Road to becoming the wealthiest: Starting From Treasure Hunting in the Cabinets-Chapter 25 - Blind Bidding
Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Blind Bidding!
Chapter 25 -25: Blind Bidding!
After leaving the bar, Sean Knight went to the supermarket and bought two semi-finished roast chickens to take back to his rented house.
Aunt Susan happened to be sitting in the courtyard basking in the sun, so Sean showed her the roast chickens:
“Mrs. Susan, this is for you. Thank you for the delicious pie!”
“Really? That’s great! I’ll bake more and give them to you in the future.” Aunt Susan was very satisfied with Sean’s gratitude and thought he was a nice young man from China.
The next day, Sean drove to the address given by Mr. John.
As expected, it was not far from the port. There were many small warehouses built here, mostly constructed like the colored steel movable board houses in China.
Following John’s instructions, Sean went to the Administration Office, where a fat, middle-aged white woman was sitting in front of the counter.
“What business do you have?” she asked.
“I want to buy the exploration rights for abandoned warehouses.”
“180 dollars for the basic exploration fee, 14 dollars for taxes, 100 dollars for the sanitation cleaning deposit, a total of…”
At this point, the fat woman began to use a calculator.
“294 dollars,” Sean couldn’t help but say. Did this number need a calculator? Wouldn’t a second-grade student in China be able to calculate this mentally?
The woman looked at Sean with a puzzled expression and some displeasure. She reset the calculator and did the calculations again.
Sean realized that she thought he had interrupted her train of thought while calculating. Unbelievable!
“294 dollars,” the woman looked at the number on the calculator and said to Sean expressionlessly.
Sean paid the money, and the woman gave him a board with a dozen warehouse numbers on it. She said to Sean, “Pick one.”
Sean hesitated for a moment, surprised by this method of operation.
No need to bid, just blindly buy!
Sean hesitated for a moment and then asked, “Can I go and have a look first and then come back to buy?”
“They’re all locked, what can you see?” The woman was somewhat impatient.
“I’m planning to buy three!” Sean used his trump card.
The woman hesitated for a moment and then agreed.
Sean glanced at the numbers, noted them, and left to check out the warehouses.
“Take your voucher!” The woman leaned out of the counter to remind him.
Sean turned around, took the voucher, thanked the woman, and hurried off to see the warehouses.
He noticed that there were other cars coming. Most of those people were probably here to pick up blind box warehouses too.
Among the warehouse numbers, Sean started from the nearest, examining Warehouse No.4. The Sky Eye scanned the interior, finding a small used lawnmower worth less than 100 dollars.
There were some other machine parts, but Sean simply gave up on them.
For Warehouse No.11, there were more than a dozen fishing rods and a few boxes of deep sea fishing lures (imitation small fish) with price tags of 15 dollars per box, totaling more than ten boxes.
There was also a large box of reels, and to Sean’s surprise, one of the reel boxes had a price tag of 350 dollars!
Was this thing so expensive?
Sean noted it down and moved on to the next one.
Among the dozen warehouses, Sean picked two that seemed particularly worth gambling on. One was Warehouse No.11 with the fishing rods. Sean estimated that they could be sold for around five thousand dollars, which would be a small profit.
The second one was Warehouse No.17, which contained gun cases, a pistol, and four boxes of bullets!
Other than that, Sean also found two professional-grade DJI drones and two toy-grade drones.
Although they were second-hand, the boxes and invoices were all in good condition. It was a good find.
The total value of these items in the warehouse was not as much as the fishing rods, but it was also possible that Sean didn’t know how to value them. He would have to ask Mr. John for help with appraising them later.
Sean told the woman he wanted to buy four warehouses. In addition to the other two warehouses, one was No.24, which contained some agricultural tools, chainsaws, circular saws, etc. There were new and second-hand ones, totaling around seven or eight hundred dollars.
The other one, Warehouse No.33, contained a second-hand, hard-bottom plastic boat and some barrels. The more valuable item was a fairly powerful marine gasoline engine, which could be sold for about 500-600 dollars.

The rest didn’t have anything valuable left.
Sean quickly returned to the Administration Office and saw several people paying for their purchases.
Seeing Sean Knight coming, the woman said to him:
“Please wait a moment; I’ll help you after he finishes paying!”
Sean took out the money to finish the payment and waited.
The woman spoke to the people behind Sean:
“He has already completed the procedures; now, he’s just waiting to pick a number.”
Since the other people knew that the warehouses were locked and there was no point in taking a tour around, nobody argued.
Someone who recognized Sean asked him:
“Sean, are you here to check out the warehouses too?”
Sean thought the face looked familiar but didn’t know the name. It must have been from the container auction, so he replied:
“Yeah! The competition at the container area is too fierce, and I don’t have much capital. So, I came here to try my luck. How about you?”
The man replied with a bitter smile:
“Same for me! I initially thought I could get great deals from the container auction, but I didn’t just need to rely on my judgment but also my financial ability! I don’t have much money either, so I came here.”
“Good luck to you!” Sean said with a smile.
The man sincerely replied:
“Good luck to you too – I think your luck has always been good; it should be fine this time too!”
“It’s your turn!” the white woman interrupted Sean and the man’s conversation.
Sean nodded apologetically at the man and went over to pay and choose a number.
Then he found out that warehouse number 24 with the chainsaw was already taken by the previous person!
Feeling unlucky, he reported the following numbers:
“11, 17, 33, 38.”
Inside warehouse 38, he remembered there were several boxes of unrecognizable parts and nothing else.
These parts were new stock. Maybe they were worth some money?
Seeing that Sean actually spent more than a thousand dollars on four warehouses, the man was somewhat surprised.
Sean smiled at him and went to open the warehouses.
He drove his car right up to the warehouse, used the pipe wrench borrowed from the administration office to cut the lock, and opened the warehouse.
Since he had already checked them out, there were no surprises.
Sean, however, had to put on a surprised expression:
“Wow! So, the previous owner was a fishing enthusiast!”
The man he had been chatting to earlier also came over and said:
“Or maybe a beautiful girl who loves fishing – look at that photo; it should be her, right?”
It was then that Sean noticed a small framed photo next to the container with reels. A beautiful girl in a bikini was smiling at him.
Regardless of whether it was a beautiful girl or not, it didn’t matter since these items already belonged to him.
“Sean, you’re really lucky!” the man exclaimed in awe when he saw the fishing rods:
“Just one of these rods is worth two thousand dollars when new… Although the wear is somewhat severe, there will definitely be people interested in them. After all, this is a brand-name item!”
There were more than ten rods here!
“Oh, not all of them… Alright, there are four; that’s still great.”
Sean didn’t expect a fishing rod to be so expensive!
However, considering the reel was over three hundred dollars, it made sense.
The man extended his hand to Sean:
“I’m Tuck. If you don’t mind, let’s exchange contact information. Sometimes I also deal with second-hand goods!”
“Sure.” Sean exchanged contact information with him, and the other man went to open his warehouse.
Sean cleaned out some of the garbage, but he didn’t dare to throw away any remaining items – he originally thought that those fishing rods would be worth just a few dollars each. This was beyond his comprehension!
Alright, he could leave the rest for Mr. John to figure out!
