Chapter 525: "What beast? "

Luo Muchen’s eyes blazed with fury as he faced Lee Ya’s sinister grin. The air was charged with tension and he was seething in anger and wanted to chop her down right now. She had gotten what she wanted the moment he was disowned but it seemed like she wasn’t satisfied. She obviously wanted his head.

The ferocious beast’s body suddenly moved its fur sticking up. It opened its eyes and without notice, it charged at what it perceived as the weakest link in the group and that was Luo Muchen.

It charged toward him, its feral snarls echoing through the arena. The mercenaries swiftly leapt into action, engaged in a fierce battle to protect both Qie Xieling and Luo Muchen. They had been instructed that if they saw Luo Muchen, then they had seen Qie Xieling and that they should treat him with the same importance thus they didn’t hesitate to put that beast to sleep.

Luo Muchen quivered with rage, his fists clenched, as Lee Ya stood at a distance, her laughter echoing through the chaos. She had sent that beast deliberately out of her deep-rooted hatred for Luo Muchen. She had what she wanted and what rightfully belonged to her but she wasn’t happy. That’s because Qie Xieling would willingly run into his arms and stand by his side even when he had nothing. It irked her so much that she couldn’t help herself.

Amid the chaos, Lee Ya sauntered slowly toward Luo Muchen, her eyes glinting with malice.

In a swift, calculated motion, Lee Ya launched a barrage of flying daggers at Luo Muchen, who, in his rage, was unprepared. Because his arm was broken his reaction was slowed by the searing pain. In that perilous moment, a figure emerged from behind him. It was Qie Xieling. His eyes burning with determination he defended his baby.

With astonishing speed, Qie Xieling intercepted the deadly projectiles, his martial prowess on full display. The clash of metal filled the air as Qie Xieling deflected each dagger with precision, protecting Luo Muchen from her vicious assault. Lee Ya’s face sank. She bit her lip as she stared at Qie Xieling. She couldn’t fathom what he saw in her half-brother.

She sneered and spun her sword in her hand before commanding, "Attack!"

With a steely determination in her eyes, she unsheathed her sword and lunged toward Luo Muchen with lethal grace. But before their blades could clash Qie Xieling swiftly intercepted Lee Ya’s strike, their swords locking in a fierce standoff.

Meanwhile, Bi Yize appeared out of nowhere and swiftly kicked Lee Ya out of the way sending her flying a few feet away.

Lee Ya stumbled to her feet and Qie Xieling was taken away to safety. The conflict quickly escalated, drawing the three clans into a chaotic frenzy of clashing weapons and swirling bodies.

The Zhang disciples watched this from a distance not knowing whether to intervene or not. They had been told to protect Lee Ya when necessary but Zhang Hua the leading disciple assessed the situation and said, "I think the Lee family aren’t at a disadvantage. We can let them take care of it. Our competition is the Zi family. Let’s go."

Soon after he said that Zhang’s family left and didn’t bother to look back.

Luo Muchen was extremely annoyed when he saw Bi Yize rushing over to protect his husband like a knight in shining armour. "What do you think you are doing?" he said as he swung his blade. Bi Yize blocked his attack and stared at his broken arm with a look of contempt.

"In your condition, I don’t think you can protect anyone. Where you fall short, I will make up for it. Who knows, maybe he will realise how useless you are," said Bi Yize with a sly grin.

Luo Muchen tightened the grip on his sword and his eyes flashed with a cold sharpness. If he wasn’t injured it wouldn’t take him long to take care of Bi Yize. His injury made things more difficult for him but he knew he would still win against him.

"Stay away from my wife," he said his voice dripping with possessiveness. Their swords clashed and Luo Muchen’s attacks were so aggressive that Bi Yize found it difficult to keep up.

Meanwhile, Qie Xieling who had been standing on the side was done with this mess. He was worried that Luo Muchen would get hurt. It seemed this man didn’t want his hand anymore otherwise why would he fight when he had a broken arm? Unable to stand it anymore he marched right in the middle of the battle and the mercenaries in a panic, rushed to protect him from any unexpected danger.

