Return of the Youngest Son with SSS-Rank Talent-Chapter 63: Party
Chapter 63: Party
Two hours later.
Kael was sitting in a luxurious black leather and wood armchair. In front of him, a small table held two wines, one sweet and one sour, along with some bittersweet desserts and other delicacies.
He took a glass and poured some of the sweet wine. His gaze shifted to the woman in front of him, who had once been his fiancée and now appeared visibly nervous in his presence.
"What did you want to talk to me about?" His voice emerged calm, devoid of emotion, imbued only with indifference.
Evelyn, dressed in a black and purple dress that gave her a different, more mature and attractive air, tensed up. She had thought that when Kael mentioned meeting in two hours, it was a lie.
Who would want to find their fiancée in a loving embrace with their brother?
She pushed those thoughts away, and her eyes filled with a hatred that bordered on madness.
"I want to join you so I can get revenge on Jasper. That bastard got away with everything he did to me." Her voice dripped with venom as she uttered the name of the fourth young master of the Medici clan.
This is another example of the butterfly effect: two people who once loved each other are now enemies.
Kael felt expectant about the changes this twist might bring to the future.
"So, since your soul mate rejected you, now you seek revenge? Why should I help you? We no longer have any connection."
Evelyn clenched her fists tightly. She knew she had no right to ask for anything. Besides, after what had happened a few days earlier, what right did she have to ask Kael for help? But desperation consumed her. freewebnøvel_com
She longed for revenge. She knew she couldn’t harm a young master of the Medici clan, one of the great duchies of the kingdom of Aragon. She had only one last desperate attempt left.
"I know I’m in no position to ask you for anything, but I want to see that bastard brought down. I’ll do anything you want. Use me as you see fit."
Kael lowered his head to hide the cold, broad smile that spread across his lips. Although he had already considered several ways to finish Jasper off, he hadn’t expected Evelyn to offer herself in this way.
This would save him a lot of trouble. He couldn’t help but laugh to himself, amused.
Who would have thought that he would receive help from the woman who had made his life hell before his regression?
He looked up again and fixed his eyes on Evelyn’s blue ones, which had once sparkled but now lay dull.
"I will accept you joining me. But we will not act now."
A look of confusion appeared on Evelyn’s face. "Why aren’t we going to act now?"
"I’ll tell you when the time is right." Kael revealed nothing. He would not share his plan, as any leak could ruin everything. "But don’t forget that when the time comes, you cannot go against my word."
Evelyn nodded. She would not resist; she would obey like a doll, moving according to his orders. All she wanted was Jasper’s downfall: to see him desperate, suffering everything she had endured.
"You can go now." Kael waved his hand dismissively.
Evelyn rose from the luxurious armchair, curtsied, and left the room.
Kael turned his gaze toward the window. At that moment, the reflection did not show a fifteen-year-old boy, but a four-hundred-year-old man. His eyes, black as the void between the stars, absorbed the light instead of reflecting it. For a moment, his shadow on the glass lengthened.
...
Night had fallen. The sky, dark as a wolf’s jaws, was studded with stars. The moon, round and grayish-white, hid behind clouds that drifted freely.
The breeze swayed the branches of the mountain trees and other wild plants. The songs of crickets, owls, wolves, and other wild animals echoed in the air.
In the city, the houses glowed with their light, while the faint rays of the moon illuminated the streets.
They were bustling with activity. The caravan, which was to depart in a few days, was livelier than ever, offering products that were a luxury for commoners at low prices.
That’s why the night was buzzing with unusual energy.
To the south of the city, in a large hall, a party was in full swing. A large group of nobles, including the Lovish and Draken families, enlivened the place. The women wore elegant dresses of various colors, while the men wore refined linen suits.
The sounds of the guqin, dizi, and erhu filled the air, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The nobles conversed enthusiastically, without losing the composure befitting their status.
"My dear, have you noticed the absence of our beloved Lord Dainthar tonight?"
"Oh, how could I forget? They say he is busy... Or perhaps he is just afraid that his new wife will compare the courtiers to his guards. The latter were more... enthusiastic."
"Cruel! But fair. Though not as much as poor Lady Sylrianne. After her incident, rumor has it that her dowry now includes a cup of poison for the first suitor who looks at her without gloves."
"Speaking of suitors... Did you know that young Master Soren has been visiting the young lady of the Lovish family? They say he reads poetry in her garden."
"Lady Scarlett and young master Jasper have arrived!" someone shouted.
The music stopped, and all eyes turned to the two figures entering the great hall.
One of them was Jasper, with hair as red as blood and bright scarlet eyes. His prominent nose and thin lips gave him an attractive face, although he lacked a markedly masculine presence.
Next to him stood Lady Scarlett, with dark blue hair and silver eyes, her face flawless. Her thin lips were partially hidden behind a fan decorated with the symbol of the Medici Clan. She wore a blue dress adorned with floral patterns and lace gloves, which accentuated her distinguished presence.
The entire room held its breath when Scarlett stepped onto the marble floor. Her silk shoes made no sound, but each step echoed in the bones of those present.
Her silver eyes scanned the room for Kael, but they did not find him. Alessia was not there either. In the great hall were the handcuffed clan chiefs, along with their children.
The only ones missing were Kael and Alessia.
Time passed. The clouds cleared, revealing the moon, which shone brightly. With Scarlett’s arrival, the atmosphere livened up; the music sounded more harmonious.
But, at the end of the party, Kael and Alessia never showed up.
