Chapter 73: 73_1

[Detection of “5+ Level Biological Type ‘Ancient God class'” lifeform activity detected…]

[Correction! Detection of original Containment Subject “0-9 ‘Hunger'” activity detected, its revival has reached four percent and is continuously reviving!]

[Danger! Danger! Danger!]

[Request to activate “Bonfire Protocol” barrier! Request for “Bunny” anti-contamination and anti-psionic heavy firepower intervention!]

As this information appeared on the retina, a rumbling, deafening sound came from behind the Mist Gate, followed by several cylindrical metal tubes rushing out.

Dragging long tails of smoke, they homed in on the outstretched dark green hand under some unknown guidance.

Boom!

In the deafening blast, the hand of the Evil God that had been stretched out was blown up, to the disbelief of Calder and the others watching.

Meanwhile, from behind the gate, the heavy sound of metal tracks rolling over the ground could be heard.

“Hiss… What’s with this multi-turret god church?”

Colin drew in a sharp breath when he saw giant cannon-armed vehicles slowly emerging from behind the nine Mist Gates. Their surfaces were bristling with barrels, machine guns, and even missile silos!

They truly resembled mobile war fortresses.

At that moment, the thick cannon muzzles vibrated continuously and all calibers of ammunition poured down non-stop, aimed at the figure of the Evil God behind the dark green haze, maintaining uninterrupted fire suppression.

And on either side of these war fortresses, heavily armored “Bunny” soldiers, carrying grenade launcher-like firearms, continued to emerge from the Mist Gates and charged toward the outside, leaping off the castle.

“All teams, please note, evacuate all innocent personnel as much as possible when the revival of the original Containment Subject 0-9 ‘Hunger’ reaches seven percent!”

At the same time, as the flabbergasted group of Calder and the others listened, a series of repetitive, unfamiliar yet understandable voices rang out.

“Warning! ‘Bunny’ legion intervention underway, all irrelevant personnel quickly evacuate the battlefield area under the guidance of green lights.”

“Warning! ‘Bunny’ legion intervention underway, all irrelevant personnel quickly evacuate the battlefield area under the guidance of green lights.”

Up ahead, some humans wearing helmets with long ears, each holding a green, glowing stick-like device, were waving them back and forth at the sides of a smaller Mist Gate, seemingly gesturing for them to enter.

However, everyone hesitated, looking uncertainly towards Colin.

“Go!”

Colin didn’t speak, merely making a hand gesture, because explosions were everywhere; if they tried to speak, they wouldn’t be able to hear each other.

Glancing at the “Bunnies” pouring continuously from the nine gates, he collected his thoughts and led the charge forward.

The constant stream of information on his retina made him realize that neither side had yet truly unleashed their full power. The “Bunny” army needed to rescue people, while the Evil God on the other side was not fully revived…

If they really let loose and fought all out in a bit, Colin even doubted whether this town would still exist.

“No wonder the ‘Bunny’ lady told me back then that this kind of battle doesn’t need my direct involvement, just my investigation…”

Colin muttered, recognizing that a battle of this intensity was indeed not something he could join.

Never mind him, once the war reached a fever pitch, even those D-Level staff would be nothing but cannon fodder!

Those wearing heavy mechanical power armor, wielding large caliber firearms that exploded upon firing, labeled as “Bunnies” with nothing but two metal ears on their helmets, each of them was stronger than most present…

Not to mention, just the sheer thickness of their metal armor was enough to drive the crowd to despair.

A direct hit from the Second Order “Beast Transformation Syndrome” would overwhelm everyone present, yet it only left a not-too-deep imprint on their armor.

Covering them with a dozen or so intestines didn’t even budge them, the disparity in strength was simply beyond comparison…

Such a figure could probably charge into an army of “Beast Transformation Syndrome” and reap like an unmatched harvester – even standing still, it would take upwards of ten minutes to break their defense.

But now, suddenly, hundreds were being dispatched, and the number was still increasing continuously!

Clearly, their real target was not “Beast Transformation Syndrome”, but to deal with that incarnation of an Ancient God, and it also showed how highly “Bunny” madam valued that previously lost Containment Subject.

However, considering the massive figure tens of meters tall, such concern indeed seemed appropriate.

The sufferers of “Beast Transformation Syndrome” weren’t anything like the incarnation of an Ancient God.

“Just what level of clearance does ‘Bunny’ madam have as an employee? Why can she mobilize such forces?”

Colin felt she was even more mysterious and unfathomable than he had imagined.

If he had an army like that one, he wasn’t sure if he could take on the five superpowers, but sweeping through Africa was definitely within reach.

With these strong doubts, he plunged into the Mist Gate.

When they passed through the Mist Gate, Colin and his team immediately found that they seemed to be outside of Black Stone City, seeing the people who had just been carried out on stretchers and seeing various tents.

There were also several gates here, behind which civilians from Black Stone City were being brought out continuously.

“Lord Colin, those earlier… just what were they?”

Warden Calder approached, his voice unable to hide his lingering fear.

A group of individuals clad in thick armor conveying a powerful sense of oppression, row upon row of roaring metal creatures that could move on their own, everything that appeared was unprecedented for them.

‘How would I know? If I weren’t privy to some inside information, I’d start to suspect the five superpowers and the United Nations have come together for an attack…’

Colin turned around, looked at the faces gazing at him with awe, and said slowly:

“This is the rescue I promised.”

“Thank you for keeping your word!”

Hearing this, the crowd didn’t ask any more questions, all of them bowed together to express their respect and gratitude.

Colin was just about to speak when suddenly, the distant and ancient sound of bells rang in his ears once again.

The scenery around him quickly blurred at that moment, as if coated with one layer of mosaic after another, and soon it became a dim, independent spatial area.

But this time, the door leading to Miss “Bunny’s” office did not appear.

After a moment of haziness, when Colin came back to his senses, he realized he seemed to have returned to reality.

He shook his head; the familiar cabin, which had been absent for many days, felt somewhat strange, but this strangeness quickly faded away bit by bit.

The warm sunlight just happened to shine through the window, and two pigeons were perched at the window gazing at him, seemingly waiting for him to feed them.

The distinctive hustle and bustle of a modern city rose in his ears…

The sound of cars, people’s voices, and all kinds of other noises…

Colin sat on the bed, dazed for a while, somewhat mysteriously unable to differentiate between reality and the Other World.

After a while, his gaze gradually cleared, and he looked up to glance at the digital clock on the wall.

Afternoon, 3:00 PM.
