forehead with a cold towel.
When he reached to unbutton Kai’s shirt to help cool his body, Kai flinched and refused. Reiji backed off immediately and didn’t press further. Instead, he handed Kai some medicine and helped him drink water.
A little while later, Kai’s fever eased slightly.
Reiji sat beside him quietly, then whispered, "I’m sorry..."
His eyes stayed fixed on the blanket as he continued, voice filled with guilt.
"I didn’t know you hated being touched by me..."
Kai didn’t respond right away—he just turned his face to the other side, avoiding Reiji’s gaze.
Reiji sat quietly for a moment, then said in a soft voice, "Kai... I’m trying hard to win your heart."
Kai finally looked at him, eyes calm but firm. "You can’t win my heart, Reiji. So don’t waste your time."
Reiji’s expression faltered. "But we’re engaged... and we’re getting married soon. After marriage, will you still act like this?"
Kai shook his head. "We’re not getting married. I’ll talk to my dad soon. I’ll tell him I can’t marry you."
Reiji’s eyes widened, his expression twisting with disbelief. "You... love someone else, don’t you?"
Without hesitation, Kai nodded. "Yes."
Reiji blinked, confused and hurt. "Is it someone in America?"
Kai met his eyes and answered softly, "Yes."
Reiji looked down. "But... you never told anyone. It’s been two years, Kai. Don’t you think he’s moved on by now?"
A faint smile appeared on Kai’s lips, but it was full of longing. "No... he hasn’t moved on. I know he’s waiting for me."
Reiji swallowed hard, his voice barely a whisper. "Why didn’t you tell me this before?"
Kai didn’t reply.
Reiji slowly stood up, the weight of rejection pressing down on his shoulders. "Take a rest. I should go."
He walked to the door and paused for a second before gently closing it behind him.
Left alone in the quiet room, Kai stared at the ceiling, his voice no louder than a whisper.
"He loves me... and he waited for me. I know Bast is still searching for me."
Reiji sat alone in his dimly lit room, the echo of Kai’s words still ringing in his ears. His reflection stared back at him from the mirror—sharp suit wrinkled, shirt half unbuttoned, eyes lost in thought.
He leaned closer to the glass, whispering to himself, "Who is the man Kai loves so much? Is he better than me?"
His jaw clenched as he let out a bitter laugh. "Kai, you can’t reject me like that... I won’t accept it."
Reiji looked down at the engagement ring he wore, gently turning it around his finger. "We’re fiancés," he whispered, almost desperately. "No matter what, I’ll win you, Kai... even if it takes everything I have."
His eyes darkened with obsession, voice low and determined. "I promise... we’re getting married soon. And when that day comes, I’ll be your husband."
"And on that day, Kai..." he whispered, "I’ll do everything with you that I want."
His lips curled into a faint, bitter smile.
"You won’t be able to push me back. You won’t be able to reject me. You won’t be able to refuse me."
He gripped the edge of the vanity, knuckles white.
"You’ll have no choice... but to accept me."
The silence of the room seemed to grow colder around him as his reflection stared back—haunted, obsessed, and determined to make Kai his no matter the cost.
Meanwhile, Kai lay on his bed, finally letting his eyes close with a deep, exhausted sigh. For the first time in two years, his heart felt a little lighter—like a burden had been lifted.
He had told Reiji the truth. No more pretending. No more smiling when he wanted to cry. The weight of the unwanted engagement had finally started to slip from his shoulders.
"I did it... Bast," he whispered softly into the darkness.
A small, hopeful smile tugged at his lips. He didn’t know when or how, but he believed—deep in his soul—that he would see Bast again. And when he did, he would run into his arms and never let go.
But what Kai didn’t know... was that behind the closed doors of the mansion, Reiji’s obsession was already spiraling out of control. The soft smile Kai wore as he fell asleep was fragile, unaware of the storm silently building—of Reiji’s dangerous resolve.
Because Reiji... was ready to do anything to win him. Even if it meant destroying the person Kai truly loved.
