Reborn to Outshine My Ex and His White Moonlight-Chapter 357: You Really Have No Heart
Chapter 357: Chapter 357: You Really Have No Heart
Lin Zhiyi suddenly turned indifferent, bypassing his body and heading straight for the main door.
As she pushed the door, Gong Chen stretched out his hand and forcefully closed it.
Suddenly, the man’s warm breath breathed over the back of her neck.
Before she could react, the man reached out and lifted her hand.
She struggled a few times but, failing to overpower his strength, she simply clenched her fists tightly.
The person behind her clearly sighed and placed medicine on top of her clenched fist.
"I asked Li Huan, this stomach medicine is quite mild."
Lin Zhiyi looked down at the medicine, breathed in lightly, her voice trembled amidst the heavy anger: "Why do you have to do this?"
She turned around forcibly, trying to push the person in front, but she couldn’t move him at all, he stood before her like a wall.
"Why do you have to treat me like this?"
Lin Zhiyi hit him with her fists, and when she hit hard, she could hear the muffled sounds.
Gong Chen did not dodge or flinch, letting her vent.
Eventually, Lin Zhiyi leaned against his chest, her head buried very low, sorrow accumulating in the depths of her eyes.
She inhaled and exhaled, swallowed and restrained herself repeatedly, and finally managed to maintain a muted tone as she spoke.
"Why did you name their child Xingxing? Why do you repeatedly dig into others’ wounds? Do you really enjoy rubbing salt into my wounds?"
"How did you know about Xingxing?"
Gong Chen harshly steadied Lin Zhiyi’s body, his lips pressed tightly together, his gaze as if to devour her like an abyss.
Her body weakened and wobbled a few times.
Indeed.
It was he who told Sang Ran about the name Xingxing.
His Xingxing could be the child of any woman.
Lin Zhiyi’s face turned pale unrecognizably, tears she had been holding back fell uncontrollably, and her tightly pursed lips were already bleeding.
She stared at Gong Chen: "You... really are heartless. I don’t want to see you again."
After saying that, she threw the medicine, turned around, and rushed into the house, forcefully closing the door.
Gong Chen came back to his senses, looking at the crushed medicine box on the ground, he bent down to pick it up and placed it by the door.
Then, in a voice so low only he could hear, he spoke heavily.
"Zhiyi, remember to take your medicine."
Inside the door.
Lin Zhiyi heard his words, stunned for a few seconds, then entered the house without turning her head back.
...
Su He Bay.
As Gong Chen entered the door, Sang Ran suddenly appeared, blocking the doorway.
"You’ve lost weight recently. I made some soup at home and came to bring you some."
"Come in."
Gong Chen opened the door wider, then turned and went inside.
Sang Ran, pleased, carried the insulated bucket and followed him in.
"This soup needs to be drunk while it’s hot; I’ll serve it for you."
As she spoke, she confidently walked into the kitchen to pour the soup.
Moments later, Gong Chen stood at the kitchen doorway with a glass of wine, watching her.
"How did you know about Xingxing?"
"What Xingxing?" Sang Ran paused while pouring the soup.
"Why did you deliberately bring it up in front of her?"
Gong Chen leaned lazily against the door sipping his wine, his eyes half-closed as he watched Sang Ran with a profound and inscrutable gaze, like a lurking beast within.
The soup spilled out, Sang Ran tightly gripped the insulated bucket, her head bowed.
"The name you cried out in your sleep on the plane, Xingxing, you also called her your daughter."
"Who else but me can bear you a child? Aren’t we husband and wife? Isn’t that our daughter’s name?"
Sang Ran boldly stared at Gong Chen.
"What do you think?" Gong Chen pinched his wine glass and did not look at her.
Under his indifference, Sang Ran still lost the battle.
"Sorry, I thought wrong, I’ll be careful." She casually picked up the bowl and smiled, "Let’s have the soup first."
"Xiao Ran, go back, get some rest early." Gong Chen said politely yet distantly.
The next second, the bowl in Sang Ran’s hand smashed to the ground.
She leaned on the table, gasping slightly, "Do you want everyone to know we are married but living separately?"
Gong Chen tilted his head to finish the remaining wine in his cup, coldly saying, "We agreed on this before our marriage."
Sang Ran’s face went pale, taking a deep breath, she maintained a calm facade, "I know you are busy, I’ll leave first then."
Without waiting for Gong Chen to speak, she avoided everything and left the house like she was running away.
Gong Chen put down his wine glass expressionlessly and went back to his room.
Just as he entered, his body seemed to lose control, collapsing onto the bed, cold sweat seeping through his shirt in layers.
He slowly opened his eyes, which were already full of bloodshot.
He trembled as he reached under the pillow to pull out a photograph, looking at it over and over until a sweet, metallic taste surged in his throat, his body also starting to tremor lightly.
"Zhiyi."
In an instant, his hands heavily fell, and his mind plunged into a blank void.
"Dad, wake up, please don’t sleep."
Hearing the voice, Gong Chen abruptly opened his eyes.
Everything reverted back to that villa garden, as if the fire had never happened.
Xingxing was sitting on the steps, waving at him.
"Dad, sit with me and watch the stars."
At this moment, Gong Chen seemed to regain control over his body, stood up, and sat next to her.
Not wanting to scare her, he sat a little away.
To his surprise, Xingxing moved closer to him, leaning slightly against him.
Her small hand touched the red mark on Gong Chen’s wrist, "Dad, does it hurt?"
Gong Chen pulled up his sleeve a bit, "No, it doesn’t hurt anymore."
Xingxing lowered her head and blew gently on his wrist, "When I used to be in pain, mom would do this too, but when she was in pain, she would always hide and cry alone."
Watching Xingxing, Gong Chen’s mind was flooded with thoughts, remembering how Lin Zhiyi looked today, tearfully aggrieved.
He couldn’t help but reach out and hold her, as if he was holding Lin Zhiyi.
"Sorry."
Xingxing, like a little adult, patted his stiff back, "It’s okay, it’s all right."
Gong Chen was reluctant to let go of Xingxing, then sat with her watching the stars in the sky.
Xingxing looked up at the sky full of stars, softly asking, "Dad, do you know why I’m named Xingxing?"
Gong Chen shook his head.
Xingxing pointed at his eyes, "Because they resemble your eyes, mom said both our eyes have stars in them. She really loved us, so you can’t just... go to sleep. She doesn’t have me anymore, she can’t lose you too."
Gong Chen froze, staring into Xingxing’s eyes as though looking into a mirror.
His chest felt as if it was being struck hard, each breath became more burdensome, a dense pain entwining his body like venomous snakes.
He struggled to look at Xingxing.
Xingxing, however, raised her hand to touch his eyebrows and eyes, and for a moment, Gong Chen saw Lin Zhiyi.
Their figures gradually merged, smiling tenderly.
"Dad, wake up..."
"Gong Chen, wake up..."
In an instant, it seemed a force was pulling him somewhere.
But he couldn’t bear to leave Xingxing; he tightly grasped her tiny hand.
Xingxing stood still, calmly saying, "Dad, I have to go, I won’t appear again."
"Xingxing, don’t go! Xingxing, Xingxing..."
Gong Chen’s vision flashed white, and he abruptly opened his eyes.
Li Huan and Chen Jin breathed a sigh of relief.
Li Huan, with a grim face, felt like punching him, "Do you know you were in shock!"
