Reincarnated With The Van Helsing System-Chapter 622: Challenges Daimon & Nethereal sisters, Jazmine’s version (part 11)
Naturally it's not like the fire crane girl had any ill intent towards Liliana, not in the slightest, what made her feel bittersweet is the fact that both of her sisters got better results out of their latest adventure, in other words the challenged they faced.
Ivy derived more new spells and techniques than her sisters, she even adapted Phoenix Dance making her fighting style the most complete among the three of them, her development perfectly went along with the role she takes as she is able to respond to any situation that might present.
Liliana had a straightforward and quite effective development, she became overwhelmingly stronger, but that doesn't mean she was simple, since unlike her sisters she could both keep her wings out and use the "mixed mana" state in which they extended and boosted her strength at the same time, which is what she did during the first half of the fight.
Amusingly enough that was her base state, she basically kept Daimon's mana concentrated in her wings while only circulating a part of it, while using mostly her own to power her spells, only when she released both hers and Daimon's mana and made it circulate as a whole through her body, attaining the strongest state she could handle as of current.
Sure, the mana of Daimon which was originally defending her body, became a source of offensive power instead, but there was no problem, because Liliana who lost let's say half of the defensive power she had, gained more than three times the offensive power she previously had, like the old saying goes, the best defense can be a stronger offensive.
In comparison, Leslie only derived one new technique, besides the improvement she had in her fire element to burn physical obstructions, it wasn't a bad amount of development but it indeed seemed "lacking" when compared to those two.
"I should have left the tittle of "Wingfall" to Lili instead…", mumbled the orange haired fire crane girl, which made Ivy inwardly sigh.
The last two spells used by Liliana were insanely strong, Divine Ascent represented the peak in terms of elemental damage that the snow eagle girl could achieve as of current, while Demonic Descent was its counterpart focusing solely in physical damage and its strength could be seen in the huge crater created by it impacting the ground, after having torn the frozen enemy into shreds a second previous to it.
Said technique was originally going to be called "Demonic Wingfall", Liliana finished her challenge before Leslie and she had already told the name of her new spells to Ivy who was the first to finish her challenge, but then Leslie came out and great minds think alike, she was happy to announce her "Phoenix Wingfall" spell to her sisters.
And without even letting know of the previous, the snow eagle girl silently changed the name of her spell while she congratulated her younger sister for her achievement, only later she came to know of this, a spell's name holds a big meaning for the one who created it, since the way it will develop is affected by it.
And what bothered Leslie the most, is that her spell wasn't even complete at her current level, hence why she didn't add the elemental "word" to it, unlike Ivy who used "Nightmare" or Liliana who used "Ice" before the phoenix part, and then the variation in case there was one, like the number of rapiers produced by Liliana or the aspect which Ivy focused in corroding be it mana, battle aura or the mind, making Leslie's spell simply "Phoenix Wingfall" instead of "Fire Phoenix Wingfall".
"We both know that isn't your fault and Lili herself confirmed that the new name brought her a better result, since it uses the mana of a certain someone who is labelled as a "demon" by others, to the extreme", said Ivonne as she comforted Leslie.
She wasn't just being sensible, the royals from the Fire Crane race like Leslie and her mother, previous to her, have it harder when it came to "developing", hence why Veronica created that pill to change their physique, it wasn't merely for the sake of aesthetics, but to overcome that natural problem within their lineage.
At the battlefield, Liliana who could feel the slightly depressed state of the fire crane girl, contemplated things for a second before saying in a voice that only Daimon could hear.
"Reward for Leslie… this time", though Liliana wasn't the oldest out of the three sisters, she has always been the strongest and thus she proudly took the role to be at the vanguard, standing in front of Ivy and Leslie, silently but fiercely protecting them with her sword.
She was willing to give her reward to Leslie if that helped her in any way, of course that didn't mean she lacked when it came to her own desires as the second part of her sentence suggested.
Being looked at by those expecting bright blue eyes of Liliana, Daimon ultimately couldn't resist.
"Don't look at me like that, fine, rewards for you two, now return and give this to that conflicted little crane", he said as he patted Liliana's head a couple of times.
Having achieved the best possible outcome, a slight smile flourished on Liliana's pretty emotionless face.
"Mm~", she happily said and as if the rules were waiting for this to happen, the announcement of her victory came a second later.
[A knight has been removed from the game, congratulations to the White Queen]
And with that, Liliana's happy figure was transported out of the battlefield, leaving behind a Daimon who chuckled at what just happened.
'Wasn't Ivy supposed to be the cunning one', he amusingly thought as he returned to Jasmine's side.
Liliana on the other hand appeared next to her sisters, her emotionless expression was back, but that didn't diminish the impact that her next words had.
"From Daimon", she limited to say as she patted the fire crane girl's head, which made Leslie's eyes to glow for a second, her expression brightened returning her to her usual energetic and bubbly self.
