Single Wish: Rise Of The Omniscient Paragon-Chapter 810 - 807: Cemetery
Chapter 810: 807: Cemetery
’I’m now a silver hunter huh?... Well, that’s what I expected.’
Corey was not surprised by the fact that he was directly promoted to the silver rank. In fact, it was what he expected because of what he knew.
"Personally, me and several other individuals would have loved to give you a gold badge because of your performance back then, the rules state that we cannot do that."
"You have not gone on any hunt, and despite your talent, we still don’t know how you’ll perform in an actual hunt."
"Also, you need to build up your... hmm... Let me call it your CV. You need to have reasons why you deserve a gold badge, because gold hunters are not your average hunters at all."
"A Gold Hunter is basically a high ranking hunter."
Corey crossed his legs, and tapped the side of his face with the same indifferent expression.
"And the second opportunity is meant to give me an opportunity to increase my rank to gold. What mission am I taking?"
Rhael’s flashed at Corey’s calmness, and he did not know why, but he was beginning to feel a budding anticipation for what Corey was going to bring to the association.
’If he has combat experience and he’s not unlucky, he’ll definitely be up there in the association... and maybe even in the kingdom.’
Rhael cleared his throat, "Before I can give you the details, you’ll need to make an oath, swearing on your name that you’ll not speak of or attempt to speak of the details of the mission or the mission itself to anybody."
Rhael then brought out a blue orb with a milky white cloud in it.
Corey raised his brows slightly at the presence of the orb.
During his time in the Underworld, he got to know of artifacts that one could swear an oath on.
They were usually called Oath Artifacts, and although their powers varied, they were a different means for people to make oaths or binding vows without relying on the Universal System.
’I didn’t expect them to have an oath artifact... That’s interesting.’
Corey thought with a light smile as he observed the blue orb.
"Drop your blood on the orb, and make the oath."
Corey looked at Rhael, and he saw him handing over a silver needle. Corey looked at it, and he shook his head.
"I have my own needle."
Rhael gazed at him for two seconds, and then he nodded.
Although Corey could not sense anything unordinary about the needle, he still chose not to be cocky and took the safe route.
Using his needle.
Who knew if the needle possessed an ability or power that could affect despite all his talents and uniqueness?
Corey stretched out his right hand, and then he created an illusion of him bringing out a golden needle from his system storage space. However, he was merely creating a golden needle using Elemental Runeweaving.
’I’m starting to believe that the power of illusions has to be one of the most terrifying, if not the most terrifying power in existence.’
’I can literally stab him, and he won’t know until my blade pierces his chest.’
’Infinite Mirage is the highest and most complicated illusion skill I saw in the Underworld. If I ever meet somebody whose talent is to create a perfect illusion like what my Tri-Pupil Eyes can do, I have to be careful.’
’Very careful.’
Corey furrowed his brows slightly as he had these thoughts, and then he pricked his hand with the golden needle.
His drop of blood landed on the blue orb, causing it to emit a blue glow.
’Hmm... I would have loved to use Infinite Mirage on me dropping my blood on the orb, but it won’t be able to affect the people watching in another room.’
’Using an illusion to create a mere golden needle is not going to lead to a big problem compared to me using an illusion so as to not make an oath.’
’I’m sure that if I do that, other hunters will come here immediately.’
’Hmm... I wonder if Infinite Mirage can reach a point where I can place an illusion where even formations and arrays can be fooled.’
’... But won’t that be me fooling runes?’
’Can the power of illusions also fool runes?’
Majority of Corey’s mind was bamboozled by the thoughts he had because it was something that seemed unfathomable in his mind.
He had a feeling that most had no idea, but runes were the foundation of power.
At least, that was what he believed. He was not sure yet since he was still an astral being, an insignificant being in the grand scheme of things.
But he had a feeling that he was right.
’But I don’t think I’ll know this until I reach a realm of power I can’t even begin to fathom.’
’But it’s a good thought regardless.’
Not even a second had gone by after the orb started glowing as Corey had these thoughts, and with the same indifferent expression, he spoke.
"I, Ryan Reynolds swear that I won’t speak of the details of the mission I’m being given to anybody."
The glow of the orb slowly receded, and Rhael nodded with a pleased smile as he kept the orb.
"That’s good. Now, I can tell you about the mission we’re about to assign to you."
Corey leaned back, and as usual, he said nothing in response.
"You’ve surely heard the rumors of the association headquarters having lower floors beneath, right?"
Corey nodded, but inwardly, he was a little bit surprised by Rhael’s words.
"Some say that we have a dangerous monster sealed beneath us. Some say that we have a priceless treasure, while some say we have a hidden and powerful weapon... But they’re all wrong."
Rhael paused. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
"What we have is a system trial beneath us."
Rhael paused once again to see Corey’s reaction, but when he saw the lack of Corey’s reaction, he frowned.
"Do you know the significance of a system trial?"
Corey shook his head, "To be honest, I’ve never entered or encountered one before."
"Hmm." Rhael rubbed his beardless chin, "Well, that’s to be expected. System trials are not stones you find just anywhere."
Rhael shook his head with a light sigh, "Anyway, we want you to enter the system trial. However, you’ll only be entering the outskirts of the system trial."
"The outskirts?" Corey raised in brows in confusion.
"Well, the system trial takes place in a cemetery. It’s basically a trial about the dead, or should I say death?"
