Reborn in the Survival Adventure Game-Chapter 93: Conquer the Forgotten Forest
Chapter 93 - 93: Conquer the Forgotten Forest
Ding!
A crisp chime echoed through Caelen's ears the moment he stepped out of his house that morning. A glowing blue message appeared in front of him like a banner waving in the sky.
Main Quest Updated!
Objective: Conquer the Forgotten Forest
Requirements: Expand influence, establish order, tame the land
Reward: Unknown
Caelen blinked at the message, his breath caught.
"Conquer the forest...?"
The words hung heavy. Not survive it. Not live in it. Conquer it.
He rubbed his neck. "That's a tall order."
He stared out over the village—his village. More than a thousand people now. Kids laughing, blacksmiths hammering, steam rising from the bakery, the hum of golems in the distance.
They weren't just surviving anymore.
They were building something.
In the center of the village, the newly upgraded townhall buzzed with voices. Caelen stood at the front with Zira, Garin, Borin, Dorgrim, and several leaders from the newer residents. Villagers filled every seat. Even more stood outside, listening through the open windows.
"Alright," Caelen began, tapping the table lightly. "I've got something to say."
He cleared his throat.
"We've hit one thousand people. That's huge. But just now, I got a system message. The main quest's been updated." He paused. "It wants us to conquer the Forgotten Forest."
The crowd rippled with murmurs and surprised looks.
Zira blinked. "Conquer? Isn't that a bit... big?"
Caelen nodded. "Yeah. But it's not about war or destruction. I think it means to bring order. Expand. Make it ours."
Dorgrim leaned on the table, stroking his beard. "Then we need to prepare. This forest ain't just trees and rabbits."
Garin stood. "I agree. If we want to hold this place, we need structure. We've grown too fast. We need organization. Systems."
Someone in the crowd muttered, "Finally."
Borin chuckled. "Sounds like it's time we plan properly."
Caelen pointed toward him. "Exactly. Borin, I want your help expanding the village. Build new roads. Houses. A real training ground, too."
Borin crossed his arms, nodding. "Leave it to me. I'll redesign the entire layout. More space, more order. My crew's already got ideas."
Garin added, "We also need a proper chain of command. Not everyone listens when Zira or I talk. If we're serious about this, we need clear roles. Maybe even captains for work groups."
Zira glanced around the room. "We've got farmers, builders, fighters, crafters. I say we name leaders for each. Let them manage and report in."
Caelen nodded. "Good. I'll appoint leaders tomorrow. For now, let's focus on expansion. Borin, start with building a proper training area on the eastern side. We'll use that land near the golem station."
Borin scratched his chin. "We'll need logs, stone, and space. I'll organize a crew. Garin, I'll need your help with mapping where farms can shift so we don't interrupt the drills."
"Done," Garin said with a grin.
A younger elf stood in the back and raised a hand. "Sir, what about protecting the new areas? Monsters still sneak in sometimes."
Caelen glanced at Dorgrim.
The dwarf nodded. "I'll reinforce the borders. We can use some of that metal to build better fences. Maybe even watchtowers."
Murmurs of approval spread.
Caelen smiled faintly. "Good. That's exactly what I wanted to hear. Everyone, we're not just a village anymore. We're becoming a town. Maybe even a city someday. But to do that, we need to work together—like we've always done."
A few heads nodded. Someone clapped. Another followed. Then the whole room burst into applause.
Caelen held up a hand, his smile widening. "Alright! Meeting's over. Time to get to work."
As the crowd dispersed, Borin pulled out a thick notebook and flipped it open.
"I'll need five teams," he muttered. "One for the road, two for the training yard, one for drainage—ugh, still hate dealing with water—and one for temporary housing."
Caelen leaned over. "You've got all this figured out?"
Borin smirked. "I was a city planner once. Sort of. Before I ended up in this forest. Let me handle it, chief." freēwēbηovel.c૦m
Caelen patted him on the shoulder. "I trust you."
Zira stepped beside Caelen as they watched Borin bark orders and send goblins and dwarves racing across the plaza.
"So..." she said quietly, "Conquering the forest, huh?"
"Yeah," Caelen muttered. "Bit scary."
She nodded. "But you're not doing it alone."
He looked at her.
"I know," he said softly. "Thanks, Zira."
By sunset, the eastern side of the village buzzed with activity. New wooden markers were placed in rows for the training yard. Stones were hauled. Temporary shacks set up to store tools.
The goblin kids were already sparring with sticks nearby, laughing.
From his high perch on the watchtower, Caelen looked down over the scene.
He didn't know how they'd conquer the Forgotten Forest.
But they had just taken the first step.
And tomorrow, they'd take another.
