Reborn as the Sweetheart of a Paranoid Boss-Chapter 438: Cole Vaughn’s True Nature
Sloane Hawthorne’s face was somewhat pale. She took the water that Selena Kensington handed her and drank a sip, nodding slightly.
There was still a hint of lingering fear in her eyes.
Besides Sterling Norwood and Silas Sinclair, she had never seen such an aura in anyone else.
But the assertiveness in Sterling Norwood and Silas Sinclair was restrained; they would never casually release their powerful aura.
Yet the aura around Cole Vaughn seemed uncontrollable, naturally emanating from him.
With an intensely aggressive nature.
This made the inexperienced Sloane Hawthorne feel a sense of oppression for a moment.
"Sister, Cole Vaughn he..."
Bringing up Cole Vaughn, Sloane Hawthorne paused and said, "He’s not acting; it’s clearly his true colors!"
Especially Cole Vaughn’s gaze, indifferent and solitary, looking at them as if they were ants.
This was the demeanor Quincy Goodman displayed in the play, but it was also how Cole Vaughn genuinely viewed them.
In his eyes, they truly seemed like ants.
Feeling the danger from Cole Vaughn, Sloane Hawthorne was immediately on guard.
Selena Kensington thought for a moment: Cole Vaughn’s blatant use of his dominant aura to suppress Sloane Hawthorne and himself was obviously not feasible.
Perhaps they could hold on for a while, but whether they could endure the remaining scenes was uncertain.
For a while, Selena Kensington was quite curious about what Cole Vaughn had gone through.
Clearly the same age as her, yet possessing such a powerful aura.
"Take a rest first, I’ll go talk to him."
After pondering for a while, Selena Kensington said this.
There was some worry in Sloane Hawthorne’s eyes, "Sister, be careful."
"Don’t worry, he won’t hurt me."
Selena Kensington smiled and then turned to find Cole Vaughn.
If Cole Vaughn really wanted to harm her, he wouldn’t have agreed to play Quincy Goodman.
Nor would he have saved her at the moment when the hoisting machine fell.
So, regardless of why Cole Vaughn came to her, as long as he posed no threat to her, she could ignore it.
Everyone has their own secrets; she doesn’t need to forcefully inquire.
Selena Kensington approached, "How does it feel? Are you getting used to it?"
Cole Vaughn heard Selena Kensington’s words and nodded casually.
He didn’t find it difficult at all; after all, he was just being himself.
Selena Kensington smiled and jokingly said, "I didn’t expect your aura to be so overwhelming."
Cole Vaughn, hearing this, narrowed his eyes slightly, exuding an aura of authority without anger.
But his words were still calm, "Do you want me to restrain it?"
Faced with the aura emanating from Cole Vaughn, many people nearby instinctively stepped back, but Selena Kensington seemed unaffected and remained composed.
Even the smile on her face did not change.
Hearing Cole Vaughn’s question, she nodded, "Yes."
She admitted it straightforwardly.
Upon hearing her decisive answer, a flicker of emotion crossed Cole Vaughn’s eyes.
Even his overwhelming aura seemed to diminish significantly.
"Why?"
He asked.
Selena Kensington smiled and explained, "It’s simple, they are ordinary people, unlike you."
Within Cole Vaughn, his blood and nerves seemed to tremble with a sort of excitement.
"You mean, in your eyes, I’m special?"
He asked this question.
Selena Kensington admitted, nodding, "Yes."
Her admission gave Cole Vaughn a fleeting sense of elation.
His lips even instinctively tried to form a smile, but lacking practice, it looked awkward.
A smile uglier than a cry.
In her eyes, he was special.
This realization excited Cole Vaughn more than the thrill of destruction.
"I know your background is not simple. Regardless of your reasons for coming to me, as long as you play Quincy Goodman well, I won’t interfere with anything else."
"The malice in your eyes and the aura of blood around you make people feel terrified, even wanting to escape you."
"But with me, you’re just special in that sense."
Selena Kensington stated.
She had no need to delve into Cole Vaughn’s background or identity.
He just needed to perform well as Quincy Goodman.
Upon hearing this, Cole Vaughn hid the excitement and tremors in his eyes, looking at Selena Kensington, "What if I told you I am utterly villainous and unscrupulous?"
When Selena Kensington heard Cole Vaughn’s words, she neither looked panicked nor stepped back.
She shrugged, "What a coincidence, I also do whatever it takes to achieve my goals."
In her past life, was she not just like this?
Using whatever means were available to reach her objectives.
Ultimately struggling for three months before her dark side erupted in suicide.
"But..."
Selena Kensington’s tone shifted.
She looked at Cole Vaughn, her gaze calm and rational, "My ruthlessness has principles and purpose."
"But you... I’m sorry, all I see in you is lifelessness."
"You don’t have a purpose, you seem to merely be consuming your life."
After finishing, Selena Kensington gently patted Cole Vaughn’s shoulder, "Rest for a while and then continue shooting."
After that, Selena Kensington left.
Leaving Cole Vaughn with a trace of confusion in his eyes.
Lifelessness?
Cole Vaughn hadn’t heard such a thing in a long time.
Neither subordinates nor others, not even his foster father, would ever say this to him.
He only needed to follow his foster father’s orders, lurking, or assassinately targeting others.
He was like a cold machine without emotions.
Only aware of following orders.
This seemed to be the trajectory of his life.

After Selena Kensington talked to Cole Vaughn, he really did restrain his aura.
At the very least, Sloane Hawthorne no longer felt so oppressed around Cole Vaughn.
Without Cole Vaughn’s overwhelming presence, the shooting progressed much faster today.
They managed to film several scenes by the morning.
When it was time for the midday break.
The crew could indulge once again in the meals delivered from Serenity Gardens.
"Sigh, the meal times are what I look forward to the most these days..."
"Yes indeed, the Serenity Gardens’ food has bewitched me so much that when I go home during the break, regular food seems tasteless..."
"It’s such a pity, when I told my wife the work meals are from Serenity Gardens, she didn’t believe me!"
"Gosh, same with my wife! She said I’m daydreaming!..."
"This is all thanks to Director Kensington’s connections, no other crew gets this kind of treatment..."
The crew was thoroughly satisfied with their work owing to the meals from Serenity Gardens.
Though their supervisor’s demands were high, the hard work was rewarding.
Besides, with such excellent perks, who wouldn’t like it?
As the crew discussed, the waiter from Serenity Gardens brought in the meals.
The crew eagerly lined up to get their lunch.
A waiter from Serenity Gardens headed toward Sloane Hawthorne.
"Miss Hawthorne, this chestnut cake was ordered specifically for you by Mr. Sinclair."
The words from the Serenity Gardens waiter surprised Sloane Hawthorne.
And it drew the attention of others on set.