"Stop!" Qie Xieling’s voice boomed over the chaos. "Enough!"

His words echoed through the air, and slowly the clash of weapons began to subside. Just as the tension began to ease Jolie charged onto the scene, her sword raised high. "This is war!" she declared, her battle cry echoing through the air as she lunged at the nearest disciples of the Lee family. Caught off guard the disciples took a few steps back and the fight resumed. Qie Xieling slapped his forehead in exasperation.

"Stop fighting for heaven’s sake," he said and just as he was about to scold them further, the ground beneath him began to tremble. The arena itself seemed to be moving, causing a wave of nausea to wash over him. Qie Xieling clenched his teeth, trying to suppress the urge to vomit. "Let’s," he said before covering his mouth his expression contorted, "let’s save this fight for... excuse me." He had realised his efforts were futile. He stumbled toward the nearby bushes and retched uncontrollably. Luo Muchen dashed to his side and held back his hair while rubbing his back soothingly. He didn’t know what was going on with Qie Xieling and he was quite concerned.

Just when Qie Xieling thought he was okay he stood up straight but he was suddenly struck with a bout of nausea. He felt his abdominal muscles contract, and there was a forceful expulsion of stomach contents again. His eyes teared up and his nose sniffled. He wanted to cry. His breakfast was all gone and he was now throwing up air. Jolie finally stopped causing mayhem and walked over to his side seeming a little worried.

Luo Muchen handed Qie Xieling a water bag to rinse his mouth. Qie Xieling accepted it and while he swished his mouth with water Luo Muchen asked, "Was it something you ate?"

Jolie placed her hand on her waist looking like a small Madam and said, "More like something he swallowed. He should have been careful not to trust a beast."

Qie Xieling, "..."

Luo Muchen’s brows creased wondering what this beast was so he asked, "What beast?"

Jolie chuckled softly. Luo Muchen had walked into her trap of his own free will so why not mess with him? "Oh, it’s the kind of beast that coaxes innocent-looking people who are naive. Lure them in with a fun time then when they least expect it... it gobbles them up until they are eaten clean then it runs off."

Luo Muchen could already tell from the direction of the conversation that they weren’t talking about a beast but something else. Qie Xieling who wasn’t ready yet to tell him what was going on smacked Jolie upside her head before accepting another elixir from the physician. Because of the shift of the arena, the clan disciples had already dispersed. They knew that the beasts in this Arena were limited and if they kept wasting time they could only fight other disciples for their tokens.

"Let’s get going," said Qie Xieling and Luo Muchen wanted to oppose this. He didn’t want Qie Xieling to walk around when he wasn’t feeling well but he was afraid Qie Xieling wouldn’t listen to him. He could only say, "Let me know if you feel uncomfortable. I will carry you."

Qie Xieling nodded his head with a smile but what he wanted to say was, ’Of course, you are going to carry me. This is all your fault.’ They hadn’t walked for long before they were met with an earth-shaking roar coming from behind them. The mercenaries drew their weapons ready to attack. As they waited in tense silence, a creature resembling a hybrid of a large predatory cat and a reptile, with sleek, dark fur covering its muscular body emerged from the bushes. Its yellow piercing eyes glared out from the shadows, and its powerful legs had razor-sharp claws that enabled it to move with incredible agility. Long, curved fangs protruded from its jaw making it a thing of nightmares. "They hunt in packs," said one of the men and just as he said that rustling sounds came one after the other and several more of those creatures emerged from the shadows their fangs glinting in the dappled sunlight.

These creatures were known for their stealth and deadly attacks, and facing them in the dense jungle was a terrifying prospect. They should have encountered these creatures at the later stages of the arena and not this early into the competition. As expected someone had tempered with the competition. The trap had probably been set for Luo Muchen and if he fought alone with a broken arm he would probably get severe injuries in the least.
