Reborn to Outshine My Ex and His White Moonlight-Chapter 358: Who Says You Can’t Give Birth?
Chapter 358: Chapter 358: Who Says You Can’t Give Birth?
Gong Chen took a moment to regain his composure before he looked around the ward.
"Where is Xingxing?"
"What Xingxing? I’m still looking for the moon!" Li Huan thought he was talking nonsense.
"My daughter," Gong Chen said.
Li Huan’s heart skipped a beat, and he turned to Chen Jin: "Damn, his brain’s broken."
Gong Chen rubbed his forehead and yanked the pillow from under his head, hurling it out.
Li Huan dodged, "Don’t move around, if Chen Jin hadn’t worried and gone looking for you, you’d be dead by now. And you start looking for a daughter the moment you wake up? Neither Chen Jin nor I have that ability."
"Just the little girl who was cutting your kidney in the dream," Gong Chen said with narrowed eyes.
"She’s your daughter? Then what was she taking my kidney for? Don’t you know there’s a debtor for every debt?"
Li Huan was just joking when he suddenly sensed something was off and stared at Gong Chen with widened eyes.
He leaned in and said, "Hold on, it’s weird enough that we both dreamt of the same unknown girl, and you even know her name and identity, what’s going on here?"
"I don’t know."
There are many things in this world that cannot be explained by science.
Gong Chen took a breather, then continued to ask, "How’s my condition now?"
Back to the matter at hand, Li Huan pulled out a report.
"Your dream was quite something, look at this blood test..."
Gong Chen glanced at it, the gloom between his brows lifted slightly.
However, Chen Jin still did not relax, he said with concern, "Ye Feifei hasn’t been found yet."
"Let’s not publicize this for the time being," Gong Chen instructed.
"Okay."
As they spoke, Li Huan’s phone rang.
He glanced at the screen and then, somewhat embarrassed, put it down.
But his subtle movement didn’t escape Gong Chen’s eyes.
"What is it?"
"Uh... the engagement invitation of Lin Zhiyi and Mr. Sang," Li Huan said with trepidation.
The man’s gaze deepened, a misty haze obfuscating his eyes, still as the muddy waters of a stagnant pond.
"Hmm."
...
Lin Zhiyi told Sang Li about her acceptance by a school abroad.
Sang Li was not only happy for her, but even encouraged her to follow the path she wanted to take.
Finally, she could let go of the anxiety that had been weighing her down.
But having learned from past experiences, she hoped that Sang Li would keep her going abroad a secret.
Sang Li even teased her, "You’re making it sound like a spy movie."
"I call it being cautious. I’ll treat you to dinner tonight, let’s celebrate," she said.
"I’d love to see you, but the company probably won’t let me keep being love-struck. Shall I pick you up tomorrow?" Sang Li half-joked.
Lin Zhiyi didn’t insist, "Okay."
After ending the call, before she even put the phone down, Liu He called.
"Zhiyi, I’m downstairs at your building, I made an appointment to see a doctor at two in the afternoon."
"Okay."
Liu He didn’t mention it, and Lin Zhiyi had all but forgotten about the visit to the traditional Chinese medicine doctor.
After getting into the car, Liu He seemed very nervous the whole way, and Lin Zhiyi could only chat with her to distract her.
Finally, the driver stopped at the entrance of the alleyway.
"Second Madam, the road inside is too narrow, the car can’t get through."
"No problem, we can walk in," said Liu He.
Lin Zhiyi helped Liu He out of the car, looking at the somewhat disordered streets around them, feeling somewhat uneasy.
"Mom, is this doctor really good?"
"Their ancestors have been Chinese medicine doctors, everyone in their family is a doctor. It’s just that the old man is sentimental and refuses to move, so they moved the pharmacy into their home," Liu He explained as she pulled Lin Zhiyi along.
They stopped in front of the gate of a small courtyard. Unexpectedly, there was already a line of people waiting at the door, showing the doctor’s good reputation.
After standing for ten minutes, a young man came out to pour water for everyone.
"I’m the old man’s apprentice; the master is up now. Everyone, please have some tea and be patient," he said.
Lin Zhiyi and Liu He took the tea and nodded their thanks.
