Chapter 811: 808: Meeting Once Again

"Well, the system trial takes place in a cemetery. It’s basically a trial about the dead, or should I say death?"

Corey’s brows rose in surprise when he heard this because it was not what he was expecting to hear.

’Well, not like I had any idea on what the system trial was. But for it to be something related to death?... That’s surprising.’

He decided to ask a question, "So what is my mission? What am I to do in the system trial?"

Rhael leaned back into his chair, and threw Corey’s silver hunter badge at him.

Corey caught it with slightly furrowed brows, but in the next second, a hologram appeared above it.

2. Recover the corpses of fallen hunters.

4. Return with proof of completion.

----

When Corey went through the details of his mission, he frowned because he noticed some inconsistencies.

’Rhael said that the system trial takes place in a cemetery, but from what I can see, that doesn’t seem to be the case.’

’The location says The Whispergrove, which was once a peaceful village cemetery.’

’But in the mission brief, it says an ancient burial site in the outer ring of the sacred woods.’

’Which means that the Whispergrove is located in the outer ring of the sacred woods. Which means that the system trial takes place in the sacred woods and not in a cemetery like Rhael said.’

’If I’m right, then why did he say that the system trial takes place in a cemetery? Is there another meaning to it or am I the one that’s wrong with my deductions?’

’Hmm... I guess I’ll just have to take the mission and figure out what the truth is.’

Corey clenched the silver badge, and then the hologram vanished.

He looked at Rhael, "Is there anything I should know about the mission?"

He could have decided to ask about the slight inconsistency he noticed, but he chose not to. He believed that once he entered the system trial, he would be able to figure out the truth and unravel whatever mystery was behind the trial.

Rhael remained silent for a few seconds, and then he crossed his legs, "Normally, the outskirts of the sacred wood as you’ve read, is usually safe... Or at least, we made it safe to a certain degree."

"There is a cemetery in the outskirts of the sacred woods, and for some unknown reason, they dead have started walking again."

"This has made it difficult for even an average silver hunter to hunt in the outskirts of the sacred woods because every walking dead is as strong as a Tier 3. There are also walking deads that can kill Tier 4s."

"The association wants to know the reason for this change in the trial because it’s very troubling."

"You’ll be moving with a group of reputable hunters. Most of them are Tier 4s, and all of them are Gold Hunters."

"So I’ll be the only Silver Hunter in their midst. And I’ll be a new silver hunter too." Corey spoke with a light smile, and then he shrugged.

"Well, it doesn’t matter. I’m sure it’ll be interesting regardless."

Rhael chuckled softly, "Interesting? That’s a word I rarely hear from hunters. Especially from high ranking hunters."

Corey smiled, "But I’m not a high ranking hunter."

Rhael smiled, "True."

He then stood, "You’ll be contacted in three days through your badge. Make preparations, rest up, and get stronger if possible. Even the slightest advantage might save your life. Every hunter knows this."

Corey smiled lightly, "Who are my teammates going to be?"

"Team Thirteenth Dawn. They’re a gold rank team. You can make your findings before meeting up with them."

"They’re not available at the moment, but don’t worry about them. They’ll make sure to protect you from harm."

"Just do your best not to die, and come back in one piece. We’ll then review everything you guys went through in your mission, and see if you or any other member of the Thirteenth Dawn deserve a promotion."

Corey said nothing but nodded his head in response to Rhael’s words.

"Alright. I’m off. Make sure not to die, Ryan Reynolds."

Rhael walked out of the room, and then the room went quiet.

Corey looked away from the door, and then he leaned back into his chair. He observed his silver badge.

The badge was palm-sized and forged from polished moonsteel, one of the rare metals in the Astral Grade.

Etched deeply into its surface was the embles of the Miracle Hunter Association- a silver spear piercing through a spiral cycle, each ring of the spiral darker than the last.

"Hmm. That’s slightly surprising. There’s no tracking formation in it, or a defensive formation, or an offensive formation. It only has my personal details, and also the details of any mission I take."

"The formations in it are not complicated, compared to that of the-"

"Underworld?"

A familiar female voice suddenly drifted into his ears, and Corey’s eyes turned sharp as his head snapped to the right.

"Calm down, and don’t make a fuss. Can’t you recognize my voice anymore?"

A hand pressed down on his shoulder, and Corey was stunned by the amount of power that was contained in the hand.

It felt like he was a mortal teenage kid trying to carry a damn car.

’What the hell?’

Corey frowned deeply, and then he looked at the source of the hand.

When he did, his eyes widened in disbelief because it was the woman who served him refreshments and had been standing beside him without saying a single word.

In fact, he had completely ignored her presence and forgotten that she existed because from what he sensed, she was just a Tier 0.

But now?

He could sense her true power and self.

He frowned deeply, "Pamela."
