REINCARNATION OF THE STRONGEST WAR HERO-Chapter 334: When The Sky Darkens
"He actually awakened a new ability! But how is that even possible? Aren’t abilities like that only awakened after reaching the God Realm? He’s only in the Martial Saint Realm. He hasn’t even formed a Nascent Soul yet... and still..." Zola’s words trailed off. Bewilderment was written all over his face.
Meanwhile...
’Telekinesis? What’s that? And what God Realm?’ Chianxu wondered inwardly.
The female voice within Zola said nothing, as if she too was too shocked to process what had just happened.
Inside Logan’s subconscious world...
Logan’s eyes, cold and icy from moments ago, had turned red. Tears gathered at the corners. Slowly, he lowered Alice onto the ground. "I’m sorry, Mother," he said, his voice trembling. "I couldn’t protect you. I’m really sorry..." At last, the tears could no longer be held back.
Alice raised a trembling hand and gently caressed his cheek. "Silly boy," she said softly. "What is there to be sorry about? It’s only a minor injur..."
"Blarrghhh!"
Before she could finish, blood suddenly gushed from her mouth.
Logan’s limbs went numb. It felt as if his heart had shattered into pieces.
The enemies were still closing in from all sides, but Logan’s entire focus was fixed on his mother. Nothing else mattered. If she was gone... then nothing else in this world deserved to exist for him.
"Mother... I won’t let anything happen to you," Logan said, his voice low and trembling.
By then, Rudeous, Rowan, and the other two girls had already arrived. The moment Rudeous saw Alice’s condition, he dropped to his knees. "Alice..." he whispered, his voice breaking. "Why did this happen to you...? Why...?"
Alice looked at him with emotional eyes.
She tried to speak. Her lips parted slightly, but no words came out.
Logan tightened his hold on her, panic and desperation filling his chest. "Mother, please don’t leave me. Lilith... yes, Lilith has healing magic. She’s here too. She can save you," Logan said hurriedly, as if trying to convince himself as much as everyone else.
At that exact moment, a monster closed in and swung its claw toward them.
"Scram!"
Logan didn’t even turn to look. The instant that single word left his mouth, a suffocating pressure descended upon the monster.
And in the next moment...
Splatter!
Blood and flesh exploded everywhere as the creature was blown apart.
Logan immediately turned toward Lilith. "Lilith... you’re here. Please. Please save my mother," he begged desperately.
Lilith said nothing. She quickly crouched beside Alice, placing one palm on her chest and the other on the grotesque limb still embedded in her body.
A green aura began to emanate from her hands.
Alice felt a warm current spread through her body. But before the sensation could last...
"Blarrghhh!"
Another mouthful of blood spilled from her lips. Her face turned even paler than before.
Lilith’s expression darkened.
"It’s not looking good," she said helplessly. "The damage is too severe. It nearly pierced her heart from the inside. I... I don’t think my healing magic is enough to save her."
"Bullshit! I think you just don’t want to save my mother!" Logan shouted. He grabbed Lilith’s hand tightly. "Please... save her. I beg you." Logan pleaded, not even noticing he was hurting Lilith.
Lilith winced in pain, but she didn’t pull her hand away. She understood the pressure and terror Logan was under. The pain in his eyes. She could see it.
"I... I really..." she began, but the words refused to come out. She simply couldn’t bring herself to say what Logan didn’t want to hear.
Rudeous’s eyes were also red, tears rolling down his face uncontrollably.
"Honey..." Alice said weakly as she looked at Logan. "Don’t be sad. I will always be with you. No... no matter what." Each word seemed to drain the last of her strength as she struggled even to breathe.
Logan gritted his teeth and released Lilith’s hand. His fists clenched as he tried to suppress the unbearable pain throbbing inside his chest.
He wished he could stop the time. Or turn it back... even just a few minutes. Rage was burning within him. Rage at his own weakness. Rage at his inability to save his own mother.
Without Logan even noticing, something strange was happening. The rubble scattered across the ground began to vibrate as if an earthquake were coming. But it wasn’t just inside his subconscious world.
Outside the cave, dust and small stones also began trembling where Logan was seated in lotus position. A cold, suffocating aura slowly spread outward from his body.
Zola’s eyes narrowed. Neither the small particles moving nor the sudden shift in the air went unnoticed by him. "I hope this doesn’t go the wrong way," he whispered.
Within Logan, the final trace of the blood essence disappeared, completely merging with his body.
It was supposed to be a great achievement.
A great moment.
But something unexpected happened instead. Inside Logan’s subconscious world...
"Mother... I know. I know you will always be with m..."
Logan’s words suddenly stopped.
Alice’s pupils had gone still.
"Mother?" Logan asked softly, a deep fear rising in his chest.
Something had happened.
Something his heart refused to accept.
Alice did not answer. She did not even try. Her body lay motionless. Silent.
Dead!
Rudeous shut his eyes tightly as tears rolled down his face.
Logan froze.
He didn’t move. He didn’t speak. It felt as if his heart had been shackled and thrown into a bottomless abyss.
Outside the cave...
Zola noticed it immediately and looked up at the sky.
Just moments ago, it had been perfectly clear. But now...
Darkness was spreading. Heavy clouds began gathering overhead.
In the battlefield outside the Chong family estate, both the members of the spirit families and the evil spirit families suddenly stopped fighting.
Everyone looked toward the sky in the north-west. They could all feel it. The dread rising in the air. An ominous presence. As if something was trying to claw its way out.
Something ancient. Something terrifying and devastating.
