Jin Cheng led them to approach the farm from the side. They avoided the main road. Thanks to the farming complex occupying a large area, it was impossible to monitor the entire perimeter of the complex.

The perimeter had only a simple fence to mark its territory. There were no words of power to prevent intruders. When the previous landlord was still alive, the methods employed to fend off intruders were the landlord’s reputation and hired hands patrolling the perimeter. The farm still used the same methods. The difference was that instead of the landlord, it was now the bandits.

The side they are entering from was a field with tall grass. The grass had the height of a man’s shoulder. By hunching down, they avoided sighting.

They had also surveyed the side they were entering from a small hill nearby. Not many bandits patrolled the side. Jin Cheng assured Amon and Wi Yin that he had memorized the bandits’ patrolling patterns. He assured them that they wouldn’t be spotted or sensed by the bandits.

Wi Yin wanted to ask how he could be sure? Bandits were not known for their discipline. Even the faction crews had trouble following a fixed patrolling pattern. How could a bandit group stick to one?

She didn’t voice her opinion, though. She saw that Amon followed Jin Cheng without objection. Over the years, after countless missions, she had learned to trust Amon’s judgments. Anything she could think of, she was sure Amon would have considered it as well.

After sneaking through the tall grass for some time, they finally reached the fence that marked the perimeter of the farm. Jin Cheng turned to his two companions and said, "The secret entrance to the underground storeroom isn’t far from here. Follow me closely and don’t wander off! We will move speedily to reach the entrance."

Amon nodded his understanding. Wi Yin followed Amon’s lead.

After getting the confirmation, Jin Cheng leaped over the fence and began running. He didn’t hear footsteps behind him. He was worried the two didn’t follow him. He glanced back and saw that the two were gliding horizontally close to the ground, hence the absence of footstep.

He himself could not fly. Infernal cultivators only attained the ability to fly after reaching the Monster Realm. His Diabolic Stage was still within the Acolyte Realm, so he could not fly as his two companions did.

A few seconds later, he slowed down, crouched on the ground, and began searching for something in the soil. He found it. It was the handle of a hidden trapdoor. He pulled, and the trapdoor opened, revealing a set of stairs that led underground.

"Go in," he instructed. He held the trapdoor and told Amon and Wi Yin to enter first.

Amon grabbed the trapdoor and said, "We will be right behind you."

There was a pause before Jin Cheng said, "Okay. Stay close behind me." He walked down the stairs.

Wi Yin went down next. Amon was the last to enter. The stairs led into complete darkness. Amon had no trouble seeing in the dark, but his two companions did not. Jin Cheng turned on a Bright Flare Stone. A long tunnel awaited them at the bottom of the stairs.

"Fancy things to have under a farm," Amon remarked.

"This tunnel goes all the way to the basement of my residence. The entry on the other side is, of course, also hidden," Jin Cheng explained. "It serves as an emergency escape route in case enemies besiege our mansion. My late father was a paranoid man. There is also a large underground storeroom in the middle of this route to hide things we don’t want others to know about. That is where I hid Wi Zhuang. He is comfortably resting there to heal his wounds."

"I see," Amon responded.

After walking for some time, they finally arrived in the underground storeroom. Wi Zhuang was there, but not in comfort, as Jin Cheng had mentioned. Wi Zhuang was also not the only person in the room.

"Brother!" Wi Yin called. He wanted to rush over, but Amon stopped her.

Wi Zhuang was chained to the wall. He looked weak. Multiple bloody wounds were on his body. Next to him were two people Amon had seen before. One was recently, and the other was years ago.

Wi Zhuang displayed a panicked expression after seeing Wi Yin and Amon. He anxiously yelled, "No! Don’t come here. Run...!!"

*CLANG!*

Wi Yin turned back and saw that the tunnel they had come in from had been blocked by a steel door. Words of power were seen on the door’s surface. The walls and ceiling of this storeroom also had words of power engraved on them.

"These words of power... It not only hardens the structures of this room, but it also blocks cultivators outside the room from sensing who is inside here," Amon said after studying the engravings.

