Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 93: Lu Zhen’s Advise
Chapter 93: Chapter 93: Lu Zhen’s Advise
"Keep practicing. It might be useful in the future, but be careful with everything you do. Don’t expose yourself." Lu Zhen advised.
He was sure Lu Tao’s increase in his ability to code had something to do with the meteorite, but didn’t mention it.
Leaving the bedroom, Lu Zhen went to get his wife and the two went back to their apartment for their own practice.
Unlike the last few days when they practiced separately, this time they both went into the bathroom.
When Leng Pan entered the bathroom following Lu Zhen, she remembered the previous night’s actions and blushed.
However, she quickly schooled her expression and retracted her derailed thoughts. This wasn’t the time to think about unnecessary things.
Leng Pan filled the bathtub with water and like always, added some spiritual spring water. This time, she added more than before.
She had thought long and hard about the real reason she was recovering faster than before, even without drinking spiritual spring water, and came to the conclusion that it had something to do with the water she had absorbed during her practice.
So, she decided to add more. She also suspected that the zombies had been afraid of getting close to the mist barrier she created because the water used had some effect on them.
Judging from the scream coming from that mutated zombie in the car dealership shop when she cut its arm, the water she produced must cause zombies some damage and pain.
There was no other reason for this but the water. Now, she wanted to make the weapons and barriers she created even more lethal, so she decided to use at least three liters of spiritual spring water instead of just one.
Once the water in the bathtub was ready, Leng Pan removed her clothes to her underwear and sat inside.
Lu Zhen had stood aside watching her do her thing without a word. Seeing her taking off her clothes, he swallowed saliva to moisten his throat that had become dry.
However, when he saw her sit down cross-legged and close her eyes to meditate, he stopped himself from starting something that would ensure they had no time for training.
He went to the other side and filled a basin with water for his own practice.
Their superpowers had changed, and they still had no idea how much it affected their use.
Just as she had done the first few days, Leng Pan started to absorb the water in the bathtub. She had made a decision to absorb warm or hot water before but after realizing that her superpower had made a secondary evolution and could control temperature, she saw no use in it.
Now she didn’t experience any pain when absorbing water. Also, it took a shorter time to absorb a full bathtub than before.
As time went by, the water in the bathtub kept reducing. This was the first time Lu Zhen had seen this kind of training. He had always thought that Leng Pan was simply learning how to control water. He hadn’t expected such a surprise.
No wonder she had so much water to create a mist that could cover both of them. However, now that she was able to control the water element in the atmosphere or water bodies, there was no need to absorb so much water.
However, Lu Zhen trusted his wife more than anyone else and knew that she had a reason for absorbing water now.
In less than thirty minutes, Leng Pan had finished absorbing water and opened her eyes. She felt better even without doing anything else.
Looking at the bathroom that still carried some humid atmosphere from the steam released during their shower that morning, she concentrated her mind on one spot at the other side of the bathtub.
She wasn’t sure what she wanted to do, but for some reason, her subconscious seemed to be telling her something.
She followed her instincts and kept concentrating. Without a clear idea of what she was doing, it felt pointless to waste time and energy not knowing what the results would be.
Whatever she was doing was draining her spiritual power fast, but soon, a mist started to form at the place she was concentrating on.
It started to take the shape of a human and transitioned from being transparent to being translucent. It kept forming until a figure mirroring Leng Pan sat opposite her.
It looked like two versions of Leng Pan, almost like a reflection of herself.
It had the same face, the same expression, and the same everything.
She wondered if it could be controlled like a puppet or if it could only mirror her actions. She wanted to try but before she could try anything, the reflection started to fade and soon disappeared.
This was a result of overusing her ability and exhausting her spiritual power. She hadn’t been too thoughtful about the duplication but since it was her first time, it was fine.
Moreover, she had tried it without knowing what she was doing. It was almost as if her body had followed muscle memory to create that duplicate.
As soon as this thought came to mind, a sharp pain pierced her head. It was the kind of pain that felt like someone had taken a knife and pierced through her flesh and bones.
She also felt as if someone was whispering something to her but the voice was distant and distorted. After the pain subsided, she didn’t bother with wondering why or how she had experienced such kind of pain.
From the voice, even though she didn’t hear what was said or understand what it could be, she thought it must be related to the memories the AI voice in the mansion had mentioned.
She opened her eyes and looked around only to find Lu Zhen watching her with a surprised expression.
"Did you just duplicate?" He asked with his expression still showing that he could not believe what he had just witnessed.
"Yes. Don’t ask me how because I don’t know. Something in my subconscious just told me to do so and that fake version of me appeared." Leng Pan explained how she came to have that capability.
"It looks like the ’Commander Leng’ title that voice called you with yesterday wasn’t groundless." Lu Zhen chimed while thinking of the way her ability could serve as a decoy in case they needed an escape opportunity in the future.
Lu Zhen had no idea that one day they would really use this ability to escape the pursuit of some power-hungry creatures and humans who thought Lu Zhen and Leng Pan were a threat to their livelihood.
"Hahaha...you have too much faith in me." Leng Pan said while laughing.
"Of course, my wife is incredible." Replied Lu Zhen with a smug smile.
This little banter broke the tense atmosphere that the training had created. Now Leng Pan felt lighter and also got inspired to use the humidity within the room to try and create the other version of herself with it.
She was going to use the same principle she used when she created a water blade in the mansion. It felt like controlling the water element in the surroundings and using it for herself.
She closed her eyes and thought about the feeling she felt yesterday when she created the water blade. It was a surreal sensation, almost like she had become one with the water droplets in the air.
As if the water blade were an extension of her arm when she held it. It was the same feeling, or even more pronounced, when the water blade turned into an ice blade.
That feeling slowly came back and Leng Pan started to move her hands slightly. She used her hands as a guiding light to start shaping a person on the other side of the room. This time, she didn’t need her reflection to be so close to her.
She also wanted to know if she could make her change her expression and actions according to her will.
