Sylus monitored his mother and Erica for a while.

Seeing that they were still conscious, he turned his attention back to his father, who was standing a short distance away from him.

Even though she was frightened by the presence of the king, Zani did not back down; she still stood in front of Sylus, willing to protect him at all costs.

Martin examined her.

Sigh.

"Alfred, get rid of her," he ordered.

"As you wish."

Alfred wasted no time.

In the blink of an eye, he appeared in front of Zani and grabbed her by the neck.

Of course, Zani fought back.

She spat in his eye, causing Alfred to stumble backward and release Zani.

As soon as she touched the ground, Zani wanted to zoom forward, only for Sylus to hold her by the hand.

He pulled her close and immediately covered her eyes, then whispered something to her.

Until Sylus uttered,

"You are deep in slumber."

Martin was surprised by this—and strangely impressed as well.

"So you can use your sister’s star blessing. Interesting."

"What can I say? I came prepared," Sylus replied, still holding Zani in his arms.

"You’ve caused a lot of trouble, my son. I hope you are ready to face your punishment as well."

Sylus spoke back, "Father, if you tell me there is a good reason as to why you used your authority on Mother and what you ordered her to do, I will believe you. All I want is an explanation. Why are you against me waking the first queen from her slumber?"

Martin locked gazes with Sylus.

"How ugly, sentiment. How many times have I told you,feelings hold no place when re—"

"Enough with the bullshit! I don’t care! Never did! What did you do to my mother? I want answers!" Sylus yelled.

For a brief second, Martin fought the urge to punch Sylus in the face.

To think his own son would have the nerve to scream at him.

Then again, that is the way of an Astrodial.

Martin snapped his finger, his eyes now taking on a red glow.

"You’ve done well, but I refuse to entertain you any longer. As of this moment, I order you to forget everything regarding the first queen. You are never to question my judgment, be it false or unjust. Go on and continue as you are supposed to; that is all. Do you understand me?"

The authority of the king—Martin’s star blessing.

Fortunately, Sylus had already prepared for this.

Martin turned around, about to head back to his throne.

"Was this how you manipulated Mother, too?"

Shocked to hear what Sylus said, Martin turned around.

"I order you to obey me!" Martin swayed his hand to the side, his voice filled with apprehension.

Zani kept her eyes closed, standing behind Sylus.

But despite how many orders Martin gave, Sylus was still unaffected by them all.

Martin took a step back after he realized what had happened.

Sylus had obtained his star blessing.

"It’s over, Father. This isn’t a battle you can win."

"I am the King of Verdenez! I cannot be bested by my own son! You may have gotten my ability, but that is the best you can do. I can still kill you if I wish to. What’s a few more years? I’ll do it all again—make another kid."

Sylus shook his head, and then, right after, his eyes took on a purple glow.

Martin accidentally made eye contact.

He spoke.

Before Martin knew it, he was on his knees, unable to move a single muscle in his body.

His eyes also took on the same purple glow.

Normally, the king’s authority far outweighs the queen’s, but in this case, it would seem Martin had no choice but to obey.

For the first time, Martin knelt before someone, his face filled with rage and fear.

"H...OW!!! How?!!! Answer me, Sylus!!!"

Sylus stared down at him, not a single hint of pity in those cold eyes.

"You always speak well about the Star Catalyst, but you never really understood what it was capable of. No one did. It was rare, only obtained by the first king; as such, you all held it in high value. Wonderfully so, I shall show you what it is capable of."

"Alfred!!! Guards!!! Guards!!!"

Sylus sighed.

"How ugly..." he mocked. "My summons have taken care of every guard outside the throne room. There is no one coming to save you, Father. No one."

Martin frowned, helpless, unable to do anything.

"Is this how you choose to repay me? After everything I have done for you? I made you!"

"I know."

"I blessed you!"

"That is also true," Sylus moved forward, one hand on his father’s head. "And you used me as well. But I never complained, because I needed time to be ready for this confrontation. Every book, every story, every accomplishment to make you proud was all for this moment."

Sylus’s eyes glowed red.
