Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 559: "Be my wife. "
Luo Shih felt her heart quicken as she leaned against the wall, the cool surface a stark contrast to the heat that radiated from her skin. Hei Xiwen, with his piercing gaze and commanding presence, pressed his hand against the wall beside her, trapping her within his reach. Despite the flutter in her chest, she couldn’t deny the allure of his overbearing nature. She had been hurt in the past and never wanted to be in another relationship, especially with a younger man. She didn’t want her son that she had wronged to share his inheritance with another child and besides she had no energy to raise another child. This was the very reason she rejected Hei Xiwen but this man was persistent. Time and time again she rejected him but he kept coming back. She finally stopped actively rejecting him and would go on dates with him out of sympathy. Soon sympathy turned to interest so if she wanted companionship she wouldn’t reject him.
Companionship eventually turned to hook ups that happened more often than she wanted to admit but she would never claim him nor would she blame him if he moved on.
Once she took her clients to a night club that they wanted to go to. Coincidentally she saw Hei Xiwen with a younger woman perfect for his age. They had had a fight two months ago and she had told him not to come find him anymore.
So when she saw them dance together it hurt a little but she told herself that this was as expected because he was a young man who possibly wanted kids in the future something she would never do. She didn’t blame him for moving on, in fact, she was happy he was finally realising that she wasn’t good for him.
Who would have thought that he would rush up to her in the parking lot while she was walking to the car with her business partners? He was obviously drunk and mistook one of her business partners as her boyfriend. He made a scene and almost cost her a major deal.
She was so angry that she beat him up and he didn’t even retaliate. He kept telling her that he loved her and that the girl was just someone his men set him up with. It was then she realised that she couldn’t just push him away. He was going to hunt her down until she lost her sanity. She told him that she didn’t want to have kids and if he wanted them he should find someone else but he said he didn’t want to have kids.
This push and pull carried on for a few years until her son got kidnapped. She didn’t have any expectations of him but he actively began to help find her son. He had proved that he could be more than useful and he would do anything for her but still. She just couldn’t let him waste his time on an older woman like her.
"Be my wife," Hei Xiwen suddenly said his voice low and filled with a raw intensity that sent shivers down her spine. Startled by his unexpected proposal, Luo Shih’s breath caught in her throat, her eyes widening in disbelief. A rush of conflicting emotions surged within her, a mixture of desire and defiance warring for dominance.
"Like I said I don’t want kids," she said but Hei Xiwen was quick to answer,
"Neither do I. I already sent you my medical records... I had a vasectomy and don’t want to have kids. I just want you."
Luo Shih, "..."
Instead of acquiescing to his request, a defiant glint sparked in her eyes as she raised an eyebrow and sneered, a mask of indifference masking the turmoil raging within her. She refused to let that sway her, even though a part of her yearned to give in to the passion that simmered between them.
With a steely resolve, Luo Shih met his intense gaze and replied, "I didn’t ask you to do that."
"I know. I did it myself because I wanted to," he replied.
"I don’t belong to anyone not even you." Her words hung in the air making the atmosphere between them intense. He opened his mouth to say something but a familiar voice suddenly interrupted them.
"Mum," called out Luo Muchen as he stood a few steps away watching them getting cosy with each other.
Twenty minutes before...
Luo Muchen opened his eyes slowly, feeling a dull ache in his head. He tried to remember what had happened, but all he could recall was a flash of light and Qie Xieling telling him that he hated him for some reason. He felt like he had woken up from a nightmare and his entire body was trembling.
He looked around the room which was familiar to him searching for his phone. It was his bedroom in his late grandfather’s mansion.
He wanted to check the date and call Qie Xieling and beg him not to hate him. But he couldn’t find his phone anywhere.
He felt a surge of anxiety and frustration. He had to find his phone. The situation was very urgent. He pulled out the IV needle from his arm, ignoring the pain and the blood. He swung his legs over the edge of the bed and stood up, feeling dizzy and weak. He grabbed the nearest wall for support and made his way to the door.
He opened the door and stepped outside, hoping to find his mother and get his phone. Unexpectedly he saw his mother standing in the hallway, talking to a man. He did recognise the man’s voice,. It was Hei Xiwen, the only man who had been so persistent that he was starting to sound like a broken record.
He called out to her, his voice weak and hoarse. "Mum?"
Luo Shih and Hei Xiwen turned around, startled by his voice. They saw him leaning on the wall, pale and weak. His mother gasped and ran towards him, tears streaming down her face. She wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly, sobbing uncontrollably.
