Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 528: Don’t covet other people’s things
Qie Xieling didn’t like the way she was looking at his man. She was like a viper staring straight at her prey. His brows furrowed as he took a step in front of Luo Muchen blocking her view.
Her lips twitched seeing that aloof cold face show a taunting smile while his hands wrapped around the waist of the weak ger standing in front of him. He even rested his chin on the ger with a gloating look on his face like he was showing off.
"What the hell do you think you are looking at?" asked Qie Xieling his anger erupting like a geyser. He was hot, sweaty and nauseous so his tolerance level had dropped significantly. He couldn’t tolerate her gawking at his husband like a hyena.
"You talk so big because you are hiding behind all these men. If you have something to say come say it to me in my face... How about this? We can duel and if you lose which you will, I will take him off your hands. Of course, that is unless you are scared."
Qie Xieling chuckled in anger. His laughter was the kind of laughter before a storm. Jolie showed a malicious smile on her face ready to see the good show. He might look harmless but he had his dad’s explosive temper and was as heavy-handed as his father. She had poked the bear so now she would suffer the consequences.
With an explosive energy, he drew his sword and charged at her. The woman was shocked by his sudden attack and barely managed to block his strike with her own blade. This was the plan. They wanted to lure the weakest link out of the fold and use him as bait if all else failed. The plan had been incredibly successful but she didn’t expect him to be this powerful. They clashed with an explosive force that made her stumble a little backwards. Qie Xieling did not relent and pressed on with his assault. He swung his sword with speed and precision, aiming for her vital spots. The woman was forced to retreat, parrying and dodging his blows. She realised that she had underestimated him and that he was a formidable opponent.
"Fuck!" she swore before glancing at the man with wolf fur. "Get him off me."
"Protect His Majesty," yelled the leader of the mercenaries preventing her from getting back up. Qie Xieling saw the fear in her eyes and sneered. He wanted to make her pay for daring to covet things that didn’t belong to her. He wanted to make her regret ever crossing him.
The pair were soon locked in an even more fierce battle. They exchanged blows with their swords, each trying to gain the upper hand. Behind them, there was a bloody melee with Jolie cutting people indiscriminately. Everybody knew especially the small clans that if they provoke a big clan trying to rob them of their tokens there will be a big form of justice for them. In other words, if you went looking for trouble regardless of your clan there would be no consequences. The consequences would come outside the arena because the big families would surely hunt that person down.
With that knowledge in mind, Jolie was cutting down people like cutting down trees. One could say she was in her element. The mercenaries couldn’t help but lag amazed by this little demon.
Luo Muchen wasn’t spared. Being one of the targets he was attacked by the woman with a tiger claw and the man with a bear’s beard. He might have had one arm but the difference in strength was that big. He stood his ground. The sound of metal clashing, bones breaking, and screams filled that part of the arena with the crowd cheering for the bloody battle.
Meanwhile, Qie Xieling was too fast and strong that he gradually wore her down. He parried her slash and countered with a kick, sending her flying back. He followed up with a thrust, aiming for her heart. She barely dodged, but his sword cut through her arm, drawing blood. She gasped in pain but did not give up. She swung her sword again, hoping to catch him off guard.
But Qie Xieling was ready. He blocked her attack and twisted her wrist, disarming her. Her sword fell to the ground, and she stumbled. He seized the opportunity and tackled her, pinning her down. He placed the tip of his sword on her neck, ready to end her life. He looked into her eyes and saw the fear and defiance. He felt a surge of hatred and contempt. She had tried to take what was his. She deserved to die. His blood was boiling and his anger at its peak. It was as though some type of beast had grabbed hold of him and he wasn’t himself anymore.
He was about to press his sword deeper when he noticed something. The arena around them started to shift and change again. The ground began to crack and crumble. He withdrew his sword and got up. The arena shifted like a maze and because Qie Xieling was standing at the edge and couldn’t back up in time he was suddenly separated from the others. Luo Muchen who subconsciously always had his attention on Qie Xieling noticed faster than anybody and rushed over in time. The two of them got isolated from the others in the arena.
Luo Muchen grabbed hold of Qie Xieling and asked him in an anxious tone, "Are you okay? Does it hurt anywhere?"
Qie Xieling was fine he was just a little more worried for him. He let Luo Muchen pull him up while saying, "I am fine. You should be more worried about your bloody arm. Who told you to offend people? Now they all want to get you at your weakest."
Luo Muchen bit his lower lip while staring at him with sad eyes. If he was a dog his tail would be drooping.
Qie Xieling didn’t notice him sulking. He was busy checking Luo Muchen’s arm while mumbling, "You just had to look so handsome that everyone is lusting over you."
Luo Muchen pressed his lips in a straight line trying to suppress a smile creeping up the corner of his lips. "I am sorry for causing trouble for my wife," he said as he reached out with his other hand and caressed the side of Qie Xieling’s face, making him shiver.
Qie Xieling raised his head and looked at him. His heart jolted when he met that piercing gaze staring straight into his soul. Luo Muchen leaned in and called out, "Lin Lin," before whispering in his ear, "I love you, You are my everything."
Qie Xieling felt a wave of emotion wash over him, making his heart beat faster and his breath catch in his throat. This was the second time today Luo Muchen had confessed to him. He wanted to say the same words back, to kiss and hold him close, to forget about the danger and the chaos around them. But before he could open his mouth, the ground shook violently, making them both lose their balance.
