Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 57: "Gege let me go,"
Never in his entire life did Qie Xieling ever think that he would be overpowered by Luo Muchen. Ahhhh, it made it seem like his entire holiday of living in the gym with his dad was useless. How could he be put in such a precarious situation by this bookworm?
Qie Xieling could already hear the laughter and giggles coming from the rest of the class thus he could only give up. If this continued he would surely lose face.
"Gege let me go," he said while patting Luo Muchen’s shoulder.
Luo Muchen’s peach blossom eyes curved slightly with a hint of mischief in them. He tilted his head slightly to look at Qie Xieling’s face and said, "Where are your manners?"
Qie Xieling gritted his teeth and swore that he must have owed Luo Muchen something from his past life.
"Gege please," he said and Luo Muchen let him go just as the bell rang. Qie Xieling tried to brush his fluffy head of hair that had turned into a dishevelled mess while glaring at Luo Muchen. Others would feel uncomfortable or even scared if he looked at them like that but Luo Muchen blinked his eyes looking very innocent.
He was calm on the outside but on the inside his heart had already melted and his chest felt mushy. He rubbed his itchy ears when he recalled the way Qie Xieling called out gege. To mask the emotion that was about to spill over and show up on his face, Luo Muchen took the love letter from the senior and started doing grammatical corrections.
Qie Xieling’s eyes widened as he grabbed the love letter from Luo Muchen’s clutches. If he had to return this letter to her, wouldn’t it be more embarrassing for the girl? That would leave such a psychological shadow and she might never ask anyone out ever again.
Just as he grabbed the letter from this cold-blooded young man suffering from straight-man cancer he heard teacher Zhu calling out his name.
"Xieling! I knew you couldn’t go a day without starting something," said Teacher Zhu and Qie Xieling tried to hide the letter but who knew this four-eyed teacher’s vision was so sharp? Were those glasses for aesthetic purposes?
"That. Bring it here," said Teacher Zhu and Qie Xieling tried to play dumb.
He pointed at his chemistry notebook and asked, "This teacher?"
Teacher Zhu gave him a look that seemed to say ’boy, do I look stupid to you’. Qie Xieling saw that the situation was bad so he crumbled the paper and was about to eat it when Luo Muchen stopped him.
Who knows where that filthy paper had been plus the girl had drowned it in so much perfume that you would think that she had doused the entire bottle of Chanel number five on it.
Qie Xieling retaliated by stomping on Luo Muchen’s foot but who knew the class president was stubborn? He wouldn’t let his hand go.
"Xieling would you like me to call your dad," said teacher Zhu and Qie Xieling’s lips curled slightly. His dad might even let him get away with it but teacher Zhu quickly caught up and said, "Okay, I will just call your father then."
Qie Xieling: "..."
How hateful was this man? Qie Xieling got up reluctantly and walked over with his head lowered. When he passed by Bo Ailun’s desk his so-called friend made a fist pump gesture and Qie Xieling almost rolled his eyes.
When he stood in front of teacher Zhu he stretched out his hand to give him the hot pink paper with sparkly hearts drawn by a glitter pen.
Teacher Zhu didn’t accept it. Instead, he said, "We have been learning about chemical reactions recently but there is one reaction that is indeed chemical but most would equate it to emotions and feelings that we haven’t and won’t talk about in this class. A chemical called dopamine is produced by the ventral tegmental area of your brain," while gently tapping at Qie Xieling’s head.
"That chemical binds to dopamine receptors in your neurons till it floods your brain with enhanced feelings of bliss resulting in one writing such a fragrant love letter," he explained further. Ninety per cent of the class had no idea what he was talking about but Luo Muchen did. That was the first thing he researched when his mother made him aware that he wasn’t sick but had a crush.
Qie Xieling had on a ’what the fuck’ expression. He understood nothing. All he understood was that the entire class found it amusing and were laughing.
"Read it to us," said teacher Zhu using Qie Xieling as an example to teach the others not to fall in love early.
Qie Xieling: "..."
"Uh teacher Zhu I didn’t write thi-," he said but teacher Zhu’s response had him in a stupor.
"Or would you rather read it in front of your father," said teacher Zhu while sitting down at the corner of the teacher’s desk.
Qie Xieling lowered his head as he straightened the paper. The words in this letter were very affectionate and embarrassing to say. Qie Xieling licked his lips anxiously while glancing at the teacher.
Teacher Zhu was especially encouraging. He gestured for him to carry on and Qie Xieling almost cried tears of blood. This must have been his retribution.
He bit his lips as his thumbs pressed the paper till his nails turned white. After preparing himself he exhaled and started reading. He deliberately skipped the name the letter was addressed to but teacher Zhu stopped him.
Qie Xieling’s hands trembled slightly as he glanced at Luo Muchen at the back of the class. ’Shit,’ he swore internally before starting again through gritted teeth.
"... Dear Muchen gege," he said and the entire class broke into a burst of thunderous laughter. Even Bo Ailun struggled to keep his face straight. It was only two people who didn’t find it amusing and that was Lee Ya and Luo Muchen.
Luo Muchen’s breathing stagnated with his cheeks burning hot. He was subconsciously squeezing the barrel of his pen his gaze not straying from Qie Xieling. Teacher Zhu forced them to quiet down and Qie Xieling cleared his throat before continuing. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"... It’s been months since I first met you. I was okay with watching from afar but my feelings for you have grown stronger to the point of losing sleep so... so I just wanted to let you know that I like you. I don’t expect you to respond to me. I just want you to know what’s in my heart."
