Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 191: "With what money? You are broke."
Qie Xieling almost jumped into King Luo’s arms after seeing that vicious little thing. He really hated this world because every step he took something wanted to kill him and it didn’t help that he wasn’t strong enough to defend himself.
King Luo was more than happy to have Qie Xieling jump into his arms at any time. It gave him this odd sense of satisfaction. He just wanted to be alone with him and continue with what they were doing before. The feeling was so strong that he clutched the fabric of Qie Xieling’s robe fending off the urge to reassure him.
Qie Xieling rushed to stand behind him his meaning clear. He was too weak to defend himself and King Luo was his refuge. The problem was that Jolie was starting to feel discarded. It was as though he had been married off by her and he didn’t need her anymore.
Qie Xieling subconsciously clutched King Luo’s waist with one hand while whispering, "Do something. It’s trying to kill me."
King Luo didn’t need to be told twice. He wanted to protect Qie Xieling at all costs. Before them a swirling mass of blue and white light danced and flickered, coalescing into the form of ethereal creatures. Their mischievous nature had grown malevolent and dangerous, their electric shocks crackling through the air.
"Stand behind Jolie," he said to Qie Xieling and Jolie rolled her eyes. These two only thought of her when they needed something.
Qie Xieling didn’t dare disobey. He knew the consequences were dire. He rushed over to Jolie and with open arms Jolie provided shelter, well, after reprimanding him. "Now that you have a husband you don’t need your big sis anymore," she whispered and Qie Xieling felt like he had been exposed.
"Will you stop? I will buy you another tiara," he said but that didn’t work. Instead, Jolie asked,
"With what money? You are broke."
Qie Xieling, "..."
Never in his life had he been called broke by anyone. This was another reason why he hated this bloody world. He couldn’t wait to move on to the next. Maybe then he wouldn’t be so broke.
"This is a stupid game. I will buy it for you in the real world, okay?" he whispered and because he was afraid everybody else would hear them he whispered straight into Jolie’s ear.
King Luo was well aware that there was nothing between them but he still felt some type of way about it. He gritted his teeth and as the will ’o’ wisps closed in, he took a much-needed deep breath, his chest expanding with an air of confidence.
He raised his hands, palms glowing with an intense platinum light. His eyes, deep pools of blue frost, shimmered with an ancient power. The magic within him surged, responding to the imminent threat.
With a mighty roar, King Luo unleashed his arcane magic. A torrent of incredibly cold air erupted from his hands, intertwining with the blue light.
A swirling mist transformed into draconic tendrils, swirling and lashing out, each one seeking out a will ’o’ wisp with unerring accuracy. The creatures screeched and scattered, their delicate forms turning them into gaseous figures.
But even as the will ’on wisps dissipated, a collective malevolence emanated from their remnants. The tiny sparks of light merged and fused together, growing larger and more menacing. In an instant, a massive form materialized. It was a towering behemoth made of pure electricity, crackling and sizzling with raw power.
The giant will ’o’ wisp surged forward, its tendrils of electricity reaching out to the walls and metal lamp stands, turning the corridor into an electric storm. The air crackled with energy, and the palace trembled under the onslaught.
Boran gasped, with his face etched with concern. He was well aware that attacking with his greataxe would only result in him getting electrocuted to death thus he also hid behind Jolie.
Qie Xieling, "..."
Faced with this behemoth, King Luo’s expression remained calm and resolute. He spread his wings, their majestic span filling the corridor, and his voice reverberated with authority.
"Persist and you shall perish," he declared, his voice thundering through the chaos.
With a surge of power, King Luo unleashed his dragon magic once again. This time, he didn’t need to summon his ice breath. Instead, he channelled his disintegration breath, where a beam of blue light issued from his mouth and destroys everything in its path.
The giant will ’o’ wisp hesitated, its crackling energy faltering for a moment. It seemed to recognise the power that this man emanated, a power that belonged to an ancient lineage of dragons.
With a single attack, the giant will ’o’ wisp trembled, its electric tendrils flickering weakly.
Then, in an explosion of power, King Luo clenched his fist. The beam of blue light surged forth, wrapping around the giant will ’o’ wisp, disintegrating it. The electric storm dissipated, leaving only a faint trace of energy in the air.
King Luo lost his strength suddenly and the blue beam of light faded away.
He suddenly collapsed to the floor and Qie Xieling ran over to catch him but Yunning beat him to it. Taking advantage of the fact that King Luo was no longer conscious she stroked his cheek with a tender expression acting like they were the most loving couple in the world.
She took out some healing elixir and pried his mouth open to pour it down his throat but King Luo was suddenly enveloped with a bright light and changed back into his small dragon form.
Inside a pile of clothes, King Luo’s head popped out and he found Yunning’s face so close to him. His heart almost dropped to the pit of his stomach.
"Let me carry you," she said as she reached for him but in a split second the small dragon vanished and reappeared at Qie Xieling’s feet.
Qie Xieling who was watching them too with a dark aura surrounding him wanted to stay mad but watching King Luo fly up to his shoulder made it really hard.
He tried to ignore him but King Luo shamelessly crawled into his clothes nestling in there comfortably. Everyone, "..."
Qie Xieling pulled the lapel of his clothes and looked down only to find him already breathing softly and resting. When Qie Xieling looked up he was met by different gazes some resentful and others in awe.
"What? I am the only one who can’t fight so obviously he will pick me," he said but Jolie’s loud chortle said everything.
