Reincarnated Into a Shounen Anime-Chapter 36: Course Selection
"Well then, before I start, select the course you want to partake in. You can find all the courses in your Student Identification UI. Select carefully. You have 10 minutes. So you have plenty of time. You don’t want to choose a course on a whim and go about with it. It may ruin your foundation. And trust me when I say this, you don’t want to go through the hassle of changing courses after selection. Your time starts Now."
Rayna said. The students nodded then slowly started going through the names displayed on their Student ID UI.
Before long, a few started to whisper among themselves and it slowly spread throughout the class as they discussed and shared their knowledge and feedback based on what they knew.
Alex and the girls were going through their UI as well. The transparent blue window displayed many words.

’Oh shit. We’re cooked.’
Alex freaked out seeing another list appear. He didn’t show any reaction outside. But his heart definitely skipped a bit. Alex scrolled down even more and there were courses for all the things that were considered a Sword.
Alex noticed that a few names repeated in the list, probably indicating they have mastery of multiple swords.
Alex looked around and saw that everyone was discussing and choosing what courses to take.
Even the girls were not talking and choosing carefully. Alex felt very suffocated. There were many things he wanted to do. But his lack of Bloodline and inability to sense energy limited him to the utmost.
So he had no choice but to take Basic Hand-To-Hand Combat and Basic Sword Training Courses, which didn’t require any energy to be involved.
Alex hit the submit button and sighed.
’What a shitty feeling. I should look for ways to sense Natural Energy. Having so many cool things to do and not being able to do any is a torture!’
There was still plenty of time. So Alex sat back and waited for everyone to be done.
~A Few Moments Later~
Everyone seemed to be done with their course choosing. Because they were chatting, relaxed.
"Alright class. Go back to your seats. Time’s up."
Rayna said and the students quickly made their way to their seats. Alex and the girls never left their seats.
They just chatted among themselves. Through that, Alex knew that none of them picked the courses he did. He was quite astonished to find how many courses everyone picked. 5 average. While he only picked 2...
"Now then, since today is your first day, we will just talk about some abstract things that will help you in your upcoming training. Giving you a better understanding of why the things are happening to you."
Rayna panned her gaze through the classroom.
"Alright. Can anyone tell me what’s the difference between Will and Mental Power?"
She threw a question at the students. Which got some uneasy reactions from the students. Everyone contemplated the question. But no one raised a hand. They all had a vague idea of what that is but the idea of Will and Mental Power was too abstract for them to articulate.
Rayna looked at all the promising students with great minds. They had potential but they still needed grooming and more experience.
Her gaze then fell in the middle rows. Where a tall and handsome boy sat with girls on each of his side.
Rayna didn’t have a favorable opinion of Alex. Although she didn’t like the Triplets as well, but that doesn’t mean she will look favorably upon someone that enjoys torturing people.
’Let me humble you a little.’
The main reason for asking such an abstract question was to teach Alex a lesson. Rayna always got the feeling that the boy had the air of someone with a superiority complex. Although he hides it extremely well, nothing can escape Rayna’s eyes because of her powerful Bloodline.
"Alexander Pluto, how about you share your knowledge with us?"
She called out to Alex. He raised his left eyebrow. Although others may not be able to tell, but he could definitely tell the hidden dislike underneath her nonchalant tone.
But he shrugged. Thinking she most probably didn’t like what he did to the triplets. He did not care enough to entertain her but the question was certainly intriguing.
He stood up from his seat. Everyone looking at him with curious eyes. Wondering what the top student of both Written and Combat Test has to say about this matter.
"Cough! Thank you. Although my knowledge is limited. I will try to provide my thoughts on Teacher Rayna’s question. Will and Mental Power sounds similar. May also seem the same at first glance arbitrarily. But, if we think philosophically, Will is the drive to move forward. Mental Power on the other hand is basically Cognitive Stamina. Like physical Stamina. So in that regard, we can certainly tell that Will and Mental Power are different."
Alex paused for a moment to think deeper. Everyone was listening intently at his words. Even Rayna seemed somewhat impressed, despite herself.
"For clear understanding, Will and Mental Power are complementary to each other. We can be tired even after plenty of sleep. That’s lack of Mental Power. But we can still move. That’s strong Will. We can feel energised but still feel like moving is a pain. And when these two align, we enter the state of focus... this is my interpretation of Will and Mental Power. I know its not perfect. But hope that satisfied your question."
Alex finished his answer. Everyone in the class was quietly contemplating his answer. He was looking at Rayna. Waiting for her to speak.
"That is certainly a deeply thought out answer. Good job. But Class. Alexander is right about one thing. It’s his interpretation. We all have different ways to comprehend abstract concepts. Use others’ understanding as reference. Then understand in your own way. The definition that feels the most natural to you. And this comes down to the reason I asked this question because from tomorrow onwards we’ll be training your Will and Mental Power."
Rayna calmly said. Everyone in the class didn’t think much of it. No matter what training they do, they have been through worse when trained by their clans...
