Oh No, Daddy Sent Me To The Beast World!-Chapter 40: You are staying in the simulation until you complete it.
One brother leaned in and said, "You really do look cute there though."
The other nodded. "Very cute. Like a small fluffy steamed bun that got dropped into the wrong century."
Lin Huahua should have been offended.
Instead, she looked pleased.
Lin Zhanshan saw this and felt a headache rise.
That was the problem with surrounding her with this many people who spoiled her. She only became more unbearable.
How could he even possibly bring her back when here brothers were even worse than him her father.
All they did was give her money and take her shopping. Never letting her even move a hair on her body.
And now they expected him to trust their words.
Lin Huahua, sensing support at last, immediately struck again.
"Fine," she said, turning noble and tragic in one breath. "I want to talk to Ma."
Her brothers brightened instantly.
"Yes, yes, let’s call Ma!"
"Mother can definitely convince Father."
"She misses you the most."
"Actually, Father misses you too, he just refuses to admit it."
Lin Zhanshan’s eyes turned icy.
The brothers pretended not to notice.
Lin Huahua’s eyes shone with hope so bright it practically lit up the cave. "Yes! Call Ma! Quickly!"
For a second, the brothers really looked tempted.
Then Lin Zhanshan spoke, and with one sentence shattered the whole thing.
"No one is calling your mother."
Lin Huahua’s face fell.
One brother tried weakly, "Father..."
Lin Zhanshan turned his head slightly. That was enough.
The brother shut up at once.
Lin Huahua looked from one face to another and realized, slowly and terribly, that this rescue operation was not going anywhere.
No matter how much her brothers missed her.
No matter how much they babbled.
No matter how many things they wanted to secretly send her.
The final decision still rested in her father’s hands.
And her father had clearly already made up his mind.
Lin Zhanshan looked at her and said in a calm, deep voice, "Huahua, listen carefully. You are staying in the simulation until you complete it. You need to learn basic skills, patience, observation, and how to rely on yourself. You have already done better than I expected today, which is exactly why I will not pull you out now."
Lin Huahua stared at him.
Her brothers also stared at him.
The cave felt quieter all of a sudden.
Even Lin Huahua’s tail drooped.
She really had not expected this.
At first, when she saw the hologram, she had thought she was saved.
She had thought her father had come to admit he could not bear to let his darling daughter suffer even one second longer.
She had thought she would be wrapped in warm towels and taken straight home.
Instead, the man had come here only to look at her, let her talk herself breathless, and then say no.
Cruel.
Absolutely cruel.
Lin Huahua’s lips trembled slightly.
"Pa..." she said one last time, sounding small now.
For the briefest second, Lin Zhanshan’s gaze softened.
He loved her.
Very much.
Enough that sending her here had hurt him too.
Enough that he had watched every moment since.
Enough that if she were truly in danger, he would pull her out without hesitation.
But because he loved her, he also knew he could not always let her stay soft in everyone’s arms forever.
So he hardened his face again and said, "Complete the simulation."
Then the hologram dimmed.
Her brothers’ voices burst out in a panic at once.
"Wait, Huahua, don’t worry!"
"We will think of something!"
"Eat properly!"
"Do not trust Father if he says he is not worried, he has checked the feed thirty..."
The hologram cut off.
Everything vanished.
Just like that.
The floating light disappeared from the air, leaving only the quiet cave, the stone walls, and Lin Huahua standing there with a face full of stunned heartbreak.
For a long moment, she did not move.
She only stared at the empty space where her father’s face had been.
Then she blinked.
Once.
Twice.
Her knees suddenly weakened.
"How could this happen..." she whispered.
She wobbled.
Actually wobbled.
Then reached out blindly and grabbed the nearest stone shelf for support before her precious little body truly collapsed to the ground from emotional damage.
Lin Huahua could not believe it.
She really could not believe it.
Her father had come.
Her brothers had come.
They had all talked to her.
They had all seen her.
And then, instead of rescuing her like reasonable family members, they had simply... left her here.
Left her!
In the Stone Age beast world!
With no shower!
With a rude system!
With primitive cooking methods!
With emotional foxes, silent lions, gentle deer, and a daily life that seemed determined to force her to develop character whether she liked it or not!
Lin Huahua’s mouth opened slowly in pure disbelief.
Then she looked up at the cave roof and felt the grief of the heavens pressing down on her tiny rat shoulders.
At that moment, if someone had entered and asked how she was, she might have answered by lying flat on the stone floor and saying that her soul had already left first.
...
The moment the hologram disappeared, Lin Huahua felt as if the whole sky had fallen directly onto her little rat head.
A huge thing.
A giant thing.
A mountain sized thing.
And it had not even fallen with grace. No. It had fallen with a loud invisible BAM right on top of her poor heart.
Just now, she had still been full of hope. Her father had appeared. Her brothers had appeared. She had already imagined herself going back to the sci-fi world, lying on her soft bed, eating nice food, bathing in a real bathroom, and complaining to her friends about the terrible primitive suffering she had bravely endured for one whole day.
But in the end?
Nothing.
They had all looked at her.
They had all listened to her.
They had all watched her pour out her pain like a river.
And then her father had simply cut the hologram and left her here.
