Chapter 143: Magic suppression cuffs

Wen Qinxi felt his stomach drop as he realised the gravity of the situation. That explosion had to be powerful if it managed to reach him and wreak havoc in the van. What made matters worse was that the lair was underground and if they were caught up in that explosion it would be very difficult to rescue people.

Still reeling from the explosion, Wen Qinxi tried to stagger to his feet so that he could open the van door and assess the situation outside. But, to his dismay, the door was jammed shut.

"Shit," he swore holding his sore arm.

He felt his anxiety rise as he realised he was trapped inside the van with no way of knowing if his husband was safe. He tried to remain calm and collected as he racked his brain for a way out.

Just as he scanned around the van looking for another means of escape, Wen Qinxi heard the sound of footsteps approaching. He braced himself for the worst, but instead he heard the sound of a familiar voice.

"Xixi, are you in there?" called out Qie Ranzhe while Hei Xiwen checked the door that seemed jammed.

Wen Qinxi felt a sense of relief wash over him as he leaned against the door. His throat bobbed as he closed his eyes. If anything happened to Qie Ranzhe he would never be able to live with himself.

"Babe, are you there?" called out Qie Ranzhe again and Wen Qinxi tilted his head slightly before answering,

"I am fine. Are you okay?"

Qie Ranzhe heaved a sigh before saying, "Get away from the door, okay? We will try and open it."

Wen Qinxi staggered away and leaned against the wall of the van his legs weak. He slid down to the ground and waited.

Eventually, they managed to pry open the van door, and Qie Ranzhe ran in before crouching in front of him frantically looking for any signs of injury.

Wen Qinxi winced his head leaning onto the crevice of Qie Ranzhe’s neck. He closed his eyes as his fingers clutched at the fabric of his husband’s t-shirt tightly. "Babe," whispered Qie Ranzhe his ear brushing against Wen Qinxi’s ear, "Let’s get you checked out."

"Just hold me a little longer, okay?" he whispered and Qie Ranzhe hugged him while stroking his hair gently in comfort.

Thinking Qie Ranzhe must be annihilated, Leong Jinn was in a pretty good mood. He turned back to the game screen and was about to share the news with Qie Xieling when he found that the brat had passed out again from the punishment.

He tsked in disappointment before continuing with extracting the game files. He had to send his potential investors overseas a detailed report on this trial. His game had the potential to deal with overpopulation and provide rich people with a luxurious alternative to reality where they have control.

Thus revenge wasn’t the only reason why he was invested in this game. It was like killing two birds with one stone.

Qie Xieling woke up on a hard bed with no blanket covering his body. It was though he had been tossed on the bed and left to fend for himself.

He felt a little dispirited but after recalling that he had a chat with Jolie earlier he suddenly felt a great sense of relief.

He sat up while running his fingers in his hair only to pause when he realised that his hair was super long. He pulled his collar and found that his chest was still flat but he was dressed like a girl.

He had no boobs but his features were still delicate and his hair long. He looked around and found that he was in a room with barely any sun coming through. The room was basically furnished with the hardest bed Qie Xieling had ever slept in. He got up to leave but when he took a step he suddenly realised that his ankle was chained to the wall.

"Seriously!" he yelled loud enough for the people on the other side of the door to hear him but they ignored him. "You fuckin...," he swore but stopped when he realised that this rusty chain was nothing when compared to his magic.

He thought of a spell that could work to break the chain and free himself. He made a hand gesture and cast the heat metal transmutation spell.

The metal chain was meant to heat up ’red hot’ making it fragile but nothing happened. For a moment Qie Xieling thought he had done the hand gesture wrong but after recalling it carefully there was nothing wrong. When he pulled up the sleeve of his dress he realised that there were overlapping golden cuffs worn on his wrist locked with magic.

Looking at the runes on it he instantly wilted. These were magic suppression cuffs making it impossible for him to call upon his magic abilities including and not limited to spellcasting or wild shape in the case of druids. This thing was powerful enough to subdue the magic of even mighty wizards when secured tightly.

Qie Xieling tugged at the chain in frustration while cursing. He thought maybe with his strength he could pull the chain out of the stone wall and free himself.

He crouched down pulling like he was playing tug of war. He pulled so hard until the veins in his arm and temple were pulsing but the chain was well mounted to the wall. Qie Xieling lay on the ground in frustration.

Boran was tired of his groaning and whining thus he opened the door only to find Eling on the floor. He looked like a toddler who was throwing a tantrum on the ground. Boran crossed his arms on his chest before saying, "Are you done?"

Qie Xieling sat up and pulled up the chain while complaining, "Is this necessary? I want to go to the toilet."

Boran glared at him but Qie Xieling wasn’t timid. He looked right back at him with a stubborn gaze. Boran rolled his eyes before tossing the key to him. "If you run I will break your legs," he said and Qie Xieling stuck out his tongue at him. How was this his best friend? He was nothing like Bo Ailun. Bobo would never treat him like that even when he was as annoying as hell.
