Chapter 112: "Lin Lin, I am leaving."

Qie Xieling was hooked up to a tangle of wires and tubes but he was smiling happily at his two dads. It was as though the recent events did not affect him.

With a plop, The big bear fell to the ground and Wen Qinxi’s eyes were filled with tears. He rushed over to his bedside and stood there not knowing whether to hug him or not. Fearing that hugging would pull on the wound he settled to touching his hair while rubbing Qie Xieling’s forehead with his thumb.

"My poor baby. You scared me half to death," he said in a choked whisper while Qie Ranzhe placed the big bear on the couch.

"How are you feeling? Does anything hurt?" asked Qie Ranzhe and Qie Xieling shook his head but in truth he couldn’t feel anything at this time because of the pain medication.

Dad," he said, his voice barely audible. "I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to worry you."

Tears suddenly streamed down Wen Qinxi’s face. "It’s okay, Lin Lin," he said, his voice shaking. "You’re going to be okay."

Seeing this Qie Ranzhe’s heart shattered into pieces. He walked over and pulled Wen Qinxi into a hug and comforted him. Wen Qinxi was overwhelmed with emotion, grateful that their son pulled through the ordeal. If anything had happened to his son he wouldn’t know how he would live after that.

Qie Xieling bit his lips hard watching his dad crying in his father’s arms. He knew it was out of his control that this happened to him but he never wanted to worry his father like that ever again.

Qie Xieling finally got his hands on a new cellphone and all his previous data was restored by his dad. While his parents were sleeping watching over him, he pulled up the covers and unlocked his cell phone underneath the quilt.

Despite telling his parents that they could leave they chose to stay and thus he hadn’t had the chance to message Luo Muchen.

Now that they were fast asleep and snoring, he pulled up the chat interface with Luo Muchen and typed in a message.

CutieLin: Are you okay?

The message was sent but it seemed the recipient was still offline. Qie Xieling pursed his lips as he stared at the blinking cursor on the text box.

He knew he wouldn’t get the message yet but he still typed another message.

CutieLin: Call me as soon as you get this.

After that, Qie Xieling sighed before closing the chat between the two. He turned to Bo Ailun’s messages. There were thirty unread messages and some were from two days ago. He was asking him where he was and if he was safe.

The new messages were mostly about how Senior Su and her band of bullies were beaten up by someone and had to go to the hospital for treatment.

He mentioned how the universe was fair and how karma was real but Qie Xieling had a sneaky suspicion that this had nothing to do with Karma. It was no coincidence. Qie Xieling left the chat with Bo Ailun and wrote Luo Muchen another message.

CutieLin: Did you beat up Su Su and her friends?

After sending this Bo Ailun sent another message complaining.

BoBo: You dare leave me on read?

BoBo: You are so heartless.

Qie Xieling smiled slightly typing back.

CutieLin: I was reading all the thirty messages you wrote.

CutieLin: it’s like reading an essay lol.

Bo Ailun pretended to be mad at him sending angry expression packs and gifs. Qie Xieling apologised and the conversation steered to how he was feeling.

Qie Xieling detailed how he was feeling and when Bo Ailun was at ease he asked him;

CutieLin: Have you seen Muchen ever since?

Bo Ailun took some time to respond and when he did his answer was unexpected.

BoBo: No but some parents aren’t too happy with him and his mother.

BoBo: My mom said that in the parent group, they are saying how convenient it was that Muchen had so many bodyguards.

BoBo: After their kids were saved they had the nerve to complain that if Muchen wasn’t there on the trip in the first place none of this would have happened.

BoBo: Lin Lin, you should be prepared. He might not come back to school.

Qie Xieling felt a knot in his heart while staring at the series of messages in a daze. His fingers trembled slightly as he dialled Luo Muchen’s number. He held no hope that it would go through but he still tried to call him.

As expected the call went to voice mail and Qie Xieling’s nose felt sour hearing that kind lady stating the unavailability of this contact.

The rest of his thirty-five hours in the hospital felt like a blur. Despite trying to pay attention to his dads speaking to him his mind kept on returning to the thoughts of Luo Muchen.

When they arrived home he still hadn’t heard from him. Using his recovery as an excuse he stayed in his room more than half the time. He couldn’t function properly and even when playing games he was too distracted to the point that he lowered his rank drastically.

On the seventh day while sleeping in, his cell phone rang. Qie Xieling stretched out his hand from underneath the quilt and fumbled around feeling for his cell phone. When he found it he pulled it into the quilt and answered with a groggy voice.

"Hello," he said his eyes sheepish. Qie Xieling turned over and said hello again but there was silence on the other end.

"Ugh, if you arent going to say something I am going to hang up," he said placing his cell phone on his cheek before placing his arm between his legs.

"Lin Lin, it’s me," said a familiar voice. From his voice, one could tell he wasn’t his usual self. It was deep and rough with a weary tone.

Qie Xieling immediately sat up his heart racing. He checked the screen and when he saw it was indeed Luo Muchen’s number he got out of bed and asked,

"Where are you? I will come to you?"

Luo Muchen raised his head and glanced at the private jet in front of him. He suddenly didn’t know how to say it. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Qie Xieling pulled out a pair of sweatpants and changed into them. "You have some fuckin nerve leaving me hanging for days. Who do you think you are? The president?" complained Qie Xieling while putting on his t-shirt.

"When I see you I am going to punch you in the gut once so you feel how I felt these past few days. You are such an asshole," he said only for him to freeze on the spot when Luo Muchen said this,

"Lin Lin, I am leaving."
