Reincarnated With The Van Helsing System-Chapter 624: Challenges Daimon & Nethereal sisters, Jazmine’s version (part 13)
"Gah!", the impact of being smacked against the ground out nowhere made the poison nethereal woman, let out a pained sound, blood was forced out of her mouth, but the damage wasn't that high.
At least the physical one, since the emotional damage of having her face pressed against the dirt due to the sudden pressure that rained down from above, made her grit her teeth, luckily at the same time as when her face hit the ground, she had finished casting the spell for which she used her medal.
Earlier she rushed at Cassy since the light green haired girl had broken out of the poison prison way too fast, in exchange for using an insane amount of mana to cast that altar spell, so the poison nethereal thought of ambushing her when she was at her weakest point.
Unfortunately, it seemed like she still had an ace up her sleeve, and she was a second too late to enter her strongest state, which led to her being humiliated like this, by an enemy that is already at the end of the rope.
"Poison Special Corps, Assassin!", the previous took long to explain but it happened a fraction of a second after the poison nethereal was smacked against the ground, her body exploded in dark green nether that was then absorbed by the mana camouflage armor she had been using until now, before the thing fused with her skin.
The result was that a dark green pattern was imprinted into her body and she also broke out of the suppression that smacked her against the ground.
"Crack!", the ground below the nethereal woman exploded as she propelled herself at Cassy.
"Battleground Corrosive Blade!", not wanting to give a chance to the light green haired girl of living, the poison nethereal went as far as using a spell in this state, where even her normal attacks would carry the strength on a spell just by themselves.
But contrary to what she expected, despite the obvious low mana reserves that Cassy had, she didn't retreat and instead met her poison mana cladded knives head on with her green jade sword.
"Southern Attack Gate".
"Booom!", a collision between dark and light green energies, engulfed the vicinity as the knives and the green jade sword clashed.
The result was that the poison nethereal was forced backwards nearly two hundred meters, her hands with which she was holding her knives were trembling due to the impact, not to mention that her knives shattered on the spot.
In contrast, Cassy only retreated a few dozens of meters and her green jade sword was perfectly fine, despite the previous, the poison nethereal had a triumphant expression on her face.
Because the light green mana coat that still faintly covered Cassy's body, completely disappeared, in other words she didn't have enough mana to keep on a continuous mana armor anymore, and for someone that fought head on at close combat while not being a knight, that was a huge problem.
Seeing the light of victory ahead of her, the poison nethereal decided to pressure the opponent even more.
"Traceles Step!", with a couple of words, the enemy's image flashed from her previous position appearing above Cassy with a cruel smile on her face.
"Battleground Poison Storm!", this was the battleground version of the "Poison Rain" she used earlier, the difference being that not only was there no poisonous cloud needed this time, but the fact that the attack didn't consist only in poison as well.
The poison nethereal threw her hands in opposite directions and the poison nether that had gathered around her turned into many small streams that poured down upon Cassy, who managed to catch a glimpse of the hidden knives inside of the poison, it was a double attack like that scorpion or the snake from before.
Seeing that the incoming attack had a really large area of affectation Cassy positioned her sword in front of her and then calmly said.
"North Defense Gate", she made it just in time for the countless streams of poison that contained knives in them to land on her all at the same time.
"Booom!", besides an energy explosion, continuous clinking sounds could be heard for nearly thirty seconds before the spell ended, leaving behind a devastated patch of ground that was filled with corroded holes and knives stuck here and there.
That being said and very much to the displease of the poison nethereal woman, once the toxic fumes that raised due to the poison entering in contact with the ground, were dispelled, the sight of a perfectly fine Cassy was revealed.

However, the last remaining bits of mana that were covering her green jade sword finally went off, which made the poison nethereal smirk.
"I must admit it, you were really better than what I expected, to think that an early Mortal realm mage would make me, who is at the middle stage and has the expanded energy reserve trait of a bishop piece, spend more than 60% of my nether, I guess one shouldn't underestimate the endurance that wood affinity gives to their users".
"But now you are empty so you are…", the words of the poison nethereal stuck on her throat as she saw Cassy, calmly walk towards her, she wasn't even using a movement spell but slowly walking in her direction.
"I'm what?", casually said the light green haired girl whose sword was pointed at the enemy, and the small green rhomboidal mark on her forehead was glowing.
'She doesn't have any mana left… so why, why am I feeling fear!', inwardly screamed the poison nethereal, all her hairs stood on their end as she saw the green jade sword of the enemy "undulate".
"Battleground Green Disaster!", the sensation of dread overcame the nethereal woman, making her use half of the nether reserves she had left in a single go, her eyes turned bloodshot as she released fierce waves of poison nether that expanded in every direction.
High into the sky, Erika suddenly grabbed the handle of her weapon as she glared at Daimon, like saying "Don't even think on interfering this time".
