Reborn as the Villain's Wife, I Shine in 80s-Chapter 488: How are Jiang Sizhao and Jiang Sichun doing?
The morning light was bright outside the window.
Still half-asleep, Tian Sangsang felt a hand gently rubbing her belly a few times.
Warmth filled her heart. She opened her eyes and indeed saw Jiang Jinghuai’s face.
He withdrew his hand and said softly, "Sleep a little longer. I’ll go make breakfast."
"Wait, don’t go yet." Tian Sangsang grabbed his hand, placed it back on her belly, and said emotionally, "Let’s pick a name for the baby."
Jiang Jinghuai looked at her belly for a few moments, thought seriously for a while, and then said with a complex expression, "If it’s a girl, let’s name her Jiang Nianchun; if it’s a boy, Jiang Nianzhao."
Tian Sangsang pursed her lips and stared at him, "Are you out of your mind?"
Jiang Jinghuai: "..."
She pushed his hand away. "I disagree. Think again."
Jiang Jinghuai lowered his dark eyes and said in a low voice, "If it’s a girl, Jiang Yichun; if it’s a boy, Jiang Yizhao."
Tian Sangsang let out a dry laugh and continued to oppose him, "No way! Keep thinking!"
After a moment of silence, Jiang Jinghuai stared at her belly and suggested, "If it’s a girl, Jiang Sichun; if it’s a boy, Jiang Sizhao."
Tian Sangsang burst into anger and raised her hand, as if to give him a slap.
What is this guy trying to do? Could he be any more annoying?
"Sangsang." Jiang Jinghuai suddenly hugged her, burying his head in her shoulder, and sighed deeply, "Back then, Zhao Chun was always looking out for you. I’m very grateful to him. That’s why these names feel right to me."
"Grateful? You’re not showing gratitude; you’re cursing him. If you’re really grateful, then wish him a long life. Don’t make it sound like a funeral." Tian Sangsang allowed him to hold her and pinched his waist. "Think of a proper name already!"
Jiang Jinghuai lowered his head and rested it on her shoulder.
"Don’t stay silent and act shameless like a scoundrel," she scolded.
She pushed him away, cupped his face, and kissed his cheek. Her gaze softened, filled with affection as she looked into his eyes. "Go think about it. This is your child. Why are you bringing up your friend’s name? Can you be any more immature?"
He froze for a moment, his dark eyes burning as he stared at her, and slowly replied, "Alright."
**
Tian Sangsang took off her pajamas and looked into the mirror, once again confronting her reflection. Her belly had clearly rounded out, and her waist had grown thicker, leaving no trace of her former slender figure.
"Sigh~" She touched her belly, her feelings tangled. There was joy in knowing the baby was growing, but also fear of gaining weight. Recalling her past struggle with obesity, she could still vividly feel the sting of being treated as an undesirable mess. That era had left her scarred physically and emotionally. Reflecting on it now felt surreal, almost like it hadn’t been real.
Perhaps it was the pregnancy that made her more sentimental. She no longer held on to the carefree spirit she’d once had.
She gave her head a shake, trying to toss out such thoughts. She’d realized a daunting truth recently: she had been prone to overthinking.
Overthinking was pointless.
After slipping on an orange sundress, freshening up, and stretching, she headed downstairs.
The breakfast spread was already set out on the table, and Jiang Jinghuai slightly curled his lips. "Hungry? Come and eat."
Even though she’d tasted his cooking yesterday, Tian Sangsang still felt somewhat incredulous.
Dazed, she walked slowly to the table and looked down.
It was genuinely breakfast!
A bowl of millet porridge and several small dishes. There was cold dressed wood ear mushroom salad, sunny-side-up eggs, and fried pork liver. The pork liver had been fried superbly, slightly red on the outside, cut into pieces resembling steak.
"Wait a second, am I dreaming?" Tian Sangsang rubbed her head, casting him a glance. "You made this?"
Jiang Jinghuai raised a brow. "Who else? Try it."
She sat down, took the millet porridge he handed over, picked up her chopsticks, and picked a piece of pork liver to eat.
Chewed.
Chewed some more.
Squinted her eyes.
Wow, the pork liver was crispy on the outside and tender inside; it tasted pretty good. Meeting Jiang Jinghuai’s expectant gaze, she acknowledged, "Not bad. Give me a knife and fork, and I might even believe I’m eating steak."
Jiang Jinghuai chuckled lightly, shaking his head with some helplessness. "Eat more. Once we’re done, we’ll go pick up Yanyan together." With that, he sat across from her and started eating as well.
Tian Sangsang murmured in agreement, took a sip of millet porridge, then hesitated before saying, "I think maybe I should keep making the meals from now on—or we could hire an auntie to help with cooking and cleaning?"
"Honestly, you doing this feels so strange to me. Like a model suddenly becoming a chef. And a soldier’s hands should hold a gun, not kitchen tools. Your sudden tenderness feels like a spring breeze sweeping over me. I’m not used to it and even feel a bit overwhelmed."
It felt so unreal, as if it might disappear the next moment. If it were destined to vanish, she thought it better to have never experienced it—then it wouldn’t hurt.
Jiang Jinghuai smiled bitterly and gazed deeply at her. "How could it be strange? You’ll get used to it in time."
The truth was, he hadn’t done enough for her in the past. He’d believed that loving her meant hurting her deeply, which had made her unfamiliar with his kindness now. What kind of husband would make his wife feel overwhelmed when he treated her well? Wasn’t that his failure?
Well, she thought, if there was free help to take advantage of, she’d be foolish not to. Especially now that she’d been lazier since getting pregnant. This queen-like treatment made her heart flutter with joy, and Tian Sangsang couldn’t hide the delight blooming across her face.
Still, she deliberately glared at him. "Speak up. Why are you suddenly being so nice to me? Did you do something bad and feel guilty about it?"
"I did do something bad." He pressed his lips together, his smile fading, his gaze profound. "I hope you’ll give me a chance to make up for it."
Tian Sangsang froze, already knowing what he meant.
"Looks like I’m just benefitting from the baby." She remarked.
"No, the baby is benefitting from you," Jiang Jinghuai said in a deep voice.
Tian Sangsang blinked, "Alright then. Do whatever you want; I won’t stop you." Honestly, it was kind of amusing to see Jiang Jinghuai acting so domestic.
After breakfast, Jiang Jinghuai cleaned up the dishes, and the couple walked out hand in hand.
As they reached the door, Tian Sangsang suddenly exclaimed, "Oh no, I forgot to drink milk! It seems I didn’t drink any last night either!" She began to head back inside, only to stop mid-step and tap her forehead. Wait—there isn’t even any milk here.
"Don’t panic." Jiang Jinghuai steadied her and asked gently, "Do you want milk?"
"No." Tian Sangsang replied, "I just had a habit of drinking milk every day. It became second nature. Last night, it was because..." she trailed off, embarrassed, unwilling to finish the sentence.
Jiang Jinghuai silently took note. He’d go to the market later to buy fresh milk. Watching her furrowed brows, he smiled softly and comforted her, "Don’t worry, Sangbao. Skipping once or twice won’t make a difference."
Tian Sangsang opened her mouth, almost blurting out the truth. The milk wasn’t milk—it was something white. What was up with the original owner of this body, anyway? The original story never explained why someone who was Asian had become so dark. Probably because she was a throwaway character, and the author didn’t bother to clarify—it was such an obvious plot hole.
She raised her eyes to meet Jiang Jinghuai’s handsome face, his deep, slightly upturned phoenix-like eyes.