The man sized up the two of them.
"Is this your first time here?"
"Mhm." Liu He nodded.
"Then let’s get you registered first, to avoid wasting time filling out forms later."
As he spoke, the man had someone bring over a form for Liu He to fill out, while he continued serving tea.
Liu He happily took the form and meticulously filled out the information it asked for.
Lin Zhiyi glanced at the form and whispered, "Mom, isn’t this a bit too detailed? It even requires such detailed history of the illness you had when you gave birth to me. Aren’t Chinese medicine doctors supposed to diagnose through feeling the pulse?"
Liu He didn’t mind: "Maybe it’s because the old master is getting on in years? He’s ninety-six, having a reference probably makes it easier to avoid mistakes."
Indeed, there was some logic to that.
After a while, the young man came over to collect the form.
"Have you finished filling it out? I’ll take it in to the old master first."
"Okay."
Liu He handed over the form.
The man turned and went through the door.
Lin Zhiyi felt inexplicably irritated, took a sip of tea, and immediately spat it out.
"What an odd taste."
"Really?" Liu He took another sip, "I think it’s fine. If not, you can pour it out and get some plain water over there."
For some reason, Lin Zhiyi had become especially sensitive to smells lately, feeling uncomfortable at the slightest oddity.
Unable to drink it, she could only pour it away and get some boiled water instead.
The water dispenser was located right by the entrance, and by slightly turning her body, she could see inside.
Lin Zhiyi noticed the young man was secretly taking photos of Liu He’s form.
If it was just for recording, there was no need for him to be so sneaky.
Seeing this, Lin Zhiyi didn’t alert the man but casually returned to Liu He’s side.
She pretended to ask nonchalantly, "Besides Aunt Yang, who else knows about this place?"
"Aunt Jiang. She must have also heard about Aunt Yang’s second child, and wanted to inquire about it. She also asked where the Chinese medicine doctor is," Liu He replied without giving it much thought.
Liu He didn’t seem to take it seriously.
But Lin Zhiyi’s heart felt blocked with worry, and she cautioned, "Mom, Aunt Jiang definitely gave you the project proposal, right? Can I take a look at it?"
"Can you understand it?" Liu He asked.
"I’ll ask Mr. Sang to have a look. If it’s good, I could also invest some money with you, for some security later on."
Lin Zhiyi didn’t dare to say too much.
Liu He was prone to anxiety, which could easily give things away.
Fortunately, Liu He didn’t think more about it and playfully scolded, "You were previously saying I invest blindly, but it seems you’re tempted now. Fine, I’ll send you Aunt Jiang’s project proposal."
As Liu He was about to take out her phone, the young man returned.
Lin Zhiyi grabbed her hand abruptly, interrupting, "No rush, it looks like someone is coming."
She wasn’t sure if Aunt Jiang and this man were connected, so it was better to be cautious for now.
The man stopped in front of them and said, "It’s your turn now, please follow me."
Liu He, feeling nervous, gripped her hand, "Thank you."
Lin Zhiyi accompanied Liu He into the house, where they sat down at a small table next to a wall of medicine cabinets.
Sitting at the table was an elderly grandfather wearing reading glasses, looking very kind and benign.
He lowered his head to look at Lin Zhiyi and Liu He through his glasses.
"Who’s here for a consultation?"
"Me." Liu He sat down, a bit embarrassed.
"Come on, offer your hand."
The Chinese medicine doctor pointed to the pulse pillow in front of him.
Liu He took a deep breath and then placed her hand on it.
The Chinese medicine doctor squinted his eyes, frowning, "You’ve had injuries before, and there are worries in your heart, feelings of depression that aren’t flowing freely. Don’t overthink it."
Liu He was startled, as if someone had guessed her concerns, and she pursed her lips slightly.
The Chinese medicine doctor continued, "Relax, what’s meant to come will always come. I’ll prescribe you a formula." fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
Liu He, somewhat excited, asked, "Can I, can I still have children?"
The Chinese medicine doctor narrowed his eyes suspiciously, "Who exactly told you that you couldn’t have children?"
Both Liu He and Lin Zhiyi were shocked.
