Chapter 87: "He is very unreliable,"

The upper north side of the city was a boisterous place with high-end hotels, bars, and nightclubs overlooking the oceanfront. Unlike the lower North side, this place was where the upper echelon of society and the wealthy hung around.

The Lee family had a popular restaurant and karaoke bar on the same street. One street over were two supertall high rise buildings with twisting frames finished with cold-bent glass.

The two buildings were especially eye-catching at night with simple floodlights illuminating the entire façade. The fifty-nine floors of both high rise buildings were a luxury hotel owned by the Hengxing group i.e. Luo family.

Luo Muchen glanced at the twin buildings as he got out of the minivan. When he lowered his gaze he caught a glimpse of two familiar black SUVs parking on the opposite street.

He immediately understood that his mother knew where he was. The fact that he was walking into his estranged father’s territory probably made his mother very nervous.

Qie Xieling saw Luo Muchen’s absent-mindedness but didn’t say anything. He had his own worries that was how to reject someone who never confessed to him without appearing narcissistic.

Lee Ya was truly the princess of the Lee family. When she stepped out of the minivan there was a line of men and women clad in formal wear ready to greet her and her guests. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

She led the way with her hair swaying proudly. They were led to a private room on the top floor and inside was already a group of rowdy boys and girls with some looking like they weren’t in high school anymore.

Li Na rushed over and hugged Lee Ya her face bubbling but It wasn’t from joy but that she was tipsy. She pulled Lee Ya over and Lee Ya grabbed Qie Xieling’s wrist out of nowhere pulling him along.

Before he could even say a word Qie Xieling was pulled to sit down next to her. Lee Ya’s friends seemed to understand the assignment because they didn’t alienate the people she came with.

Bo Ailun who wanted to sit next to Qie Xieling was pulled away by Tang Fei and Luo Muchen was suddenly surrounded by girls. The three girls weren’t left out either. They were pulled in on the fun and started to enjoy themselves.

A waiter poured out some alcohol and handed it to Qie Xieling but Qie Xieling shook his head in refusal.

"I can’t drink yet," he said but how could Lee Ya let him slip out of her fingers? He was turning eighteen soon plus this was her family’s karaoke bar so would report it?

It took her so much effort to bring him here and she wouldn’t miss this opportunity so she signalled Tang Fei and he sat up in a hurry.

"Come on Lin Lin, even a girl is drinking. Why can’t you? It’s only a small glass," he said while taking the glass from the waiter.

Qie Xieling had drunk before but had two sips at most. The first time he drank was when he took a sip from his dad’s wine glass without him knowing. He got away with it because it was just a sip. It burnt his throat but he especially like the sweet taste.

The second time was when he poured out a quarter glass and filled in the amount he had taken with water. He recalled his father yelling that this was a twenty thousand bottle of wine yet it lost its taste after opening it.

After that, he never tried drinking again. He pursed his lips his resolve shaken a little. It was just one glass so what harm could it do?

Luo Muchen rubbed the tip of his tongue against his canine tooth in annoyance. When Qie Xieling accepted the glass, he got up surrounded by a dark aura. He stood in front of the boy sitting next to Qie Xieling and said in a cold tone, "Move."

The boy wanted to scold the rude person but seeing this person’s dark expression and menacing glare, he got up. This private room was full of second and third-generation heirs of powerful families. If the face wasn’t familiar it was best not to say too much lest you stepped on a landmine.

He got up and Luo Muchen took the glass from Qie Xieling before it could touch his lips. He sat down and with his hand holding the glass at its rim he asked, "Arent you afraid your parents will find out when you get home."

Qie Xieling glanced at those long fingers holding the crystal glass and swallowed with his Adam’s apple rolling. "Just one sip. This much even," he said pinching the tip of his pinky finger.

Luo Muchen kept staring at him his gaze hot and intense like he was thinking about whether to let him drink or not. Irritated, Lee Ya interjected.

"Lin Lin, you do realise that you don’t have to listen to him, right? He is not your dad," she said but Qie Xieling’s response was unexpected.

"I can only listen to him because if I get drunk he would be the one to take care of me," he said and Lee Ya’s face darkened while replying,

"What about Bo Ailun? Can’t he take care of you?"

Qie Xieling pointed at his good friend who was already having a second glass while begging to sing next. "He is very unreliable," he said and Luo Muchen chuckled softly seeing this.

Bo Ailun was like the life of the party and he didn’t even care whether he knew any of these people or not. He would always fit in like a social butterfly.

"Here, just one glass," said Luo Muchen after taking a huge sip almost drinking half of it.

That turned out to be a very bad idea because just like when he ate sugar, Qie Xieling was as high as a kite. His energy level shot through the roof and several times he found himself singing with Bo Ailun and a couple of girls.

Luo Muchen especially loved watching Qie Xieling having fun. The only problem though was that he was left to sit next to Lee Ya. Thinking it was okay to leave Qie Xieling for a short moment he left for the bathroom.

In his mind, he thought he would be back in less than five minutes so what could happen in that short span of time? Unfortunately for him, someone took that opportunity to block his path. While he was washing his hands at the sink a man wearing a black suit suddenly entered and yelled at the few people inside the bathroom for them to leave.

As the sound of scurrying footsteps disappeared, he walked over and stood next to Luo Muchen. With his head half bowed he said, "Young master Luo, sir would like to have a word."

Luo Muchen ignored him. He grabbed some paper towels from the dispenser and wiped his hands.

While he was doing that the man continued, "The sir said if you don’t come he would call the president of GameX and report his son for underage drinking," said the man his voice respectful and calm like he wasn’t conveying a threat.
