Chapter 592: Meeting the family

"Hello... aunties," he said and the two laughed. Who was this brat calling aunties?

"He must have been nervous buying so much. Come come come. You can’t stand outside all day," she said while pulling at his arm.

Nana Qie wasn’t one to be outshined. She grabbed his other arm while fixing his hair. When he saw Wen Qinxi he greeted politely, "Hello uncle," but before Wen Qinxi could say anything Grandma Wen interjected,

"Forget him. Come chat with us old ladies."

Wen Qinxi, "..."

He scoffed before saying, "He is my son in law. Yours is over there," pointing at his husband standing at the deck in front of the grill but his mother waved him off.

"You are even more handsome than before," said Grandma Wen while Nana Qie dragged over a plate of pastries.

"Here have one. Your grandma over there made them herself," she said but before he could even reply one was shoved into his mouth.

"How is it? It’s not as sweet, right? Lin Lin told me you aren’t a fan of sweets just like your father in law," said Grandma Wen and Luo Muchen’s ears were almost dripping blood. This wasn’t going as he expected. They were all so enthusiastic. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

"Mmm, it is delicious," he said and these old ladies were so happy. They had found another one to force feed. If Qie Xieling was there he would have shivered in fright. Whenever he was with these two he would gain extra weight in no time.

Wen Danzhe leaned his head down at top of the staircase before turning back and yelling, "Lin Lin, your boyfriend is here!"

After that, he ran downstairs and Luo Muchen greeted him. Wen Danzhe was especially excited. He went into the kitchen and brought back a beer for him.

"Here, no need to be nervous. We are all family here," he said and the two ladies immediately started scolding.

"You want to get him drunk already?"

"He needs to eat first."

Wen Danzhe, "..."

"He is not a delicate egg. Here, don’t listen to them. Just a sip will be fine. Safe some face for this uncle," he replied only for the scolding to get worse.

Luo Muchen was about to take it but Nana Qie stopped him while Grandma Qie poured out some juice for him. He smiled apologetically and Wen Danzhe didn’t mind. Besides, his attention on this didn’t last. He was already looking at the packages on the dining table. He was curiously looking at them while jokingly saying, "You also brought your dowry?"

Luo Muchen, "..."

He hung his head in embarrassment while the two old ladies teased him. Unfortunately for him, the teasing only got worse when Qie Xieling came into the picture.

He felt a strange tension in the room. It was an intensity that made the hairs on his arms stand on end. He raised his head. At the top of the staircase, bathed in the soft glow of the sun rays seeping in through the window, stood Qie Xieling. His silhouette was sharp against the backdrop of the hallway, and Luo Muchen’s breath hitched.

Qie Xieling had changed. His hair, once unruly and falling into his eyes, was now cropped short into a wolf cut. It framed his face, accentuating his sharp cheekbones and the curve of his jaw. Luo Muchen’s gaze lingered on the exposed nape of Qie Xieling’s neck, where the hair tapered into a delicate point.

He was dressed casually in a black graphic t-shirt and a pair of army green shorts. He wasn’t like what he was used to but this version of him, the one with the tousled hair and the unguarded expression, was infinitely more captivating.

His heart raced as he took in the way Qie Xieling’s lips curved into a half-smile as if he knew the effect he had on him.

Their eyes locked, and Luo Muchen couldn’t tear his gaze away. There was something primal in the way Qie Xieling looked at him as if he could see straight through Luo Muchen’s defences. The intensity of that gaze sent a shiver down his spine, and he wondered if Qie Xieling felt it too.

Qie Xieling pursed his lips and gave him an air kiss that made him blush. Noticing his anomaly Nana Qie looked up and saw her grandson standing atop the stairs. She beckoned him over and said,

"Hurry up. Come down and greet your boyfriend. He has been waiting for you for so long."

Qie Xieling hurried downstairs and asked his nana to make way. He wanted to sit next to Luo Muchen but who would have thought these two would monopolise him? He was about to complain to his dad when his father came inside and grabbed his arm making him sit down next to him.

"Sit here," said Qie Ranzhe and Qie Xieling’s head drooped. If he had a tail it would be drooped too. He sat down but his gaze was constantly on Luo Muchen like he was the only one in the room.

"Are you okay?" he mouthed but before Luo Muchen could nod his head Qie Ranzhe blocked his view with a magazine.

Qie Xieling, "..."

Wen Qinxi glared at Qie Ranzhe and he had no choice but to behave himself.

"How about some introductions," suggested Wen Danzhe while sitting on the armrest next to his mother his leg crossed over the other.

"Go sit down over there," complained his mother but he refused. That couch was too far. He wanted to sit where all the drama was happening plus it was fun watching Qie Ranzhe’s funny expressions.

"Don’t worry about me. I am very comfortable," he said while raising his beer. His mother’s lips twitched. Who was worried for his comfort?

"Is there a need for introductions though? You must know everyone here?" said Wen Qinxi but his mother in law jumped in and introduced herself.

"I am Lin Lin’s nana. That cold-faced man’s mother so you can call me Nana too. Nana or Nana Qie is fine. Or even aunty," she said.

"Ma," said Qie Ranzhe and Wen Danzhe pursed his lips stifling his laughter. He wasn’t the only one. Qie Xieling wasn’t as polite. He laughed out loud only to meet his father’s terrifying glare. He stopped laughing but anyone could tell that he was struggling to contain himself.
