Chapter 61: Titans Fight

"Kaito...you look a little... tired."

"Tired? I can run for a whole... Haa... month."

I turned my head to look behind, and saw the rotten monster still following us.

Thanks to it, we didn’t have to worry about the other monsters.

It simply killed them! All of them! All that meat, all those skins, and all those armors got wasted!

How much time had passed since it began to chase after us?

Hours? Days? Weeks?

I didn’t know. I would be a lunatic if I focused on counting instead of running for my and Yamato’s lives.

Oh, there was also the Dwarf on my back. I had to pick him up while running because he was too slow compared to the monster.

"Gilber... will this take much time?" I asked Gilbert in urgency.

He was holding my neck with one hand while inscribing runes on a scroll with the other hand.

"Almost done. It’s hard when you are shaking too much!"

I frowned immediately. "Shall we switch then? I want you to... run stably while carrying me and Yamato...or maybe let Jaxon carry you!"

Jaxon gave Gilbert a scary wide smile in response, making him flinch and apologize to me.

I heard some rumours that he made Gilbert bleed and used him as bait. I didn’t believe that before, but seeing their interaction made me and Yamato start thinking otherwise.

"It’s done!" Gilbert shouted suddenly behind my ear. "This must slow it down or kill it at best."

As he said that, he turned around and pointed the scroll at the monster, then, he channeled his mana into the scroll.

The scroll gleamed brightly with a blue light. In the next moment, a bunch of crystal needles began to materialize in the thin air.

They were sharp and durable, with ethereal blue flames covering them.

He had to use my own blood to add the last effect, but I didn’t mind too much.

Once the needles materialized completely, they flew towards the monster with a high speed.

They pierced the monster’s rotten flesh and burned it from the inside.

The force behind all the needles sent it flying backwards, giving us some time to rest.

I finally stopped running and threw Gilbert off my back, then sat on the ground and began to drink a bottle of water.

"It isn’t dead, is it?" Gilbert looked at Jaxon with hope, but Jaxon shook his head.

"Unfortunately, my ring didn’t gleam. It’s alive."

I didn’t feel disappointed or anything. After so many attempts, I’d expected this.

That thing simply had an insane vitality and regeneration speed despite being rotten. Unless we killed it with one hit, it was basically immortal.

We can also target the soul, but my little student wasn’t here unfortunately.

After drinking the water, I threw the empty bottle away and took out a big piece of meat from my ring.

"I hate to do it... but I have no other choice."

I began to burn it immediately with my flames instead of cooking it slowly.

With a stern expression, I ate the meat in an instant. Then summoned a strange purple fruit and ate it to change the flavour.

The last thing I did was drink a healing potion before standing up.

"I’m done. Let’s run." I said as I pulled Gilbert from his collar and put him in my back.

"G҈̿̽R҉̾͌A҈̀̓A҉̈́̽A҉̿͌H҈́͝"

Suddenly, I heard the scream of the monster echoing through the corridor.

With a strong lung, I continued running with my full speed.

Jaxon soon followed, and Gilbert began to make another scroll.

Some moments later, I saw 3 branches in the passage.

"Let’s go to the path on the right again. The right path is always right!"

Listening to Jaxon, I rushed to the right path again, hoping that our luck wouldn’t end now.

The monster got closer and closer with each passing second, until its eyes’ light began to reach us again.

Suddenly, I saw a wall at the end on the way.

’Is this the wrong path? I think I will have to sacrifice Jaxon at the end to run out of this. What a shame.’

But then I narrowed my eyes and noticed the turn to the right.

It was my first time seeing a path that wasn’t straight, but I didn’t know if that’s a good or bad thing. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

"Watch out if you don’t want to hit the wall." I warned Jaxon calmly.

Ignoring Gilbert’s screams, I rolled on the ground to reduce my speed and stopped before hitting the wall, then, I dashed to the right, continuing the path.

But just then, my eyes widened at the scene in front of me.

A huge golden gate was blocking the way, with a golden golem protecting it holding a huge shield.

The golem noticed us almost instantly and charged towards us.

Instead of panicking, my eyes lit up as I got an idea.

I turned my head to Jaxon who was staring at the golem with despair and smirked. "Jaxon, titans fight."

Jaxon looked at with daze, but as if realization hit him, his lips suddenly curled a wide smirk.

"Kekeke... yeah, let it fight something the same size as it."

Gilbert glanced at me, then at Jaxon, then at me again. "Wait, what are you planning to do?"

*BAM!*

The rotten monster suddenly hit the wall in our back, and after shaking its head, it began to run toward us again.

"Perfect timing!"

Laughing loudly, I charged towards the golden golem.

The golem raised its shield to the sky and slammed it down, but with a burst of flames, I dodged it and slid between its legs, ending up on the other side.

Jaxon took the opportunity to pass beside it and followed me to the gate.

*BOOM!*

The rotten monster crashed into the golem’s shield, but the golem didn’t even flinch from the impact.

It used the grip of the shield to hold it with one hand and used it to punch the monster.

The monster head turned into a dough from the impact, but it regenerated itself immediately and wrapped its countless arms around the golem while screaming angrily.

"Damn. The fight is getting better." Jaxon chuckled as he handed me a bag of potato chips.

"Tsk, what a waste of a gift. You should have asked for a pair of black shoes instead, they would have suited your skin color."

I took the chips from him and started eating while watching the monsters fighting each other.

It didn’t need a genius to know that the gate was special, and it may even lead to the exit.

Unfortunately, it was closed. But there was a high chance that the golem’s heart was the key, so I decided to wait.

Whoever was the winner between them would end up in a miserable state, which was a good chance for us to strike.

So for now, I simply had to rest with Yamato, and help the one in the worst state if we could.
