Chapter 192: "He has draconian blood. He can read it,"

"Great now we won’t know where to go. Can’t you wake him up?" asked Jolie who had just about enough with this place.

"Who has the scroll, let me take a look," said Qie Xieling and Boran took it out.

Yunning raised her hand to stop him while saying, "What use is that to you? You won’t be able to see anything."

Jolie grabbed the scroll from Boran’s hand while saying, "He has draconian blood in him. He can definitely read it."

Yunning scoffed and said, "You are a half draconian sorcerer, not of draconian blood. Even if you could your magic is suppressed."

Jolie still handed him the scroll while saying, "He has draconian blood. He can read it."

Of course, he had draconian blood in him. That’s because someone cast a spell on him with blood magic and that someone was lying comfortably inside his clothes completely unaware that his secret was about to get exposed.

"No... not possible," she said and Qie Xieling ignored her. He opened the scroll and in front of him were scribbles that seemed not to make sense at first. But soon his eyes flashed blue like a filter had covered his eyes and everything began to make sense.

It was a love letter from the King to his lover and how it even landed in the celestial’s hands was a mystery to him. In this letter, he mentioned how he made a mistake and how that mistake might try to kill her. He vowed to protect her but if he couldn’t he left something for her. Something that could kill immortals. Something that he took from Loviatar. He had kept it in a place special to the both of them and he also apologised for failing to protect her.

Qie Xieling arched his brow while closing the scroll. He had never read something this personal and too fluff. The countless love letters he read addressed to Luo Muchen weren’t this deep and personal. They were immature and emphasised their infatuation. This letter painted a deep love stemming from his deepest depths.

Considering that the king was in love with the dragon, this special place could only be a place with lots of treasure. Since dragons loved shiny things it only made sense that there was a treasure room.

’System where is the treasure room in this palace?’ he asked and the system that had been mute this entire time finally revived.

It displayed the side mission he had also ignored and found that the treasure he was looking for was Loviator’s nine stranded whip, with barbed strands. This was enough to kill her. As to where it was, the secret entrance was in the King’s Chambers.

"Follow me," he said and Yunning clenched her fist till her knuckles turned white. She wanted to know why he had draconian blood in him but there was no way Eling would tell her. She watched his departing back with resentment in her eyes.

Jolie didn’t question him neither did Boran. They just followed his lead without an ounce of doubt. She understood why Jolie left with him but she couldn’t accept why Boran didn’t even question him.

"Boran," she called out and he turned to look at her with slight surprise on his face. "Why do you follow him without even questioning him? Have you forgotten that he betrayed King Luo, he also betrayed you. What if he is leading us into a trap."

Boran glanced at Eling’s departing back before saying, "I understand what you are saying and I haven’t forgotten. It’s just that... King Luo for some reason trusts him for now. I follow whoever King Luo follows," he said inadvertently telling her to whom his loyalties lie.

Yunning was not stupid. She could read between the lines. Ever since she got the title of this weeping future bride whose future husband was betrayed by his subordinate, King Luo’s subjects became loyal to her in turn but now that King Luo was back the power she enjoyed was slipping from her fingers and she couldn’t do anything about it.

Boran ran after Eling and didn’t seem to care whether Yunning followed or not. After taking a few turns they finally reached what was the King’s Chambers.

The group of four stood before the towering double doors that led into the room. The anticipation hung in the air as they pushed open the heavy doors, revealing a room that radiated grandeur and opulence.

The King’s Chambers were bathed in a soft, golden glow that filtered through the stained glass windows, casting colourful patterns across the marble floor. The room seemed frozen in time, preserving the magnificence of a bygone era. Intricate tapestries adorned the walls, depicting scenes of knights in famous battles, mythical creatures worshipped by the masses and gilded candelabras hung from the high ceilings, flickering with ethereal light.

In the centre of the room stood a majestic canopy bed, its sheer size able to fit ten people. The intricately carved wooden frame reached towards the heavens, and the headboard boasted a mesmerizing painting. It depicted the king, his regal visage captured in vibrant brushstrokes, accompanied by a magnificent platinum dragon soaring through the sky. It was a testament to the king’s obsession with his lover, the mythical creature that had entranced his heart.

"Split up and look for a secret entrance," stated Qie Xieling and they all dispersed, their eyes widening with awe as they explored the vastness of the chamber.

With determination etched on their faces, they began their meticulous search for anything that could trigger a hidden mechanism. Everyone was serious about their goal except Yunning. She stood there seeming very unhappy. She crossed her arms on her chest acting all nonchalant.

One by one, they combed through the room, leaving no stone unturned. They examined the towering bookshelves, their fingers tracing the spines of ancient tomes and scrolls.

They pressed their hands against the ornate walls, feeling for any irregularities that might reveal the presence of a hidden passage. They even knelt to inspect the meticulously crafted tiles, running their fingers along the grooves in search of a concealed lever.

Minutes turned into hours, and hours into what felt like an eternity, but they persevered, knowing that a single moment of discovery could change everything. The room seemed to hold its breath, the silence only interrupted by the sound of their footsteps echoing in the cavernous space.

Yunning sneered coldly before saying, "This is what happens when you trust a treasonous traitor. Whatever it is you are looking for is obviously not here."

Just as she said that Jolie noticed a tiny indentation on the base of a marble pillar. With a mix of excitement and trepidation, she pressed against it, and to their amazement, the pillar shifted slightly, revealing a hidden compartment.
