Reborn as the Third Prince: To Build and Conquer my way to Royalty.-Chapter 51: I can wake the first queen.
Chapter 51: I can wake the first queen.
Hearing Sylus’s choice came as a shock to everyone.
It hit Zani the most, mainly because the land he mentioned happened to be where she grew up during her childhood before coming to the castle.
As for his parents, they expected him to pick a territory that was already successful.
Once a territory had been picked, the heirs would have to rule over it until the current king passed the throne.
It was only wise to pick the land that would offer less stress.
Narrowing his gaze, Martin asked, "Is there any reason why you chose to pick that land specifically?"
"Yes, Father. I would like to challenge myself rather than have everything thrown at me. If I am to be a better king, then this is the path I must take."
His response placed a smile on Martin’s face.
It was too easy.
The kingdom had seven major regions, each one of which was ruled by dukes, who were second only to the king himself.
Within this region were smaller lands, including the town of Liyue, which was governed by Count Uama.
If Sylus had chosen a region, he would have gotten it, but to think he would choose to rule over the town itself!
"Very well. Alfred will handle all the paperwork, and you’ll be set to go."
Standing still as a rock, Zani could barely believe what she was hearing.
Lord Sylus was going to come and rule over the town where she grew up? Where her mother had lived all her life?
Never in a million years did she imagine Sylus would pick the town of Liyue of all places.
There were other, more productive lands; the town was practically a wasteland, with very few noble houses.
"Sorry, Father, I also have another request."
Martin was interested.
"You can ask for anything; you deserve it."
"Can I have a few moments to see the first queen?"
Once again, Sylus managed to catch everyone off guard with his words.
"W-what are you asking about, my son..." Elizabeth spoke, seemingly awestruck.
Martin didn’t need to say anything since Elizabeth had already spoken for him.
Even Zani was stressing out, knowing the kind of thing her lord was capable of doing.
"Sorry, I should have made it clear; I have a way to cure the first queen and wake her up."
"Young prince?" Alfred was stunned by what he was hearing.
Though he couldn’t read his father’s mind, he could still tell his father was battling with several emotions at the moment.
And there was a reason for this.
Because of his taste for knowledge, Sylus, for the past years, has been studying the stories surrounding the first queen, Layla.
Layla gave birth to Erica when Lucas was only four years old, and then she mysteriously fell into a coma a few months after that.
It just so happened that Elizabeth would give birth to Sylus a few months later, leading to the following year, and then get married to Martin.
Logically, it made no sense.
’That could only mean one thing... my mom was pregnant while Martin was still married to the first queen. His mother never admitted to ever being the king’s concubine, so how?’
The only thing of the many questions Sylus was unsure of was how much exactly his mother knew about all this.
After a while of deep silence, Martin finally decided to speak.
"Is this some kind of joke, Sylus?" free𝑤ebnovel.com
"Oh no, Father, I am very serious about this. See, I have always wondered why you never allowed anyone to speak about the first queen. Initially, I thought she was some kind of monster, but from the stories I gathered around, everyone seemed to have nice things to say about her.
Other than the fact that she was slowly going crazy."
Sylus placed one hand on his waist.
"Then I thought, maybe you loved her too much, and the thought of having a reminder of her would throw you off your game. There was only one tiny issue with that: you are not the type to love anyone; you’re not capable of it."
"Sylus!" Elizabeth yelled, "What has gotten into you?"
He looked at his mother and then sighed.
Her confusion was valid.
"Tell me the truth, Father, what really happened to the first queen?" Sylus scratched the back of his head. "Listen, I mean no disrespect, but if I am going to part ways, I need to be sure where I stand and clear my mother’s name to the public. Were you involved in putting the first queen in a coma?"
Alfred’s eyes sank, shocked that Sylus would say such a thing.
Both Erica and Zani had the same reaction, their gazes locked on Sylus, scared on his behalf.
Still, despite the reaction on everyone’s face, Martin was calm.
"For the sake of argument, how could I have done that? And why would I?"
"That’s what I want to know as well," Sylus replied. "You gave birth to me in the 36th O’l year, a few months after Erica was born. By that logic, my mother should have been pregnant during your marriage to the first queen. You cheated? And tried to hide it by—"
"Sylus! I am so sorry, Your Majesty, I don’t think he—" Elizabeth stood up from where she was seated and sprinted towards her son.
"You don’t have any memory of that, do you, Mother?" Sylus looked at her with pity.
Stopping in the middle of the throne room, Elizabeth looked at Sylus as though she was going to burst into tears any second.
"Y-you have it all wrong, my son."
"Then tell me what I have got wrong."
She looked to the side. "Your father... your father received a revelation from the priestess, a means to shorten your birth to align with the stars and raise your chances of getting a powerful star blessing. We never told you this because we didn’t want you to know your birth was influenced by magic."
"Was that what he told you?"
Elizabeth was confused.
"What do you mean? You’re not making any sense right now. What could have possibly been—"
"You are under the influence of Father’s command."
