Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 531: Sparks flying
Qie Xieling patiently waited for his name to be called. He had the most tokens when compared to everyone else and was expecting to be at the top of the list.
But soon Master Wang reached the first name but it wasn’t him. Rather it was Bi Yize. Qie Xieling chuckled softly finding it amusing.
He didn’t need to open his mouth and defend himself because Elder Xuan took over. The audience was also booing. They wanted to see how this ger that slaughtered a beast would fair against the cream of the crop. It was too bad that Luo Muchen wouldn’t be able to participate because they wanted to see that showdown.
Qie Xieling had no idea that people wanted to see him fight with Luo Muchen. He had already tried in the past and that was a fight he could never win.
"Master Zi, what is the meaning of this?" asked Elder Xuan and Master Zi sneered while looking at him at the corner of his eye.
Master Zi laughed softly before saying, "This... competitor broke the rules. It is obvious that he didn’t fight by himself to obtain all those tokens. The gap between him and the rest is too big. That is quite unfair, don’t you think?" his eyes intense and devilish. He turned to Master Bi and said, "Don’t you think so?"
Master Bi who knew by now that his days were numbered gritted his teeth sweat dripping down his forehead. He acquiesced to what Master Zi said. If Qie Xieling was allowed to win this competition and grab hold of the Grand King’s sabre then they were screwed.
Elder Song who had a very bad temper stood up and unsheathed his sword before placing it on Master Zi’s neck drawing a little blood.
"I will kill you where you stand in front of all these people," he said his eyes blazing with fury like a bull on the verge of rage.
Master Zi leaned his head back and as his Adam’s apple rolled it grazed the blade. He had known things could escalate to this but he didn’t think they would directly pick a fight.
He pushed the tip of the sword away from his neck and said, "But those are the rules."
Elder Song moved the blade back on Master Zi and Master Zi took a step back out of fear but it was pointless. Elder Xuan let out contemptuous laughter before saying, "Rules? You have desecrated the sanctity of this competition so the ones in your favour would come out on top. It’s no longer about the strongest but your prestige and pride. Rules? How laughable."
"You have two options. One, die here or two, let His Majesty participate."
Master Zi was good at gambling. This also meant that he knew when to quit. He would find another way to deal with Qie Xieling and his goons. He beckoned over one of his men who rushed over his legs almost giving in from fright.
"Fine," he said and he whispered a command. After five minutes, Master Wang who had shakily sat down was forced to get up again and re-read the names. This time Qie Xieling was first with thirty tokens and Bi Yize had seventeen. Indeed the gap between them was wide. Satisfied the audience jeered their blood gushing with excitement.
Qie Xieling who had finally got what he wanted glared at Master Zi who was being held hostage by the elders.
"There, satisfied?... You can let me go," he said and Elder Song pressed the blade even more against his neck his expression contorted with bloodlust in his eyes.
"Let him go," said Elder Xuan. Master Zi wasn’t for Elder Song to kill but Qie Xieling. Elder Song sneered before saying, "Count yourself lucky," while sheathing his sword.
"You should have killed me when you had the chance," said Master Zi as he casually wiped the blood on his neck. Elder Song clenched his jaw and took a step forward in a threatening stance but before he could reach him the audience gasped.
Qie Xieling who was standing fine just now was on his knee using his sword he had stabbed into the ground for support. His head hung low while his arm was resting on his abdomen.
Master Zi snorted coldly before saying, "You should be more focused on your Master otherwise he might not live to see tomorrow," he said and Elder Song clenched his fist before following Elder Xuan and the other Elders out.
Jolie rushed over to help Qie Xieling. While placing his arm over her shoulder she asked, "Are you okay?"
Qie Xieling nodded his head but the way he was clenching his teeth with a grim expression didn’t reassure Jolie. The group helped him out of the Arena and the moment his figure was out of sight from the audience he passed out cold.

When he finally woke up Qie Xieling found himself staring at the ceiling in an unfamiliar room. He tried to raise his hand but he soon realised that every part of his body ached.
"Shit," he swore as he raised his hand to cover his eyes as he hadn’t gotten used to the light yet. Suddenly a warm palm covered his face and Qie Xieling’s line of sight was covered in partial darkness. He felt something soft and wet touch his forehead. Someone had kissed his forehead and there was only one person who had the balls to do that. "Mu Mu," he called out and soon a deep and melodious voice replied,
"Mn... I am here."
Qie Xieling smiled as he pulled down the hand resting on his face. He leaned his head back and found Luo Muchen sitting at the head of the bed looking down at him. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
Qie Xieling bit his lower lip and curled his fingers beckoning him over. Luo Muchen’s heart felt itchy. He bent his head down and Qie Xieling’s hands rested at the back of his neck. The two of them stared at each other intently with sparks flying between them.
