Chapter 521: Chunky Jolie

Master Zi suddenly patted his back and said, "Tsk, don’t fret, I made sure that he would still participate even without a backer." He suddenly leaned in closer and whispered, "You are going to want to watch this. I will take revenge for you."

Master Lee knew exactly what he met but he meant it that day when he disowned his son. He shouldn’t have brought that bad luck back to his home. Now he was in deeper waters than he was in the beginning. He had other children outside his marriage but none of them were satisfactory enough or the right age. Now he could only find the youngest one of his sons and shape them to take after him.

Master Lee was so deep in thought that he didn’t notice his brother-in-law glaring at him. He never liked Master Lee and seeing him being treated like a lap dog by Master Zi the man lost even more of his respect. If it weren’t for the mutual benefits he would have asked his sister to divorce him. This was just too humiliating.

He gulped down the wine in his cup his anger simmering underneath. He couldn’t wait to deal with him after the competition.

Master Zi was about to approve the beginning of the martial arts competition to his attendant and have the master of ceremony begin the games when a loud gasp was heard behind them.

In came seven familiar terrifying faces. They were the elders of the mercenary clans cultivated by the former grand king. Master Zi’s face sank but he was unfazed. These elders had remained neutral when the king was deposed and didn’t even land a helping hand yet here they were. What did they come here for? To intimidate him?

Elder Xuan smiled like a fiend as he picked a seat and sat down. The other Masters didn’t dare speak but they were terrified. They remembered their fierce fighting strength under the grand king. They wondered what they wanted now that the grand king was dead. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

"Master Zi, long time no see. We have let you do as you please but it seems that your tail has grown longer." Elder Xuan said in a mocking tone referring to where he was sitting.

Master Zi chuckled softly and said, "Is that so? I thought you had retired from the martial world and lived in seclusion. Your old master is already bones now so what brings you here today?... Don’t tell me you are here to watch the competition?"

There was suddenly a commotion at the iron gates where the participants were standing waiting for the competition to start. A figure appeared from nowhere surrounded by five to six people.

He was a young man, about twenty years old. He didn’t look exactly like the Grand King but he had the same cold and ruthless eyes, the same cold smile on his face, the same imposing and majestic aura. He wore a black robe with a golden dragon embroidered on it. He raised his head with a slight tilt and scanned the group of masters.

When Master Bi saw who it was he felt a chill run down his spine. How was this possible? There was absolutely no way. It must be a lie. That was the only thing that made sense to him. Master Lee on the other hand couldn’t even breathe. The person he had disowned his son for was actually the King’s heir. This... it was unbelievable. A sense of regret began to surface but when he thought that the former King was taken down so easily he relaxed. What did it matter? There was no guarantee that he would become King anyway. These masters would never let him.

Master Zi chuckled softly and said, "You expect me to believe that this hoe from the brothel is the grand King’s heir. Hahaha have you lost your mind," in a mocking tone only for a dagger to come flying in his direction barely missing his face.

The man who had thrown it was one of the elders who was glaring at him with murderous intent. "You see... we can’t tolerate people slandering our King. One more negative thing out of your mouth and he will cut out your tongue in front of these good people."

Master Zi clenched his fist but he didn’t say anything. It seemed today there would be two people who must die in that arena and they couldn’t be blamed for it. As the saying goes ’shit happens’.

Meanwhile, Qie Xieling scanned the crowd hoping to catch a glimpse of Luo Muchen. After all, he had come here for him, not for the competition. When he spotted the Lee family, he took a step forward but the young warriors assigned to protect him during the competition stopped him.

"Let us, Your Majesty. We will bring him for you," he said before nodding to the others to go take a look.

"Why should I even be here when you have all these guards to protect you? Ah, I want to eat grapes under the shade and watch the blood bath," said Jolie wishing she could sit down and stretch lazily like a cat. That had been her lifestyle recently. She would wake up, eat and sleep. If he didn’t know any better he would think she was the one who was pregnant.

"No, you need the exercise. You are starting to look a little chunky," he said and Jolie gasped.

"Chunky, where? I am not chunky. Take that back."

Qie Xieling was about to retort when the man returned. He leaned in and whispered something into his ear. Qie Xieling’s heart sank when he heard that. If Luo Muchen wasn’t here then what was the point?

He had to find him. "If he isn’t here there is no point being here. Let’s go," he said only for Lee Ya to walk over her expression relaxed but her steps had a hint of urgency in them.

"How are you here," she said but her path was suddenly blocked and she couldn’t even see him. "You!" she yelled but before she could explode a loud gong rang in the air indicating the start of the competition.
