Chapter 649: 649: Heart

After the thing in the Ancient Ruins had been resolved, Yue Xuexia was preparing to leave this broken dimension when suddenly, her system which used to have no form unless Shen Jueyang was using it as a medium suddenly transformed. It turned into a fist size white fluffy chibi orca floating around her.

The Moon Goddess was stunned for a moment and called, "System?"

[I know that the host will recognize me. I have upgraded and can accompany the host in this form. Can you give me a name?]

Yue Xuexia stared at the ball and said, "How about Qiuqiu?"

[Host, I only took this form because you like it but I don’t want to be called a ball!]

"Seeing how round and smooth you are that’s the only name I can think upon seeing you like this," said Yue Xuexia as she had long grabbed the small orca giving it a rub and a squeeze.

The feeling in her hands is so additive that she can hardly let go of it. It wasn’t until the sulking system now called Qiuqiu had noticed that it struggled to fly away from that pair of hands.

[Host before we leave you should check the treehouse your family used to live in.]

"Is there something in there?" asked Yue Xuexia as she flew down to the treehouse which she had instinctively protected when the dimension was broken.

In front of the door of the treehouse she hesitates to enter. Afraid that when she enters it she would see something that might traumatize her. Seeing her family’s deaths is already too much, she can barely forget it within her memories.

[Host, it’s alright. The house is empty. There is nothing in there.]

The Moon Goddess’s hesitation slightly faded when she heard the words of her system. She reaches out her hand to open the door only to see traces of people living in it. She walks around the house as if seeing the scenery that unfolds in the house. It seems that her family had lived comfortably in this dimension for quite a while. She checked the whole place and finally reached her parents bedroom. On the side table near the bed a letter was left behind addressed to her.

Yue Xuexia’s hands trembled as she reached for the letter.

She mumbles, "This is... Mama’s handwriting."

She carefully unfolds the letter and starts reading it. The contents of the letter are the following:

{To our beloved daughter Xue’er,

Sweetie, once you read this letter means that you have survived your life trial and our mortal clones have been killed. Do not grieve. We are still alive. The clones are just a wisp of our souls that remains in this realm while their origins are in the Immortal World.

Your life trial, I’ve only heard about it from your father. When you failed to ascend to Mastery Realm in the past your soul had been split into three. One of them remained in the Immortal world with us and she lived her life as Yue Xuehua. Two souls had gone beyond, one in the distant lower realm while the other from the world beyond. Your father, injured while protecting you during your tribulation, chose to chase after your soul that was lost in the Lower realm. He fell into a coma in the Immortal world as his soul accompanied you in the Exiled Star.

However, with his soul body injured he had barely found your grandmother’s reincarnation and placed your soul fragment in that bloodline. Your father created my clone born from your grandmother. It was a success. However, when he tried to do the same thing with your brothers, it failed. It continued failing until he used up his qi and fell into a deep sleep.

During his sleep his other self had lived as a mortal with my clone and so you are born. Your two sisters were unexpected but it was a delightful surprise. When a clone of your former husband had fallen in the Exiled Star, the Heavenly Laws of that world used him to drag you back to the world of cultivation.

As you become a cultivator your father’s soul wakes up. He had always been supporting you ever since then. Your grandfather’s clone was also created by your father so meeting him was destined from the start. However, before we head to the Cultivation Realm the Heavenly Laws inform your father about your life trial.

Thus, your father contacted me and also summoned my soul to this small world. We wanted to inform you of the situation when we arrived in the Cultivation Realm. But as if something was preventing us, it made sure you will not find us so easily in the Cultivation Realm. It even threw us ahead of time to the Ancient Ruin imprisoning us there until your life trial began.

To prevent the true deaths of your siblings, I had summoned my father, who is your grandfather’s real soul in this world. You might have felt his descent as he said he noticed you peeking at him. I’ve asked your grandfather to bring your sisters and father’s soul back to the Immortal Realm. Leaving only our clone in this world to get involved in the trial.

Even though it’s a clone we can always take over their bodies, we’ve been waiting for you to come to us. But it seems that we are running out of time.

Xue’er never grieves. The destruction of our clone didn’t have much impact with our real bodies. Your sisters are safe with us. We’ve also planned to send your grandmother here with their disciple, a child named Xia Baiyu, in case something happens.

We miss you so much, our daughter. Your sisters have always wanted to see you. Don’t worry about us. Take good care of yourself. Remember that we love you always. We will wait for you to come see us in the Immortal World.

Love Mama and Papa.}

Yue Xuexia started crying, making her system panic.

[Host, please don’t hate Qiuqiu. Sending your family away is all I can do to keep them away from your tribulation. Your real realm is at Tribulation Stage but the life trial for that realm involves life exchange. To protect them I can only return to the Immortal World.]

"Hua’s existence in this world. Was that your doing as well?" Yue Xuexia asked.

The system didn’t answer right away but this silence is more than enough as an answer to her question. But she knew that it is almost impossible to coerce someone of Yue Xuehua’s standing to bring her unless she chooses to come on her own like her father.

"What did she want in exchange for sending her remnant soul in this world?" Yue Xuexia asked.

[She wanted to hear some truth from the Immortal Sun Emperor himself. It was something about their past.]

"So whenever I lose consciousness the two of them talk? It was a surprise that Hua didn’t end up killing Jueyang." Yue Xuexia commented.

She had known most of the parts about the past of the two. Though there was indeed a scheme between the Fairy Queen and the Immortal Star Emperor, the relationship between Shen Jueyang and Yue Xuehua cannot be said to be peaceful. Yue Xuehua forced herself on Shen Jueyang because she likes him so much. On the other hand, Shen Jueyang married her for the sake of the alliance with the moon clan. After all, the Moon clan is an Ancient Clan in the Immortal World.

There was no trust nor love between Shen Jueyang and Yue Xuehua which the Fairy Queen had easily exploited causing a crack in the two people’s relationship even before they got along. If the Fairy Queen and the Immortal Star Emperor didn’t get involved with their lives they would at most become partners with no emotional feelings attached after all, Yue Xuehua admired Shen Jueyang while Shen Jueyang respected her as his wife.

Yue Xuexia upon meeting Yue Xuehua noticed that the latter’s obsession towards Shen Jueyang was due to unanswered questions. Maybe while she was out of the picture, Yue Xuehua speaking with Shen Jueyang had cleared all her obsession towards him.

"Now I understand why Jueyang would sometimes treat me as Xuehua. Because he already knew that Hua is within me and is thinking that maybe I am affected by her feelings for him. How laughable? I couldn’t understand the sentiment between feeling much less at emotions that I am not directly involved with." Yue Xuexia said.

The system seems to want to say something but is hesitant to speak. On the other hand Yue Xuexia carefully folded back the letter and kept it in her inventory to safely secure it.

Yue Xuexia noticed the hesitation of the system and asked, "What is it, Qiuqiu? Is there something else you want to tell me?"

[Host, do you want to take back your heart?]

This question caught the Moon Goddess off guard and didn’t immediately respond to give an answer. Instead, Yue Xuexia had fallen deep within her thoughts and the system was having a hard time reading her. The system remained silent quietly waiting for his host to give him a response.
