Shadows of the Deep Space-Chapter 1529 - 510: Hidden Motives
"Haha, don’t be mad. Actually, that rich woman is pretty nice to you, just a bit chubby."
The young man laughed and said as he noticed Su Ming was a bit annoyed.
"Enough with the nonsense, let’s go!"
Su Ming replied irritably.
"Alright!"
The young man responded with a grin.
Soon, the two left through the back door, heading into an inconspicuous nearby alley, walking further in.
At the end of the alley, a seemingly ordinary wall blocked their path.
Su Ming slowed down his pace, adjusting his collar.
The young man chuckled seeing Su Ming fussing over his appearance, then reached out to knock on several spots on the wall.
Clack!
The entire wall instantly split open.
Seeing this, a strange gleam flickered in Su Ming’s eyes. Indeed, the impersonation incident was not as simple as it seemed; it wasn’t just about money.
However, he didn’t show any reaction, instead reaching into his pocket to tap Celeste, indicating it was time to act. He then followed the young man inside, and the wall closed behind them.
Just then, Xia Lan appeared behind them, looking at the closed wall with a furrowed brow.
Su Ming followed the young man through the dim secret passage, twisting and turning, reaching a tightly closed door.
The young man pushed it open, leading them into a cluttered storage room, filled with shelves bearing various miscellaneous items.
Su Ming glanced around and followed the young man towards the main door of the storage room.
As they opened the door, the scene suddenly became lavish; they had entered a luxuriously decorated corridor.
The floor was carpeted in red, large-scale art hung on the walls, and the ceiling lights emitted a warm glow, clearly indicating it was some kind of club.
They continued forward, arriving at a staircase.
The young man led Su Ming up the stairs to the second floor of the club, where they saw soldiers dressed in white Exoskeleton Armor standing in the corner.
Su Ming’s gaze shifted slightly; this was definitely a base of the Heavenly Revelation Divine Country.
The young man led Su Ming towards the conference room.
At this moment, a man wearing a plaid shirt, with acne all over his face, approached to greet them.
"Kale, Su Ming, why are you guys just arriving now?"
"Isn’t it still early?"
Kale responded indifferently.
"Alright, Kale, come with me to move some stuff."
"I never get the good tasks, just this kind of crap. They call me every day for this."
"Stop complaining. This is a good thing, I’ve heard that the esteemed one has arrived."
"Ah, Su Ming, you go attend the meeting yourself, I’m out. I’m going to help move the stuff."
"Alright."
Su Ming continued ahead.
Soon, he saw a small conference room, with two burly soldiers standing at the door.
Just as Su Ming was about to take a closer look, he suddenly saw a man resembling him walking out of the conference room, heading towards him.
Seeing this, Su Ming quickly ducked to the side.
Just then, the imposter hummed a tune and headed towards the bathroom. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Witnessing this, Su Ming’s lips curled slightly upward as he discreetly followed.
Inside the bathroom.
The young man who looked remarkably like Su Ming stood in front of the washbasin, admiring himself in the mirror, narcissistically saying.
"Indeed, I’m the most handsome one."
At that moment, another similar face appeared in the mirror.
The young man gazed into the mirror, commenting contentedly.
"No matter what, it’s handsome. Whether it’s this face or—wait, why are there two faces?"
The man’s expression turned to terror, attempting to turn, but received a knife-hand strike to the side of his neck.
Thump!
The young man instantly lost consciousness.
Su Ming caught him, glanced around the bathroom, then noticed the window.
He dragged the young man over to the window, opened it, looked down, and saw it was an alley.
At that moment, Celeste also popped up and said.
"Let’s go, there’s no one outside."
"Wait, don’t rush!"
Su Ming raised his wristband, sending Xia Lan a message and location, then swapped clothes with the imposter.
Soon, he saw Xia Lan appear in the alley below, then he tossed the imposter out the window.
Xia Lan stepped forward, reaching out to catch the falling man.
Although she was unused to wearing high heels, her left foot twisted slightly, but she still managed a solid catch.
Seeing Xia Lan’s foot seem a bit twisted, Su Ming gestured to ask if she was alright.
Xia Lan shook her head, indicating she was fine.
Su Ming nodded, closing the bathroom window.
At that moment, Celeste puzzledly asked.
"Isn’t the person in hand? Why don’t we go?"
"Don’t rush, I want to see what kind of game they are playing."
After speaking, Su Ming left the bathroom.
Not long after, Su Ming returned to the entrance of the Council room, opened the door, and walked in.
The conference room wasn’t very large, but it was filled with people. About half were dressed elegantly, adorned with expensive watches and other items, while the rest were dressed less formally, but still looked like tough nuts.
Many people turned to glance at Su Ming, whispering quietly.
"This guy has scored quite a few big deals recently."
"Hmph, it’s just because of that face, nothing special."
...
Su Ming paid no mind to the murmurs, just found an empty seat and sat down.