'That's right, even if I were to dive into a sea of flames, I'm sure he'll bring me out even if he has to drag me all the way from the bottom, I won't fall behind let alone Jasmine but Ivy and Lili either', thought the orange haired girl as she steeled her resolution, no one noticed since Leslie straightened her stance now that she had gained new motivation, but she actually grew a whole centimeter of height in less than a second, right now.
…
A moment ago, while Daimon was with Liliana, high into the sky, the enemy queen whose eyes were bloodshot as she cursed the masked silver haired youth for "causing" the death of her brother, was interrupted by Jasmine saying.
"It sure is easy to blame others for one's errors, like following the wrong person for example".
"What did you say, how dare you insult the Lord, he gave us the power to come out victorious of any fight, and provided us with anything we wanted to become strong or needed to survive, you wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for his grace, you ungrateful bitch!", roared Erika, to which Jasmine softly snorted.
"Everything you needed… then why I didn't see him on the battlefield earlier when those guys were dying, if the ones in trouble would have been us, our "king" would have been the first one to step in, not to win our battles for us but to guide us to overcome whatever is blocking our way, that's what differences an impostor from a true leader, that's the difference between being mere pawns and trusted companions and that's why even the strongest one you sent was no match for her", said the princess of the Light Palace.
She who with shame accepted the fact that she used to have "princess complex" as in she was being protected from the shadows, being privileged without she knowing about it, had taken a huge step in terms of mentality.
If it was the Jasmine from back then, she would have been charmed by a "hero" who came at the right time to save her and be there all the time to protect her, but the current Jasmine knew that such a thing isn't let alone heroic but even healthy.
'Mm, just like a real hero is not the one who saves you all the time but one who saves you once and then teaches you how to protect yourself, a real leader doesn't simply hand you what you want but guides you to what you need, one way or another', concluded the youngest of the nethereal sisters.
The twisted expression on Erika's face, worsened as the thought "Why did the Lord not intervene to save Ethan" took form in her mind for a second, before she saw the masked silver haired youth return and her animosity was instantly and unnaturally directed to him once again.
'No, it was that masked bastard the one who caused this, I'll make him pay for this, by ripping apart that ungrateful girl in front of him!', she inwardly swore to herself.
Ignoring or more accurately not caring about the thoughts of the enemy queen, Daimon floated to the position where he was before he left to Liliana's battlefield earlier, in fact he reduced the distance between himself and Jasmine a bit on his own, which made the light princess cutely giggle before she focused on the next battlefield, since it was an important one for her.
The probability that a stronger opponent than Ethan appeared was completely null, he was the vice-captain of the special operation unit within the Balax army and the captain was the head guard of the Balax Lord's palace, so Jasmine wasn't paying special attention to the next battlefield due to anything related to the enemy's side.
But because the one participating from her side, Jasmine's childhood friend and the one that fulfilled the role of a sister in the "light" while Sarah did so in the shadows, the young miss from the Bamboo Forest sect, Cassy.
The light green haired childhood friend of Jasmine, smiled after listening to the announcement of victory.
'Jas should be smiling from ear to ear right now, I guess I'll have to put on a good show since I can't be losing to Chris', she amusedly thought.
Her opponent on the other hand, a girl which also had green hair but with a much darker tone, who appeared to be in her twenties, gritted her teeth instead.
'Did that Ethan bastard actually died and at the hands of an enemy that hadn't even reached the middle part of the Mortal realm, damn it', swore the dark green haired girl in her heart.
Though at this point it was clear that their opponent's strength wasn't dictated by their realms in the slightest, what if in her case she had to deal with someone that was stronger than the one who killed her vice-captain, wouldn't she be screwed.
That's right, she is also a member of the special unit from the Balax army, however she is the last in rank, when it comes to head on battle, since that wasn't her field of expertise.
Originally, she thought that she could simply overwhelm her opponent, as Cassy is an early-stage Mage Lord, while she is a middle stage one, but after seeing how her teammates died one after the other, she decided to change her strategy.
The moment the barrier that prevented the participants from clashing, faded, Cassy directly took out her magic weapon, an edgeless green jade sword and flashed towards the enemy.
But once she had reached a certain distance from the dark green haired woman, a sour smell assaulted Cassy's nose, as a wave of green liquid blocked her way, naturally Cassy didn't let such a thing stop her, her green jade sword glowed as she injected mana into it to then slash the green liquid away.
Unlike Cassy whose light green hair came from the fact that she has wood affinity, the enemy's dark green hair was due to her poison affinity, as the obviously poisonous green liquid that was coming at Cassy, suggested.
"Hssss!", it wasn't hard for Cassy to divide the wave of poison, which then scattered at the ground in the vicinity making it release toxic green fumes, but none of that mattered for Cassy.
"I seem to remember you having a disdainful gaze when you looked at me earlier, so I expected you to fiercely charge at me, but now you seem rather "shy", I wonder what caused such a change", jokingly said the light green haired girl to her enemy who had taken the chance to put a lot of distance between them.
Unlike her parents, the young miss of the Bamboo Forest sect, doesn't perfectly fit the image one might have of a wood affinity mage, which is a gentle and relaxed person with a calm aura around it.
