Sinner System-Chapter 550: Final Dungeon - Final Floor (Part 4)
I hung back with the rest of the party as the Apostles shot forward, taking the attack to a swarm of Greater Demons ahead of us.
The Demons charged at them in response, before several of them got promptly blown away as Ira unleashed a powerful, erupting blast of Ether towards them, several cries of pain ringing out.
Invidia vanished from sight as he used Stealth, before a sharp gasp rang out from one of the Greater Demons as a blade of Negative Energy burst out the middle of his body, piercing through his Core. The Greater Demon collapsed in agony as Invidia pulled the blade back out with a sharp twist, killing him.
As a Greater Demon targeted Superbia, driving her claws towards her as he closed in, she blocked the strike with her spear, before swiftly shuffling back and unfurling a vicious thrust of her spear towards the Monster’s Core. She triggered her Unstoppable Force Skill upon impact, blasting a hole through the middle of the Demon’s torso in the blink of an eye.
Dazed groans rang out as Luxuria swooped down towards a handful of the remaining Greater Demons and unleashed her Demonic Art: Bewitching Mist, before swiftly decapitating the disoriented Demons with blades of Negative Energy extended over her hands.
Several excruciating yells of pain then echoed out as Avaritia unleashing a blazing wave of flames and engulfed a few of the Greater Demons, before rushing forward and striking their Cores with her claws, shattering them to bits as she pierced through their skin and flesh.
A sickening crunch rang out as Gula grabbed a Greater Demon and lifted her up, before snapping her jaws shut around the Demon’s head, crushing her skull before ripping her head off her shoulders, blood spraying out violently and splattering across the ground.
An intense, electric spark and crackle burst out as Acedia coated his entire body in lightning and lunged at a Greater Demon, tearing through his torso and turning it to ash, ripping his Core out before crushing it to pieces.
Looks like that takes care of all the Monsters in this area.
"Great work, guys, way to go," I remarked with a smile, as they headed back towards me.
"<Thanks, Daddy>!" Luxuria grinned cheerfully.
Ugh...
"<This has been easier than expected so far, Boss, I thought there’d be more of them>," Mused Invidia thoughtfully.
"<I have to agree>," Added Superbia with a nod.
"<Well, considering how many Demons were in the Dungeons that appeared all over the world, maybe there just weren’t enough to spare up here? It could also be that the Demon Lord never expected this many of us to make it this far>," Suggested Ira in response.
"<If nothing else, he probably expected us Sentinels to kill more of you>," Chimed in Gula.
"<That’s probably the case. He could not have possibly anticipated that so many of you would get so drastically more powerful thanks to the Final Dungeon>," Pointed out Acedia.
"Hey, that’s a good point. It makes sense, considering how powerful the Sentinels were. A lot more of us would definitely be dead if it wasn’t for the boosts we’ve got. I doubt I’d have survived my fight if it wasn’t for Tailekinect," Remarked Jaden with a nod.
"Yeah...I’d be dead for sure," Muttered Ciel with a slight grimace.
"He probably wouldn’t have anticipated that you’d turn two of the Sentinels into Apostles of Sin either, not to mention the boosts we both got thanks to the bonus for acquiring all seven Apostles," Added Aria, as she met my gaze.
"Yeah, no way he could’ve predicted that when even I had no idea about it," I replied, before adding as I glanced at Avaritia, "How much further before we reach the Demon Lord? And how many more Monsters?"
"<I do not detect any more Greater Demons. There is a group of Archdemons a bit further ahead, followed by a smaller but more powerful group of Archdemons, and the Demon Lord is not too much further beyond that.
As for distance, we have covered approximately half the distance to the Demon Lord from the area we arrived in>," She informed me, after a brief pause to sniff the area ahead.
"Woah, we’re already halfway through this floor? I mean, even knowing that each subsequent floor in this Dungeon gets smaller and smaller, I didn’t expect such a significant difference. Doesn’t feel like it’s been that long since we started venturing through this floor," Responded Jaden in surprise.
"Well, I’m certainly not complaining. The sooner we end this, the better. Alright, Avaritia, lead the way," I remarked, giving her a slight nod.
"<Understood, Master>."
"It took us about ten minutes to get to this halfway point on this floor...which means we’re about ten to fifteen minutes away from the Demon Lord, the final battle of this war," Remarked Cleo, a determined gleam in her eyes.
"Yeah...and if we win, this’ll finally be over, this conflict that’s spanned well over a century," Replied Aria, a sense of tension falling over the group.
Yeah, this is it, it’s all led up to this. All the battles we’ve fought, the enemies we’ve faced, everyone who’s died, we’re fast-approaching the climax that all of it has culminated into.
"We’ve killed countless Monsters between us, we just need to kill one more," Chimed in Ciel.
"Well, that’s going to be easier said than done. We’ve never faced a Monster this powerful before," I responded with a grimace.
I’m also concerned about the Immortality Demonic Art he possesses. It’s evidently a superior version of Instant Regeneration, I just hope it doesn’t mean it’s impossible to kill him.
I suppose I’ll find out soon enough. Like Cleo said, it won’t be much longer before we reach him...
"<Master, the first group of Archdemons are not much further ahead, we should encounter them shortly>," Remarked Avaritia, as her nose twitched.
"Got it. Alright, guys, let’s do this," I declared, cracking my knuckles.
