Secretly Married for 4 Years, He Regrets to Tears After the Divorce-Chapter 90: Sean Sterling Says Isla Griffith Is His Girlfriend
Wren Sutton got back in her car, took out her phone, and removed Adrian Lancaster from her block list.
At the moment, she couldn’t think of anyone better to persuade Jason.
There was no time to waste. She called Adrian Lancaster immediately. He didn’t pick up until the second call.
"Where are you?" Wren Sutton asked, her voice filled with urgency.
"Just get to the point."
Wren Sutton paid no mind to Adrian Lancaster’s cold, arrogant tone.
’When you ask for a favor, you have to know your place and be willing to humble yourself.’
"Jason is camped out downstairs from Isla Griffith’s apartment. He’s trying to force my best friend to date him and says he won’t leave until she agrees. You need to figure out a way to make him go away."
Adrian Lancaster scoffed internally, completely unmoved.
He couldn’t be bothered to get involved in Isla Griffith’s affairs.
"They’re both single. A man pursuing a woman isn’t a crime. Even the police won’t get involved, so why should I?"
"That’s exactly why I’m asking you for help. Given your relationship with Jason, he might actually listen to you."
Adrian Lancaster wasn’t buying it. "I have no interest in meddling in other people’s business."
Wren Sutton grew frantic. "Isla Griffith is my best friend, not just some stranger! Do it for my sake, please. I’m begging you."
"Her problems have even less to do with me."
Adrian Lancaster’s words left Wren Sutton choking, rendered instantly speechless.
’Then again,’ she thought, ’Adrian doesn’t even care about me. Why would he care about my best friend?’
But he was the only one who could solve this.
’If I hadn’t given Jason her contact info, maybe none of this would be happening.’
Overcome with guilt, Wren Sutton swallowed her pride and pleaded with Adrian Lancaster, "Please, I’m begging you. Help my best friend."
As she spoke, an idea suddenly struck her...
"If you step in and help, I promise I’ll delete that recording."
Adrian Lancaster wavered. "You promise?"
Wren Sutton saw a flicker of hope. "I promise. Cross my heart."
"Deal."
Adrian Lancaster hung up, stood, and headed out.
Just as he was leaving the private room, Sean Sterling came walking toward him. The two had arranged to meet at the club to discuss business.
"Something came up. I’ll be back as soon as I’ve dealt with it."
"Is it about the hospital?"
"No. Wren Sutton’s best friend is in a bit of trouble."
Sean Sterling’s brow furrowed slightly. "Isla Griffith?"
"You know her?"
"I know everyone who’s anyone in the entertainment industry. Besides, she’s your wife’s best friend."
Sean Sterling said just enough, his expression unreadable.
...
Wren Sutton waited patiently in her car for Adrian Lancaster. While waiting, she called Isla Griffith and told her to stay put upstairs and not to worry. She would handle everything.
Isla Griffith was worried. "Can you handle it by yourself?"
"I called Adrian Lancaster. He’s on his way."
Only then did Isla Griffith feel relieved.
Soon, Adrian Lancaster’s car came into view with another one right behind it. The two cars pulled up and parked side-by-side in front of Isla Griffith’s building.
The other car looked familiar to Wren Sutton; she thought it might be Sean Sterling’s.
Sure enough, a moment later, she saw Sean Sterling get out of the car.
Without a second thought, she quickly got out of her car and walked over to greet them.
Jason hadn’t expected Adrian Lancaster to show up. He looked at Wren Sutton and let out an incredulous, angry laugh.
"Mrs. Lancaster, what’s the big idea, calling your husband over?"
Radiating an intimidating aura without any sign of anger, Adrian Lancaster pulled Wren Sutton into his arms protectively.
"Jason, you’re scaring my wife."
Jason: "..."
"Forcing a woman to date you is ungentlemanly. That’s not your style."
Hearing this, Jason’s mood soured.
"Why do you two both think I’m forcing Ms. Griffith? I’m not! I just really like her and want to pursue her."
"I’m not here to argue with you," Adrian Lancaster said, his tone forceful. "This ends now. You’re to act as if you’ve never met Isla Griffith."
Jason wasn’t ready to give up.
He and Adrian Lancaster had just signed a contract that very morning. Their companies were set for deep collaboration in the future, and their relationship was only going to get closer. He didn’t want to ruin it over this.
"I genuinely like Ms. Griffith. I..."
"Isla Griffith will never say yes to you," Sean Sterling, who had been silent until now, suddenly interjected.
Jason turned his head to face him, meeting his sharp, icy gaze. His brow furrowed. "And what makes you say that?"
"Isla Griffith has a boyfriend," Sean Sterling stated firmly.
Jason didn’t believe it. "Impossible. She never mentioned one."
Sean Sterling’s expression remained unchanged, but his eyes, filled with warning, bore into Jason. "She and her boyfriend had a fight. That’s why she didn’t want to bring it up."
Jason was still skeptical. "Who’s her boyfriend?"
Sean Sterling declared authoritatively, "Me."
The single word, delivered with an overwhelming presence, stunned Jason.
Adrian Lancaster frowned. ’When did this happen? I didn’t hear a thing about it.’
Wren Sutton’s eyes widened in astonishment. She couldn’t believe it either.
But she quickly put the pieces together. This white lie was the perfect way to make Jason give up for good, far more effective than any amount of reasoning or persuasion.
Sure enough, beyond his shock, Jason was deeply disappointed. He felt like a fool and let out a self-deprecating laugh.
"So she has a boyfriend after all."
"That’s right. So, have some self-respect and stop harassing my girlfriend. Otherwise, don’t blame me for what happens next."
Jason didn’t know Sean Sterling, but he could tell the man was no ordinary person. His status was clearly extraordinary.
"Who exactly are you?"
"Who I am isn’t important. What’s important is that Isla Griffith is my girlfriend," Sean Sterling repeated, his powerful presence radiating mature, masculine charm.
Defeated, Jason looked up for one last glance at her window.
No matter how much he liked Isla Griffith, he would never be the other man.
A few minutes later, Isla Griffith ran out of the building and straight to Wren Sutton. The two best friends shared a knowing embrace.
Understanding Isla’s state of mind, Wren patted her back reassuringly. "It’s okay now. Jason’s gone. He won’t come back to harass you again."
After composing herself, Isla Griffith asked, "How did you convince him?"
She felt that Wren’s persuasion and Adrian’s intimidation alone wouldn’t have been enough to make Jason back down.
Wren leaned in and whispered something in her ear.
