Chapter 176: .. I will take care of him."

"Shit," he swore and the rocks in the forest flew in the direction of the giant rock man. Amidst this chaos, King Luo called out, "Eling you are with me!" Qie Xieling heard it loud and clear but he stuck with Jolie.

There was no way he was going with King Luo after what happened last night. The man had already made his point clear so Qie Xieling wasn’t going to risk it.

Jolie was more than ready to make jabs at him. "Your Majesty, you won’t be able to protect two people. I will take care of him." Hearing this King Luo’s heart stung but he had no time to focus on it.

The behemoth of the rock man roared shaking the ground its eyes glowing menacingly. They looked up and saw a figure standing atop a nearby cliff.

Qie Xieling’s brows furrowed finding that figure quite familiar. When their gazes met he couldn’t help but mutter, "Shit," while clutching Jolie’s clothes.

"What is it?" she asked while King Luo subconsciously took a step forward with worry written all over his face. But his steps halted when he saw Eling’s fingers clutching Jolie’s clothes tightly. He suddenly realised that even if he was to get close to him he wouldn’t be acknowledged so he halted his steps.

The sorcerer atop the cliff appeared like he was manipulating everything around them with marionette magic. The trees and rock man alike were bound by ethereal strings originating from his fingertips.

"Do you know him?" asked Boran also having noticed that Eling was behaving strangely.

Qie Xieling knew who this person was, alright. This man was an assassin with a particular skill set. From his character display he seemed to be interested in Queen Yana as well and knowing her she was probably very convincing. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

This was the same woman who convinced Eling to betray the person he swore to protect without any guarantees. He didn’t even receive a single kiss but he was so entranced by her that he would give everything.

This meant that this so-called assassin would do his very best and even give his life to please Queen Yana. Qie Xieling was a little terrified considering that he had no way of defending himself.

Yunning wasted no time. She chanted some words and the ancient symbols on her arms lit up her eyes a fierce red glow. Bright red runes lit up around her as she summoned an invisible barrier that would guard them against any stone projectiles.

Boran’s muscles rippled beneath his armour as he clutched his great axe. He let out a sonorous battle cry and charged towards the rock man. His heavy great axe clashed against the creature’s stone body, but not even a scratch appeared across its surface.

The rock man swatted him off with a loud roar and he was sent flying across the dense forest.

King Luo in his small dragon form was still as powerful. He whipped around in the sunny sky with determination in his eyes. He breathed a jet of scalding flames onto the rock man’s stony face. The creature roared in anger as smoke billowed around it.

As they worked together to slow the monster down, Qie Xieling noticed a swift movement near their perimeter. A cloaked figure slipped from the shadows. It was the very same evil sorcerer controlling the rock man. He leapt toward him with menacing intent.

Jolie acted quickly to protect him. She wasn’t here for anyone else but him. She shot out a beam of golden light from her palms that intercepted the attacker just inches away from Qie Xieling.

Unfortunately, Jolie was momentarily blinded by her own spell’s reflection. The assassin seized this opportunity and waved his hand hurriedly. A swirling portal appeared out of nowhere and enveloped Jolie before she had time to react.

As she vanished into another plane of existence, Qie Xieling was left vulnerable. Before he could even make a run for it he was grabbed by the back of his collar and taken further from the chaos.

Qie Xieling was tossed to the ground harshly and he rolled several times before he was attacked by a powerful force causing the back of his head to hit a boulder.

Qie Xieling sucked in a cold breath of air as the man smiled evilly. "Eling tsk tsk... I never liked you at all. This means that I will enjoy killing you," he said his voice getting even more menacing.

Qie Xieling had to buy himself some time so he showed the magic suppression cuffs on his wrists.

"Drew, you can see I can’t even defend myself. Can’t you at least be lenient?" he said and the assassin laughed maniacally.

"You think I would let you go that easy? Now that you lost favour and betrayed Yana I will take the opportunity to get brownie points," he said while looking for the most suitable spell to get him to shut up.

"Before you do that, let me tell you something. I am not interested in her anymore. You can have her. I am no longer your love rival so rest at ease," said Qie Xieling trying to buy himself time.

"Oh really? Then ain’t this my lucky day? I should use your dead body as a bargaining chip to win her heart," he said and Qie Xieling’s eyes widened. Everybody in this game was crazy including King Luo. They were all a bunch of crazies.

Drew cackled maliciously and raised his hands to deliver the final fatal blow. As Qie Xieling braced himself for the inevitable end, thunderous footsteps reverberated causing the ground to quack.

A deafening roar shook the forest and a creature of immense size plunged into the fray. A gigantic dragon with scales that shimmered like molten metal swooped down, casting shadows over Drew’s twisted figure.

The dragon unfurled its massive wings and lashed its long tail with a speed that belied its gargantuan size. Drew barely had time to register his surprise before the forceful strike sent him flying into the trees.

Stunned, both physically and strategically, Drew struggled to recover from the unprecedented turn of events. The dragon wasted no time in closing in on him. Its fierce eyes stared down at him with unyielding ferocity.

Before Drew could muster another incantation to defend himself, an inferno erupted from within the dragon’s maw. Swirling tongues of flame surged forward in a torrential blaze, engulfing Drew’s trembling form in an instant. His screams were drowned out by the monstrous roar accompanying the merciless tidal wave of heat and fire.

The forest was illuminated in vivid hues of gold and crimson as fire consumed every inch of Drew’s being. As the searing flames receded, only charred remnants remained on the blackened ground, marking where Drew had suffered defeat under the draconic might.

Qie Xieling stared up at his unexpected saviour with awe and exhaustion glazing his eyes. Released from the impending doom of Drew’s wrath, he marvelled at the raw power displayed by King Luo. His gratitude ignited by the brilliant flames that had saved him made him forget all the anger he was harbouring inside. Just like a typical Gemini, he got over his anger easily.
