Chapter 48: BOom!

A few minutes before...

Hina looked up at the ceiling after noticing a long rope dropping right in front of her.

She could still hear Ava’s voice as she was speaking to the villagers.

’Is someone trying to get in?’ she thought to herself.

But the warehouse was kept very confidential; only the knights and the people close to him knew where it was.

So could that mean a knight was trying to get in?

Different thoughts crossed Hina’s mind.

That was until she noticed something.

The hole in the ceiling, where the rope had dropped from, suddenly had shadows around it.

And then it was followed by a small blink.

An arrow?

Hina’s eyes widened when she noticed it.

It was too late.

The arrow went speeding towards her, piercing her skin and causing her to drop to the ground screaming.

Blood was already dripping on the ground.

"My armmmm!" She called out to Ava, who didn’t waste any time turning around.

There, she could see individuals dressed in black ninja-style wear begin to drop from the rope.

They were outnumbered.

’What the hell is happening...?’ Ava gritted her teeth for a while, watching as Hina was crawling to a corner.

"Haven’t you realized it yet? You are completely outnumbered..." the man spoke, raising his knife a bit. "Put down your sword...and surrender."

Ava sighed.

"It took me a while, but I finally figured it out after these people in black came in," she began, standing in such a way she could see the people on all sides.

"Your mana... I’ve never sensed it in this barony before...which means you people are not from here... Correct?"

Just as those words left Ava’s mouth, Hina frowned a bit, before suddenly looking to the people in black, her eyes as if begging for something.

Suddenly, one of them chuckled.

"The diamond knight, Ava Isenberg. Seems your reputation is right after all. Yes, we are not from around here. That doesn’t mean we will disclose our identity. All we ask for are the goods in this warehouse, nothing else."

"Another question. My lord had told me to station soldiers around the place to stop intruders from stepping in. If you’re here..."

"...Yes, we slaughtered them all. Our sincerest apologies. Losing five soldiers must be such a pain; I’m sure you can get them back."

Ava’s voice suddenly went cold. "Hina, close your eyes if you can’t stomach what’s about to happen. I won’t be holding back."

Like she didn’t need to be told, Hina immediately covered her eyes while pushing herself further into the corner.

Silence took over for a while.

And then...

"Kill her." The cold voice echoed.

Like zombies, the village-looking intruders began to swarm into the warehouse, their weapons gripped in such a way that it would be easier for them to stab with.

And to her right, the men in black charged with mana surrounding their forms.

Faced with overwhelming numbers, the diamond rank knight gripped her blade with conviction, for she had no intention of losing.

_Slash!_

She slashed her blade to the side, sending a sharp wave of mana that completely sliced up the first row of enemies charging towards her.

Two more tried to stab her and were met with a sharp blow to the face that sent them flying and falling.

_Crank!_

Their blade connected with Ava’s, strength on strength as they tried to overpower her.

But she was not the same knight as she was a few years back.

No, this knight was far superior.

A sharp glint in her eye was all it took for her to chop off their hands and then their heads.

The leader of the group, the man dressed in complete black, remained standing on the cart as he observed the battle.

’So this is the strength of a diamond rank, truly frightening.’

He smiled underneath his mask, one covered with layers of nervousness.

Not many people have had the opportunity to battle with a diamond rank; all they knew was they were higher than a Gold and Platinum rank.

"Ahhh! I give up, I give—"

**Splush!**

Ava stabbed the man’s head with her blade, slicing him open from the head down to his waist.

Her body covered in blood and her eyes filled with total calmness. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Killing them as if she was simply taking out the trash.

Their tears rang in her ears. Some pleaded, some tried to run after realizing they had no chance of winning, yet, they all faced the same fate.

Slaughtered like animals by the Montclair knight, Ava Isenberg.

After a couple of minutes had passed, the once lively warehouse was now silent, with only the sound of Ava’s rasped breathing and the blood dripping from the tip of her blade.

Opening her eyes a bit, Hina could barely believe her eyes.

Somehow, Ava had managed to kill every single one of them, their body parts scattered across the ground.

Was she really that strong? Is she heartless enough to murder so many people and still remain calm?

Hina could only keep quiet, her hand covering her mouth as she noticed Ava was moving closer to the leader.

"I beg you not to waste my time. I will not be killing you but instead take you to my master. He will decide what judgment you’d face," Ava spoke as she walked.

"Your master? Oh, you mean the joke of the barony, Alaric Montclair. Such a talented boy, hard to believe he got such a shitty reputation. Which reminds me, isn’t it true he plans to use the resources here to pay a debt?"

Ava suddenly paused.

"Where did you hear that from?" she blurted out.

"Haha, so I was right then? Oh wow, I wonder how he is going to react when he comes back to see his little treasures have been destroyed," the masked man spoke, as if enjoying the moment.

"You say this like I’d let you do that..."

"And who said I needed your permission..." The masked man pointed at the ground and spoke...

"I won’t be dying here today, but I sure as hell will be taking everything here with me. Bye-bye, diamond-ranked girl."

Before Ava could take a step forward...

**Boom!**
