Secret Wealthy Marriage-Chapter 68 - Harmony and Happiness
Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Harmony and Happiness
Chapter 68 -68: Harmony and Happiness
Bryan Hawkins rubbed Carolline Ruiz’s left thigh twice with his left hand and then patted it lightly, seemingly trying to comfort her after Camelia Hawkins suddenly mentioned Matilda Ferguson earlier. However, Carolline didn’t quite understand what Bryan meant.
After Bryan withdrew his hand, her heart continued to pound, not understanding the meaning behind his gesture. When she looked up at him, he seemed to be focused on eating his meal, so she lowered her head and continued eating.
Bryan’s grandmother was adept at smoothing out awkward situations, and she had quickly moved past the earlier incident.
After lunch, Bryan Hawkins’s phone kept ringing, but he ignored it. Instead, he continued to chat with Carolline and the two elders. His performance today greatly pleased his grandmother.
At three in the afternoon, Carolline had to leave to celebrate the holiday back at her home. Bryan naturally got up and assumed the responsibility of escorting her.
Seeing Carolline accept the snack bag, Bryan didn’t say anything. They got in the car and after Carolline said goodbye to Bryan’s family, he spoke, “In our villa, we have two big boxes of these snacks. Isn’t that enough for you to eat?”
“Ah?… I didn’t know.” Carolline was instantly stunned, not knowing there were snacks in the villa.
“Well, I guessed that might be the case. It doesn’t matter; you can take them home if you like them. As I travel all over the world, I’ll bring you delicious food from different countries in the future.” Bryan Hawkins smiled slightly.
At this moment, he didn’t know why he blurted out such a statement. Many years later, after traveling for several more years, he still felt empty deep down. It wasn’t until he decided to settle down in his home country that he realized what he truly wanted.

Carolline remained silent, but at this moment, she felt especially warm at heart. This could be considered an implicit promise, right?
Just having this kind of thought was enough for her.
“Have you decided where to eat tonight?” Bryan didn’t expect Carolline to answer his question. But as for tonight, he couldn’t attend her family banquet as her husband, which made him feel quite apologetic.
“I didn’t ask.” Carolline didn’t care about these things. Even if her parents were hosting this time, she wouldn’t ask too many questions.
“Alright, just call me if you need anything.” Even knowing that Carolline wouldn’t do so, and that there was nothing that could happen at a family banquet, giving such a reminder was essential.
“Ok. I know.” Carolline nodded her head.
They quickly arrived at the Ruiz family residence, and Carolline asked Bryan to drop her off at her own home first. Bryan watched her enter before driving away.
After arriving home, Carolline saw that Emily Hill was still there waiting for her, while Henry Ruiz had already gone to the previously booked hotel.
“Mom, you’re still home?” Carolline was a bit surprised to see Emily Hill. She thought she’d just quickly change into more appropriate clothes to avoid her grandfather giving her trouble about her attire being inappropriate or too casual.
Carolline had never been favored by her grandfather even from a young age. She knew that he used to like her father the most, but ever since her father married her mother, her grandfather became very critical of her mother. Her father naturally sided with her mother, and then her mother had difficulty getting pregnant for a while. When her mother finally did become pregnant, she gave birth to Carolline, a girl.
The grandfather preferred sons, but Carolline was a daughter, so naturally, her mother and her didn’t receive much love from him.
“Yes, I don’t have to cook or prepare anything today anyway. I’m just waiting to eat with the family, so once you change your clothes, we can leave together.” Emily Hill grabbed her bag and waited for Carolline.
Carolline quickly changed her clothes and went with Emily Hill to hail a taxi to the Sunrise Hotel.
Carolline didn’t know that the Sunrise Hotel was owned by the Hawkins family. Just as they arrived at the hotel entrance, Simon Carrington also arrived. As he got out of the car, he saw Emily Hill and Carolline.
“Auntie, Carolline.” Simon Carrington approached and greeted them warmly.
“Mr. Carrington, are you here for dinner too?” Emily Hill and Carolline didn’t know that Simon had been invited by their grandfather, so they thought it was quite a coincidence.
“Auntie, Mr. Ruiz invited me to join your family banquet. Didn’t you and Carolline know?” Simon Carrington was quite surprised, as he thought Carolline and Emily would have known.
“What?” Emily Hill was completely stunned, as she had no idea.
Carolline was also taken aback. Why did her grandfather invite Simon to their family banquet, an outsider? Of course, she and her mother never understood her grandfather’s actions in the past.
“Since Grandpa invited you, Mr. Carrington, please come in with us.” Carolline recovered first. As the guest of her grandfather, she and her mother didn’t have much say in the matter anyway.
The three of them went in together. When the elderly Mr. Ruiz saw Emily Hill and Carolline arriving late, he was clearly displeased. Just as he was about to scold them, he spotted Simon Carrington, who entered right after them, and immediately changed his expression, smiling and welcoming him.
“Simon, you’re here. Come in and sit down. Carolline, come and talk to Simon. Emily, go and chat with Bonnie and Natalie. As the eldest sister-in-law, you came so late. Even your two brothers and their families, who are so busy, managed to arrive on time!”
The elderly Mr. Ruiz scolded Emily Hill once again.
“Alright, Dad.” In front of Simon, Emily Hill obediently agreed.
“Simon, Carolline, come over here.” The elderly Mr. Ruiz called out to Carolline and Simon.
Carolline didn’t object and walked over to sit beside her grandfather with Simon.
Today, Jasmine Ruiz’s boyfriend from the imperial capital was not present. Simon Carrington thus became the old Mr. Ruiz’s honored guest, and Carolline enjoyed special treatment because of her association with Simon.
Carolline had never expected to be treated so warmly by her grandfather, and she still didn’t know it was all thanks to Simon.
Carolline was the type of person who would smile at you even if you treated her poorly, as long as you showed her a smile in return. Moreover, this person was her grandfather, her own grandfather.
No matter what, the elder Mr. Ruiz was her father’s father, and even if Carolline and her mother hadn’t been liked by him in the past, he gave them a terrific husband and father. For that alone, Carolline couldn’t bring herself to be too resentful toward the old man.
“Here’s a banana, Carolline.” The elderly Mr. Ruiz personally handed a banana to Carolline. Grateful for the gesture, Carolline looked at her grandfather and said, “Thank you, Grandpa.”
“There’s no need to be so polite with Grandpa.” The elderly Mr. Ruiz felt that Carolline was being overly polite.
Simon Carrington watched the heartwarming interaction between the elderly Mr. Ruiz and Carolline, and his belief in the old man’s earlier words grew stronger.