Cassy is indeed gentle and composed like a refined and proper young lady… most of the time, because when she is dealing with those that have shown even the slightest hostility towards Jasmine, she has shown to have quite a fierce side.
It's to the point that she has clashed with Sarah, back when it wasn't known that the crazy girl cared for Jasmine, since it seemed as if she was spying on her to help Purplehaze obtain the permission to date Jasmine.
And now, that same Cassy who stood her ground in front of the crazy girl, though the latter obviously never fought her seriously at all, was looking at the poison user nethereal with unadulterated disdain.
However, apparently safety weighted more in the mind of the enemy than pride, for a change, since the dark green haired woman simply shrugged in response as she said.
"Mock me all you want, I won't buy the "weak" front you guys have put, unlike those muscleheads my fighting style doesn't require brutal force".
Cassy softly snorted as light green mana covered her body.
"Forest Stride", with a couple of words, Cassy used the movement spell exclusive to her family, transforming in a light green flash that travelled half of the distance between herself and the enemy in a fraction of a second.
The dark green haired woman was surprised by the explosive increase in Cassy's speed, immediately reacted by using her own movement spell.
"Traceless Step", unlike Cassy whose body was glowing in light green mana as she charged at the enemy, the dark green haired woman left no visible trace nor produce any sound, but that wasn't enough to trick Cassy who slashed her sword at her left.
"Hsssss!", a colorless and odorless liquid was deflected by the green jade sword, causing loud sizzling sounds to be produced, as it gnawed away at the mana covering Cassy's sword.

Her surprise attack didn't work, but her speed did surpass that of Cassy's as the increasing distance between them, suggested.
'Tsk, I guess trying to use traceless poison on a wood affinity user is too much of a hassle, oh well, in any case making it colorless and odorless reduces its strength', thought the dark green haired woman as she exploded in dark green nether.
"Legion Reinforcement, Assassin Camouflaged Suit!", the dark green nether condensed into clothes of the same color that covered the whole body, leaving only the eyes of the enemy to be visible, she looked like a ninja from the eastern folklore.
"Poison Rain", a dark green cloud suddenly manifested above Cassy to then pour down poison drops on the light green haired girl.
That being said, Cassy perfectly dodged the previous, as a member of the royal lineage from the Bamboo Forest sect, her body is innately sensible towards things that are on the negative side of the spectrum, like darkness, poison and the like.
Amusingly enough she nearly fainted when she tried to inspect Daimon's Demon Light some time ago, since she couldn't decide whether it was on the negative or positive side.
Anyway, the previous is the reason as to why the surprise attack of the traceless poison released by the enemy's movement spell, didn't work, she didn't have to see nor notice it to avoid it, her instincts warned her about it and she just acted according to it.
However, the nethereal poison user had another thing in common with ninjas from the folklore, besides her outfit and that is the fact that... she used hidden weapons, flying knives to be more accurate.
Cassy who had dodged the poison rain, suddenly slashed her sword at her right, intercepting three flying knives that produced sparks upon contact with her green jade sword.
The light green haired girl frowned, her instincts didn't especially warn her of those knives, which meant that they weren't poisoned, needless to say but that was quite the strange choice for a poison user.
Though at this point it was clear that the enemy's major priority was to keep the distance between them, considering she hasn't stopped moving and took advantage of the fact that Cassy had to stop her chase to deflect her flying knives, to further accelerate, forcing Cassy to do the same.
With light green mana gathering around her legs, as she used the long-distance blinking ability of a rook piece to catch up with the poison user nethereal woman.
"You can more or less keep up with my speed, but how about the offensive… Battleground Poison Tsunami!", with a large amount of nether, exploding out of her body, the enemy created a thirty-meter-tall wave of poison that surged in all directions at Cassy.
"Demon Subduing Wood Sword, Sky Pillar", faced with poison from every direction, Cassy's green jade sword exploded in mana as she raised it upwards to shoot all the mana gathered in it.
"Boooom!", the result was a bright green wood pillar that descended from the sky, clashing against the poison tsunami, causing a loud explosion of energies and a bunch of debris flying in every direction due to the impact.
"Clang!", Cassy had no time to rest as a barrage of flying knives reached her the next second, she dodged half of them and deflected the other half with her green jade sword to then continue her pursuit.
The enemy saw the broken pieces of the giant wood pillar from earlier that were scattered around the ground as well as the remains of the poison tsunami, her battleground level spell was actually blocked.
'As expected, she has some damn strong spells in her repertory, however the usage of mana is on the same level, let's see how long you can keep using such large moves', she thought.
She was happy to have changed her strategy from head on clash to an outlasting pursuit one, which went along with the fact that she is a speed focused mage, though normally she uses said speed and poison for assassination, thanks to the increase in energy reserves that being a bishop piece gave her, she could pull wide area spells one after another without a worry.
Cassy on the other hand, only gained the extra defense of a rook that didn't go along with her fighting style, but the long-distance blinking ability did help, the problem is that it required mana to be used, so this indeed had turned into a battle of attrition.
