Reincarnated in the Alternate World, I'm A Demonic Lord as Well as a Villager-Chapter 691 - 348: Demon Lord vs. Hero—Clash of Destiny (Part 2)
Within the Esper Kingdom.
The vast adventure group of three thousand people moved slowly towards the Demon Realm, resembling an army, leaving behind a trail of debris wherever they went.
The journey was unusually smooth, with hardly any obstruction by magical creatures; even within the Esper Kingdom, not a single goblin shadow was seen.
According to the latest news, the goblin army was attacking the borders of several other kingdoms, largely absent from the Esper Kingdom.
Although the royal families of several kingdoms requested aid from this adventure team, Jack refused them all without exception.
His goal this time was singular—to capture that black-haired demon king boy and make him his lucky prisoner.
Once the demon king was captured, the goblin threat would naturally dissipate. Therefore, he had no intention of dispersing his forces.
"Captain Jack, we are one hundred kilometers away from the Demon Realm. At a normal pace, we can reach the Demon Realm within half a day."
The teammate in charge of intelligence detection reported.
Jack came to the small hill on the plain, gazing forward, and could vaguely see the Demon Realm.
Through his eyes, he perceived the energy shield enveloping the sky above the Demon Realm. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Between the plain where he stood and the Demon Realm lay a stretch of lush forest.
Jack squinted slightly; down below, a thousand adventurers simultaneously looked up at him, and everyone’s morale was quietly rising.
"Set up the battle formations! March towards the Demon Realm, prepared for any surprise attacks by the demon forces!"
"Yes!"
Over five hundred adventure groups were divided into three sections heading towards the forest; one hundred groups on the left, one hundred groups on the right, each led by Platinum Level adventurers.
The remaining three hundred adventure groups advanced from the center, led by Jack’s Outerworld adventurer group.
Demon Realm’s edge.
"They’ve entered. They’ve gone into the forest."
The Chameleon Maiden in charge of reconnaissance reported.
Almost all high-ranking members of the demon forces were present; Shami held his breath, gazing intensely at the front, almost seeing the powerful adventurers pushing through the dense forest.
The Elf Maiden looked up at the sky, noticing countless dark clouds moving from within the Esper Kingdom towards the Demon Realm, as if signaling the end of the world, about to swallow the sunshine here.
"Is there some mistake? We’re the villains, right? Why would this villainous weather appear on their side?"
The Elf Maiden remarked to Shami.
"Now’s not the time for comparisons, Lureya."
Shami calmly soothed the Elf Maiden before issuing his orders.
"The energy shield over the Demon Realm is the last line of defense. We cannot let the war break out within the Demon Realm, as it would severely impact our logistics. Everyone, follow the planned arrangements and commence action!"
"Yes!"
The demon soldiers united in spirit, taking their respective orders as they dispersed into the forest.
Shami stood steadfastly on the spot.
He didn’t want the war to erupt on the Demon Realm’s soil, a fertile land he had painstakingly developed. If conflict occurred there, the resources and lives of magical creatures would be irretrievably lost.
Therefore, he must establish a battlefield outside the Demon Realm, to resolve the confrontation with Jack and the adventurers.
The forest linking the eastern border of the Esper Kingdom and the boundaries of the Demon Realm was a perfect choice; naturally, the farther the battleground was from the Demon Realm, the better.
"Shami, should we start moving as well?"
Beside him, the white-haired maiden donned in her Swordsman Armor approached, concernedly looking at Shami.
After the others dispersed, only three Demon Envoys and his trusted followers—a horde of fearless skeleton soldiers—remained by Shami’s side.
The remaining magical creatures, such as the Pure Love Sect expedition led by the pink bull, the Ghost Race and Fishman Race, were assigned to handle the adventurer groups on the flanks.
Typically, with Platinum Level adventurer groups present, a Demon Officer should be involved; mere magical creatures and tribal leaders struggled against over a hundred adventurer groups.
But Shami issued orders to the flank magical creatures: hold the line.
The aim was to delay the flank adventurer groups as much as possible without necessarily annihilating them, merely stalling them sufficiently.
Shami’s objective was clear.
Since Jack came specifically for him this time, he would head directly for Jack as well. Both were central figures of their respective sides; if either he or Jack fell, the battle’s outcome would be decided.
Thus, this was a clash aimed directly at each side’s most crucial figure.
"Everyone, I don’t want to be locked in a dark room by Jack for strange happenings; we must protect the purity of the demon king."
Shami implored the three Demon Envoys beside him.
"If I fail, not only might I die, but I could also face being assaulted by Lape. You wouldn’t want your demon king to suffer under the Outerworld Hero, right?"
The three Demon Envoys looked solemn.
"Falling victim to Lape, Shami’s fate will await us only after we’re dead."
After a brief silence, the Elf Maiden responded seriously to Shami; Lina and Elze nodded earnestly.
Shami felt warmth in his heart.
"It doesn’t actually need to reach the point of dying... everyone should live well..."
With the demon king’s final gentle words, everyone headed into the forest.
Front of the forest.
The adventurer group advanced. Jack walked slowly amidst the large group, surrounded by over a thousand adventurers at the center.
He’s no fool; of course, he wouldn’t be at the forefront where demon artillery might hit at any moment. The middle of the group was the safest place.
