Reborn in the Survival Adventure Game-Chapter 44: Tools Upgrade
Chapter 44 - 44: Tools Upgrade
The night was quiet, lit only by the soft glow of the campfire. Caelen sat near it with the two old dwarves, Borin and Dorgrim. Zira and Garin sat nearby, listening.
"So," Caelen said, tossing a stick into the flames, "where did you two live before ending up in that cave?"
Dorgrim took a sip from his wooden flask and grunted. "Up in the mountains. Deep in the stone halls of Ironridge."
Borin chuckled, his beard twitching. "Used to be nice. Now? Eh. Too many rules. Too many younglings thinkin' they know better."
"They kicked you out?" Garin asked.
Borin waved a hand. "Bah. We left. Sort of. Maybe got a little expelled."
Dorgrim nodded. "Drinking on shift. Loud snoring. Borin blew up a furnace once."
"Only once," Borin said proudly.
Zira raised an eyebrow. "You don't seem too broken up about it."
Borin snorted. "We're too old to care. Besides, this forest's got good drinkin' water."
Caelen laughed. He liked them already.
He looked at Dorgrim. "I've got something to show you."
He opened his inventory and pulled out the glittering blue ore.
[Mythril ×40]
Dorgrim blinked. "Is that—?"
"Mythril," Caelen said. "I mined it."
Borin nearly choked on his drink. "You mined this?"
Caelen shrugged. "With a drill. Long story."
Dorgrim took a piece and turned it in his hand. "This is high-quality stuff. Pure."
"Can you make anything with it?" Caelen asked.
Dorgrim grinned. "Axe, sword, spear, dagger—whatever you want."
"Then I'm assigning your jobs," Caelen said. "Borin, you're our craftsman and engineer. Dorgrim, blacksmith."
Borin saluted with a hiccup. "Aye, chief."
Dorgrim held up the mythril. "We'll start in the morning." freёweɓnovel.com
Morning came bright and warm. The village buzzed with the sound of work.
Dorgrim stood at the forge Caelen had built earlier. He wore a thick apron, sleeves rolled. Sparks flew as he shaped the metal.

Borin sat on a nearby bench, drawing rough blueprints on bark using charcoal.
Caelen brought out more materials—iron, coal, and some wood.
Dorgrim worked fast for someone his age. By noon, he had crafted several weapons:
[Mythril Axe ×2 – Spear ×1 – Pickaxe ×1 – Sword ×1 – Dagger ×2]
Zira walked up and picked up the long, slender spear. She gave it a twirl. "Feels good."
Garin grabbed one of the axes. "Heavy, but balanced."
The kids stood nearby, eyes wide. Rena tugged on Caelen's shirt.
"Can we have one too?" she asked. "Just small ones?"
Caelen looked at Dorgrim.
The dwarf scratched his beard. "Little daggers, eh? Hmm... doable."
He got to work again. Half an hour later, he handed over two small but sharp daggers.
"These aren't toys," he said, handing them to Rena and Miko. "Don't poke each other."

The kids held them with both hands, amazed.
"You'll need practice," Caelen said.
"I can train them," Zira offered, stepping forward. "Simple drills first. Nothing dangerous."
Dorgrim nodded. "Good idea. Blades are only useful if you know how to use 'em."
The kids stood up straighter, clearly excited.
Zira gave a small smile. "Alright. First lesson after lunch."
Borin pointed at Caelen. "You need anything else, chief?"
"Eventually," Caelen said. "Tools for building, armor maybe. But this is a good start."
The forge crackled. Smoke rose into the sky.
Later that day, the villagers gathered near the open field behind the houses.
Zira stood before Rena and Miko, both holding their daggers.
"Feet apart," she said. "Hold it steady. You're not waving it around like a stick."
They copied her posture. Caelen, Garin, and the dwarves watched nearby.
Zira showed them a few basic moves. Step forward, pull back, keep balance.
Rena stumbled once. Miko dropped his dagger in the grass. But they kept trying.
"Not bad," Zira said after a few tries. "You'll get better."
The sun began to set. The sky turned orange. Dorgrim tossed a log on the fire.
"I forgot how good it feels to work metal," he said. "Thanks, lad."
Caelen smiled. "Thank you."
He looked around. His village had changed so much. A forge, skilled help, weapons. Even the kids had started training.
The future felt a little more secure.
Borin belched loudly. "So what's next? You gonna build a castle?"
Caelen laughed. "One step at a time, Borin. One step at a time."
