Chapter 56: "Shameless"

Luo Muchen cut him off saying, "It’s fine, I just... I just want you to treat me more like a friend than an enemy," but that wasn’t all he wanted to say.

He wanted to say, "It’s fine if it’s you taking pictures."

Qie Xieling was in awe. Wasn’t he nice enough to Luo Muchen? Yes sure he didn’t treat him the same way as Bo Ailun but he did treat him a little close yet distant at the same time. Was it really that important to him that he treats him like a friend?

"What do you mean to treat you like a friend? How am I not doing that right now?" asked Qie Xieling while turning his body in Luo Muchen’s direction. Their knees touched as he looked into Luo Muchen’s eyes like he really wanted to know the answer.

Luo Muchen didn’t expect him to ask that but he was more than ready to answer. Struggling to ignore the itchy feeling from where their bodies were touching he said, "You treated me like air more than half of the time ever since I met you and you prank me all the time. You don’t reply to my texts nor do you even invite me to lunch. You also don’t even take pictures with me," and Qie Xieling’s brows furrowed after being bombarded by so many grievances. Damn, he thought this was about a picture but it turns out it was more than that.

Qie Xieling suddenly realised he was no different from a bully. He messed with Luo Muchen at every turn but didn’t give him a sweet jujube fruit after that so obviously he would be dissatisfied.

The issue though was that he really enjoyed messing with Luo Muchen so much that it had become a habit. He couldn’t give that up at all thus he had no choice but to treat him better.

Qie Xieling ruffled his hair in frustration before saying, "Fine fine. I will treat you better, okay?"

Luo Muchen was more than satisfied. As long as he could get at least half of the benefits Bo Ailun gets then that would be good.

Qie Xieling took out his cell phone and turned on the front camera. "Here, let’s take a picture," said Qie Xieling and Luo Muchen was a little surprised. This kind of progress was happening a little too fast, wasn’t it?

He bit his lower lip moving closer to imitate the exact posture those two had in the pictures he saw earlier.

Qie Xieling saw Luo Muchen pressing his head against his and couldn’t help but criticise. "Why do you have to be so close? Move a little further away," he said but Luo Muchen was a little dissatisfied.

"You two were so close in those pictures so why is it so different when it comes to me?"

Qie Xieling, "..."

"Aish, is this a competition? Fine fine you want close? Then is this close enough?" replied Qie Xieling while pulling him closer so close that his lips almost touched Luo Muchen’s cheek.

Thump!... Thump!... Thump thump thump thump!

That was the sound of Luo Muchen’s heart beating so fast. It was so loud that Luo Muchen was afraid Qie Xieling would hear it. He held his breath the entire time as Qie Xieling took several pictures while encouraging him to smile which he didn’t or in other words couldn’t.

After the torment was over Luo Muchen released his caught breath. He almost thought that he was going to faint from all the excitement.

The three boys headed in the direction of the small shop. While on their way there Luo Muchen happened to spot a group of boys and a girl on the field.

He could easily recognise them even though they were a bit further than what average human vision could see but Luo Muchen’s vision was beyond average.

That was Lee Ya standing with the school tyrant and his cronies. She didn’t look like she was in distress but rather like she was supposed to be there.

He didn’t know if the school tyrant was asking her out or if she was just chatting with them. Either way, it was none of his business so he didn’t alert the two people arguing beside him.

When they got to the small shop it was quite empty so they got noodles from the vending machine and sat on the in-store benches.

If anyone asked Luo Muchen what his most cherished day at school was, he would mention this day.

It would have been the most perfect memory if it weren’t that the next day Qie Xieling did the most unexpected thing. Luo Muchen soon learnt that the picture that was now the background picture of his laptop didn’t come for free.

Qie Xieling started a courier service delivering love letters to Luo Muchen’s desk. What was he charging each client one might ask? He was charging them a follow on his social media pages across all platforms. Each letter meant he would get three follows on three different platforms. If you like thirty or in other words ten posts on each of his pages he would deliver the gift as well.

If Luo Muchen refused the gift which he always did, Qie Xieling would return it unless it was food. That wouldn’t be returned. It would end up in his and Bo Ailun’s tummies. The two had learnt to capitalise on Luo Muchen’s popularity that is to say Luo Muchen helplessly watched as his crush sent love letters from others to him. To make matters worse, Qie Xieling would read them to him and then ask if he was interested.

One time Luo Muchen received a very expensive watch from a senior which could only have been stolen from home and Qie Xieling was so moved by this jiejie’s sacrifice that he wanted Luo Muchen to agree.

Luo Muchen’s response then was that he would never date a thief. Qie Xieling chuckled and said, "Then would you be friends with a thief because I am about to steal this jiejie’s heart."

Before he could even get up Luo Muchen pulled him back and put him in a headlock. Qie Xieling’s eyes were so wide and he couldn’t help but cry bloody murder. Never in the history of knowing each other had he ever been in this situation. He thought Luo Muchen was an honorary hippie that didn’t condone violence.

Now he was in a very hard-to-free-himself position begging Luo Muchen to let him go.

"Uh ow... class president, I was wrong. Please let me go," he said in a muffled voice while sniffing that familiar tantalising scent.

"Call me gege and I will let you go," replied Luo Muchen and Qie Xieling was so shocked that he thought he heard wrong. He could say it to anyone else but why wouldn’t the words come out when it came to saying it to Luo Muchen?

"Are you crazy? Fuck no," he replied struggling to free himself even more.

"Then we stay like this till the teacher comes. I am the class president so who between us would be punished?"

Qie Xieling, "..."

"Shameless," he yelled his face red. Who knew that his deskmate was such a pervert?