Jasmine who though trusted that her childhood friend would be fine, couldn't help but had a worried light flash through her pretty blue eyes, which to her happiness earned her a head pat from Daimon.
"After having faced that certain "someone" and not ending up as puddle of blood, do you think she'll be in any danger for that measly poison?", said Daimon, which made Jasmine cutely giggle as she nodded, being completely convinced that her friend would be perfectly fine, because if that wasn't the case, Daimon would have been the first to do something about it.
"Mm~",
Back to the fight, amidst the green disaster that was taking form in order to engulf Cassy, the light green haired girl slashed her sword frontwards and her pretty green eyes glowed as she said.
"West Manifestation Gate".
There was no explosion, for the poison nethereal it was as if the world had lost all its color for a split of a second, then… the green fierce flood that was supposed to drown everything in its way turned into dark green particles of nether that were then dispelled.
But things didn't end up with just that, with a "Thud", the right arm of the poison user nethereal, fell to the ground.
"Aghhhh!", naturally a pained scream followed, but the anger and indignation that the poison nethereal felt, helped her overcame the shock of losing her arm.
"How, just how the hell can you use such outrageous strong attack spells when you have no mana left, you are supposed to be a damn control type mage and you can't even cure the wounds you have received nor the poison that is infiltrating into your body!!!", she roared only for Cassy to chuckle in response.
"I wonder what wounds are you talking about?", she said as she showed her right hand, which had previously been damaged when she used the altar spell to break out of the poison prison.
That wasn't all, the faint traces of poison that had stuck to her as well as all the cuts she had received through the fight were completely gone as well, her skin was actually brimming with a healthy pale pink tone.
"Y-You, what the hell did you do!", shouted the poison nethereal woman seeing the previous, to which Cassy said.
"I tied with Chris I guess, it wasn't completely my fault though, since my focus was on a different aspect", then the border of the light green rhomboidal mark on her forehead turned white colored.
Under the disbelief of let alone the enemy, but even the vast majority of the people at the observation area, as well as some of the ones floating high into the sky, Cassy's body lit up in a though faint, still noticeable white light… she had awakened light affinity.
"If you had damn light affinity then why the hell did you follow through all this, you could have finished me a long time ago, who are you trying to trick here!", exclaimed the poison nethereal.
"Not my fault, this technique was developed to deal with extremely strong negative energies, I didn't expect my opponent to be so… weak, luckily that black/green nether was on par with what I expected, which is understandable".
"Also, I needed to make some preparations, this victory has to be perfect, it's for Jas's sake after all", said Cassy as she stabbed her sword on the ground.
"Booom!", four different explosions coming from different directions echoed through the battlefield, as pillars of white/green light raised into the air.
High into the sky, Daimon saw the spots from where the pillars of light originated and he raised an eyebrow.
'Those are the places where she used those spells' thought Daimon.
The four pillars of light were then absorbed into the ground, the result was that the devastated areas turned into small scale forests, but that wasn't the important part, but the fact that Cassy… had recovered all her mana, her light green hair and eyes were glowing as a sign of it.
The poison nethereal who was beyond words at the previous, directly turned into a dark green flash that shot into the distance at an insane speed, one that had surpassed the limits of the Lord rank, she directly used "Toxic Escape" without a second of hesitation, what a joke, if she took another attack like the one that cut her arm, she'll die for sure.
"Humph", naturally seeing her enemy trying to ruin the stage she has prepared to give Jasmine a little surprise, Cassy softly snorted to then say.
"Demon Subduing Fairy, Judgement Radiance!", the green and white mana covering Cassy glowed as she pointed her sword at the enemy who has gone too far into the distance.
The poison nethereal woman who was about to reach the border of the battlefield, suddenly felt an impending sensation of doom.
"Noooo!", she managed to scream one last time before dark green nether started escaping from her skin, eyes, nose, mouth and ears, in less than a second, she had turned into a dried corpse that fell from the air, breaking into bits after having turned brittle.
"I am a control type mage", said Cassy as she retrieved her sword to then smile at Jasmine's direction.
The green and white rhomboidal mark on her forehead faded away and surprisingly, so did her light affinity, apparently, it's something she could only use in that state, a similar restriction to the one that Reyne used to face when she wasn't in Nelapsi "mode" which prevented others from noticing she wasn't human and that she had blood affinity, but that had disappeared earlier when she fought her respective enemy queen.
'Mmm, she did obtain light affinity but it is tied to her lineage, only when she stimulates it, can it be used, still that is one strange light element, it was slightly similar to…'.
'She was a bit similar to me when I'm in Gram's form, right Daimon?', curiously asked Narasha, to which Daimon inwardly nodded.
