REINCARNATION OF THE STRONGEST WAR HERO-Chapter 331: The Battlefield Of Despair
Though the opponents grew stronger, Logan’s gaze never faltered, nor did his attacks become clumsy. Instead, he adapted instinctively, without even realizing it himself.
His strikes continued to improve — faster, fiercer, and far more destructive.
The owner of the female voice wasn’t finished yet. The enemies kept growing stronger and more overwhelming. Yet Logan continued to keep up with their pace.
At the same time, the blood essence within his body merged deeper and faster.
Meanwhile, outside the Chong Family estate, chaos reigned across the battlefield.
The Spirit Families had twelve Martial Sovereigns. But with Hueng Long and Feng Dao already out of the fight, only ten remained to hold the line.
The Evil Spirit Families, on the other hand, had one more Martial Sovereign from the beginning. And now, with only the eldest guardian of the Chong Family dead, they held a numerical advantage of two.
What had once been a stalemate was now turning into a one-sided massacre. And after tasting their own blood, the members of the evil spirit families had grown stronger. Their power was still increasing by leaps and bounds, defying all logic.
"Scum!" Jong Dao cursed under his breath as he continued fighting his opponent while slowly advancing toward where Feng Dao’s body lay.
He looked desperate to reach him — clearly trying to check on the condition of the family head.
Behind him, two more members of the Dao Family were doing the same.
One was Lin Dao.
The other was Perk Dao.
Both of them were Martial Kings, and their opponents were Martial Kings as well.
However, Lin Dao still held the upper hand even though her opponent had also tasted his own blood. Among her peers, she was considered a true prodigy. She was already close to a breakthrough to the next realm when her peers only stepped into the realm she was in now.
Her opponent thrust his spear forward with both hands just as Lin attempted to move past him to follow her father.
She was wielding two daggers — one in each hand. She swiftly raised one dagger to block the spear strike, but the sheer force behind the attack still sent her tumbling across the ground.
Perk Dao was not far away from her. "Lin!" he shouted in panic.
Forcing himself free from his opponent, he rushed toward her to help.
But before he could reach her, both his opponent and Lin’s opponent launched devastating attacks at them.
Perk barely had time to react. He was almost about to be cut down by their weapons.
At the last moment, Lin threw a small locket.
The artifact erupted with power, absorbing the full force of the attacks. The impact blasted both enemies backward.
Perk Dao let out a deep sigh of relief. He quickly rushed toward Lin. "Thanks, Lin," he said with a relieved grin. "I didn’t know you liked me this much to even throw away a priceless defensive artifact just to protect me."
Even in such a chaotic situation, he still managed to say it with a satisfied smile.
But Lin didn’t even bother looking at him.
"I only did what I had to," she said coldly. "Anyone else in your place wouldn’t have changed what I did."
With that, she immediately rushed forward again, chasing after her father.
The smile vanished from Perk Dao’s face, but he quickly followed after her.
Jong Dao was trying his best to separate himself from his opponent, but the evil spirit family member clung to him like glue.
Just as Jong Dao was growing increasingly desperate to check on his father...
Lin arrived. She slashed forward with both daggers, unleashing two sharp arcs of energy.
She was still several meters away, but because the opponent was focused on Jong Dao, the sudden attack startled him for a brief moment.
And that moment was exactly what Jong Dao had been waiting for. In the blink of an eye, he concentrated all his internal energy into his fist and drove a powerful punch straight into his opponent’s gut.
The enemy was blasted backward, heavily injured.
Jong Dao immediately rushed toward Feng Dao and dropped to his knees beside him. He quickly checked his pulse and breathed a sigh of relief.
He found that Feng Dao was still alive, though barely clinging to life.
Without hesitation, Jong Dao pulled a pill from his pouch and pushed it into Feng Dao’s mouth.
"Father! Swallow it quickly!"
But Feng Dao couldn’t swallow. He didn’t have even an ounce of strength left. The fact that he was still alive was already a miracle.
Seeing no other option, Jong Dao channeled his internal energy and forced the pill down his father’s throat.
The pill quickly dissolved. Moments later, color slowly returned to Feng Dao’s eyes.
The pill worked like a miracle.
Feng Dao couldn’t help but cough twice as Jong Dao helped him sit up. His eyes slowly swept across the battlefield, and his expression darkened.
"Is it going to end like this...?" he whispered.
A moment later, Hueng Long’s body came into view in the distance, lying sprawled on the ground. No movement. "Jong," Feng Dao said weakly. "I can’t move. Go and check how he is doing. Ask him about the boy... Logan."
Even at a moment like this, when everywhere he looked, his own people were being beaten down and dying, when the future seemed completely hopeless, he still clung to a sliver of hope. Still hoping that the tiny spark in the distance would turn out to be the rising sun, one that would drive away all the darkness.
"But Father, you’re in no condition for me to leave y...."
Feng Dao slowly raised his hand, cutting him off. "This is no time to worry about small things," he said firmly. "A single person like me dying means nothing. But if there is no reinforcement... no sudden change in the tide of battle... our Spirit Families will cease to exist." He looked directly at Jong Dao. "You understand that, don’t you?"
Jong Dao still looked unwilling, but in the end, he nodded. He turned toward Lin. "Take care of him for a moment."
With those words, Jong Dao immediately rushed toward Hueng Long.