"That’s why we didn’t sense these two inside here before we entered...," Wi Yin said. She was in a combat pose with her weapon at the ready.

"It’s not just us two," said Lu Men, the bandit leader they met earlier.

A group of people entered the room from the other entrance of the storeroom. Amon presumed this other entrance was the one that led to the mansion’s basement. The people who entered were Lu Men’s subordinates.

"You... You tricked us!" Wi Yin yelled at Jin Cheng, who had nervously run toward Lu Men.

"I’m sorry!" He replied. "They threatened me. They said they will burn this place if I don’t do what they said."

"Hehe, and in return for obeying us, we will protect this farm for him," Lu Men said. "With a percentage of the farm’s profit, of course."

The other man beside Wi Zhuang laughed. He was Lu Zou, an enforcer of the Mercy Faction who claimed to be Wi Zhuang’s rival. He said mockingly at Wi Zhuang, "Hehe. What have I told you? I said I would bring your beloved sister here, didn’t I? And she also brought your replacement. This is better than I expected. Hahaha!"

Wi Zhuang’s face turned to despair when he saw that the exit behind his sister was blocked. "Lu Zou, please. I beg you. Whatever enmity you have with me, take it out on me. Please let my sister go."

Lu Zou’s face turned savage. "Enmity? My enmity is that you don’t know your place. How dare you become an enforcer before me? How dare you do it again by becoming a Slayer before me? And how dare you break through into the Beginning Fiendish Stage before me? Again and again, you pissed me off. Haven’t I already warned you years ago to watch it if you accept the Slayer rank? You didn’t heed my warning. Now you get the consequences. You have only yourself to blame."

"Then kill me and be done with it!" Wi Zhuang yelled. "Let my sister go!"

"Killing you will be too easy. Why do you think I bother to use your message talisman to lure your sister here? I want to torture her in front of you before I kill you. Oh, wait. My cousin, Lu Kang, did mention he liked your sister’s look. After I finish with her, I will give her to him so he can enjoy her as well."

"You animal! I will kill you!!" Wi Zhuang shouted. He tried to break his chains but failed. The chains were engraved, and he was too weak.

"Hahaha...!" Lu Zou laughed at Wi Zhuang’s struggle.

"Is Lu Kang around?"

Lu Zou turned to Amon, who spoke.

When Lu Zou didn’t say anything, Amon added, "You couldn’t have defeated Wi Zhuang by yourself. Even with these people, Wi Zhuang should still be able to flee. Did Lu Kang help you?"

A voice from the other entrance replied to Amon, "Boss Lu Kang is busy. He has no time to deal with small fish."

A man with altered arms entered. His right arm was covered by thick fur. The hand of that arm was disproportionately large and looked more like a beast’s claw than a human’s hand. His left arm was covered in scales. There was no hand on that arm. The arm instead ended with a large hook that seemed to be made of bone.

Amon scanned the mutant man. His cultivation level was Intermediate Fiendish Stage.

"Meet Tu Bien, my cousin’s loyal follower," Lu Zou introduced.

"That’s all?" Amon asked.

"Hehe. That’s all, he asked." Lu Zou chuckled before telling Wi Zhuang, "You have one funny subordinate."

"Wi Zhuang’s mission to come here, is it your doing as well?" Amon asked.

"Well, I’ve explained to Wi Zhuang here, but I don’t mind repeating it for you," Lu Zou said. "Yes, it is my doing. We threatened Jin Cheng here to make a mission request to our faction. My cousin then used his connection to arrange for Wi Zhuang to be assigned this mission. We jumped him when he arrived. We have been playing with him ever since, but it is getting boring, so I figure I will invite his sister here to spice things up."

"I see... Well, it is probably good that Lu Kang isn’t here," Amon said.

"I understand your fear of my cousin. Everyone is..."

Amon cut Lu Zou’s speech before he finished. "He won’t refuse my arena challenge once I present him with your head. You both will be my tickets to the Slayer rank."
