Chapter 98: A mysterious note

Cyrus, who had been in an urgent meeting with his people, his gaze dark and cold, almost as if he would snap and kill someone the next second, shifted in his place when he suddenly started feeling hot.

The mark on his neck was itching, and his manhood started twitching. The images of how he wanted to bend Amelia over and fuck her senseless started closing his mind, distracting him from the important matter.

Feeling helpless by the sudden arousal, he glared at his wolf.

"Sylas, I swear if this is you, you will get into big trouble. This is not the time to think about such things. I understand your love for your wife, but–" Cyrus started, but his wolf looked at him warily before he could continue his scolding.

"Hey, stop blaming me without proof. It’s not me. I am not thinking about those things. I know what kind of torture it would be without her here," Sylas confesses.

Cyrus narrowed his brows.

If it wasn’t his wolf, then how come he was feeling so aroused out of the blue?

He was sure he was concentrating on the matter and not letting his mind wander otherwise... 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

"Maybe it’s our wife," Sylas smirked.

Cyrus’s gaze darkened at the thought.

What was she doing that she was thinking such naughty thoughts, which was making him hard here?

It was all because of the mark he bore now that he felt such things to this extreme.

Cyrus’s expression turned uglier, and Gregory cleared his throat. Sweat beads appeared on his forehead even in the air-conditioned room.

At the same time, after evening her clothes and disheveled look, Amelia walked to the canteen and was about to sit when a second-year student walked to her.

"Hey, Amelia?" He asked.

Derrick raised his brows when he saw the envelope in his hand.

"What is this? A proposal?" He teased her.

Jennifer’s gaze immediately went to Amelia to see her reaction.

"Yes?" Amelia asked, confused, unfazed by Derrick’s words.

"An old man gave this to you. He couldn’t enter the University because he isn’t a direct family member and said only you should open it," The boy said.

Amelia furrowed her brows and took the envelope.

"Thank you," she said, and she stuffed the envelope in her purse.

Food was more important at the moment. She sat down to eat.

"Aren’t you going to read it?" Aaron asked, equally interested.

"You should see it. What if it’s just a new trick to give his letter to you?" Derrick asked, his gaze flickering to Ryan with a smirk.

Amelia hummed and pulled out the envelope before tearing it.

It was a letter indeed.

Not a proposal letter. But just a piece of a handwritten note.

"They don’t know the entire truth of that night. My time is coming. It’s related to the hatred that is buried deep in their hearts. I can only contact you because I don’t want to die. I saw what happened that night all those years ago, and I am the only witness who survived the massacre that got his mother...and the second child...it’s alive,"

Amelia didn’t understand what the note was all about and what that person was talking about when they mentioned that night, but the moment she read words like massacre of mother and second child, she knew exactly what this night was about.

After all, she learned about it recently.

Without looking at anyone or waiting for their reaction, Amelia rushed out of the canteen to find the old man who had given her this letter.

However, no matter where she looked, she couldn’t find the person. As she returned to the large gates, the guard stopped her.

"Student Amelia? An old man came here a few minutes ago and said you would be looking for him. Here is the number he dropped if you want to contact him," The guard said.

Amelia’s eyes beamed, and she thanked the guard before taking the note.

She returned to the canteen, looking at all the curious gazes awkwardly.

"That man said he knew something about my mother and the second child," Amelia said as Aaron took the note from her.

He furrowed his brows.

"Are you sure it’s legit and worth it? Everyone knows the truth about that night," Aaron said.

Amelia smiled bitterly.

Of course, everyone knew about the truth of the death of her mother and twin brother.

But what about Cyrus’s mother? Were they really sure that was Cyrus’s mother and that second child was his brother? Because by the time they got the body, it had swollen beyond recognition due to water.

The only thing that confirmed it was the locket around Gloria’s neck.

"I don’t know. I just wanted to know what he knew and wanted to talk about. That’s it. I am not holding much hope either," Amelia said, looking at the note in her hand.

Hannah returned home frustrated by her broken hand and inability to do simple tasks. In anger, she threw the vase on the floor.

The sharda flew around, the loud noise catching Jessica’s attention, who ran to her room.

"Hannah, dear, what’s wrong?" Jessica looked at her daughter with an anxious expression.

Hannah messed her hair in rage, clenching and pulling at them.

"I am going insane, Mom. Why did the plan not work? She should’ve been dead. Rather, she walks around like nothing’s wrong while I suffer here. Nothing like this would’ve happened if you had attended the ball with me, Mom," Hannah said.

Jessica understood her daughter’s frustration.

But it wasn’t something she could control.

Jessica told Hannah she could not attend any event with Thames’s side because Amelia had yet to turn eighteen.

Amelia’s mother’s grandfather set up this healer community. When that man died, he gave the property, the laboratory, and the right to make decisions to that woman.

That woman had been a bane of their existence since the very beginning. That was why her father never came out with his affair, because he couldn’t afford to lose the position of the leader of the healer’s group of the west.

That woman cunningly named everything she had to her babies. She had planned for all three of them to die, the mother and her two babies.

However, for some reason, Amelia survived, and their plans failed.

Now, they must wait until Amelia is eighteen to legally take everything from her. That is why they must continue their pretense of a happy family with her.

Hannah’s eyes darkened at the thought.

It was always Amelia. Why does everything good go to her only? What kind of luck was this girl born with?

She clenched her fists before taking a deep breath. It was just a month before she would turn eighteen.

She only needed to hear that wretched girl for one more month.

The thought gave her a little satisfaction, and she breathed in relief.

"Fine. I won’t make a mess till then, but that doesn’t mean I will let her walk away with what that beast did to me," Hannah said.

Jessica nodded in understanding.

"It’s okay, sweetheart. I am with you in this," Jessica said, her gaze distant as she thought about everything she had done to get Amelia’s mother out of the way, too.