'Well, she can't convert any energy into light unlike you, but the mana she used for those four spells was different than the one she uses normally and their remains basically emptied the vicinity of any kind of energy from the negative side of the spectrum to then turn it into mana and vitality for her', he said.
A pillar, a sword, a sealing bowl and an altar, those were the four spells that were the base of everything Cassy used, the "gate" spells she used weren't really spells, they were the result of Cassy redirecting some of the mana and vitality being gathered to stimulate her lineage, hence why they had similar functions to those four spells, but on a bigger scale.
'A control type mage that can use high requirement attack or defense spells in order to cast a virtually impossible to dodge control spell, not bad', concluded Daimon.
Unlike others who probably didn't understand why the poison nethereal died in a way that resembled something that Sarah would do to her enemies, Daimon could see it and he understood the basics behind of it at least.
When those pillars of light appeared, they spread countless incredibly small particles of light mana all over the battlefield, Cassy simply commanded them to attack her, and the way her light mana attacked was devouring any kind of energy from the negative side of the spectrum, which for a nethereal is basically… everything.
While the name of the spell included the word "radiance", the particles of light she used to attack were too small to be noticed, for the time being at least.
The funny part is that her light element probably became like that, not due to the enemies but due to Sarah, since after the crazy girl's real intentions were revealed, it became obvious for Cassy that Sarah went easy on her all those times they fought, of course she was grateful and even if she will never say it out loud, she respected Sarah for protecting Jasmine from the shadows, but she didn't like the fact that she was weak when compared to her.
"Cassy awakened light affinity like me, she is amazing, right?", excitedly said the princess of the Light Palace to Daimon, she was happy that her childhood friend had obtained the same affinity as hers, not to mention that her technique had a similar effect as the recovery spells she could use.
"Yes", faced with the cute happy expression on Jasmine's face and those sparkling eyes of hers, Daimon could do nothing but agree with her, unaware that the light green haired girl at the battlefield could listen to that little exchange.
[A bishop has been removed from the game, congratulations to the White Queen]
The announcement of victory came a second later and Cassy was transported out of the battlefield, which was for the best, her mana and vitality certainly recovered to her maximum capacity, which lead to her appear to be as if she was exactly the same as before the fight started.
But no matter if it is a spell, martial art or an innate ability, there is a price to it, and for Cassy, her mind was a bit tense, after entering that state, so now imagine the headache that came to her, when she appeared at the resting area, just to be welcomed by a certain crazy girl's words.
"That was a rather "dark" technique for someone that used to call my martial arts "wicked" are you sure you obtained light affinity and not darkness instead~", jokingly said Sarah.
Cassy felt a vein pop on her forehead, she knew this was going to happen, since through the years she was faced with all kinds of poisons that Sarah used in their little skirmishes, there was no way she would let go of the chance to mess with her since her light mana produced such an effect.
But then, as she felt a headache incoming, the crazy girl added.
"That was a nice win for little Jas", Cassy was taken aback by receiving a compliment from Sarah, she couldn't help but wonder if her mind was playing tricks to her, but then Sarah's next words made her realize this was the real world and not a hallucination.
"That being said, you can forget about such an incomplete thing working on me, I'll beat you black and blue without using any battle aura~".
Cassy gritted her teeth, but didn't say anything, because as insulting as those words sounded, they were true, not the part of Sarah beating her black and blue, the part about her new techniques being incomplete, as her wood mana needed to devour a large amount of strongly negative energy for her to enter that state.
Which is why, it took her more time than what she would have wanted to deal with her opponent, it had a positive side though, since she'll be able to face enemies that were stronger than her in the long run.
Ultimately Cassy sighed as she said with a defeated voice.
"Forget it, it would be a waste of time to argue with you", which earned her a smile from the crazy girl.
Leaving that little episode aside, there was another pair of people arguing at the resting area, namely Calvin and Michael.
Why you ask, it's simple, Michael told Calvin that someone had stolen the limelight from Loren, since Cassy revealed to have obtained light affinity, which naturally made Calvin answer with "Screw you, she'll still be more amazing than Haylee", and that started a heated discussion between who had the better girlfriend.
Amusingly enough, Haylee took no offense to the previous, in part because thanks to Calvin's provocation, Michael openly complimented everything about her, her beauty, her talent, her pretty clothes, heck he even called her handwriting "superb".
It's not like Michael is a disinterested boyfriend, he does treat Haylee with respect and care, but he is not adept to public demonstrations of affection, hence why Haylee enjoyed these rare outbursts of "love" she got from Michael in front of others.
Also, she clicked perfectly with Loren ever since they met and contrary to their boyfriends, they were in really good terms, in fact they were basically best friends at this point, after experiencing being captured by the women from the Black Night race, so those two arguing over who was better at what, didn't cause them any discomfort, they even found it funny.
'Show them Loren!', she thought as she silently rooted for her friend.
