Reborn as the Sweetheart of a Paranoid Boss-Chapter 420: I Won’t Cue You
So as not to disturb the two performers on set, Selena Kensington whispered close to Cole Vaughn to make sure he could hear her.
A sudden fragrance mingled with Cole Vaughn’s breath, causing a momentary disruption.
He slightly turned his head away but then unobtrusively frowned before leaning back.
"Much better."
He replied to her blandly.
But at this moment, his heart was not at peace.
It was as if something had dripped into the ocean of his heart, causing ripples.
Though small, they could not be ignored.
Selena Kensington didn’t notice his minor reactions and nodded reassuringly upon hearing his reply.
"Then I’m relieved."
She wasn’t too worried about Cole Vaughn’s scenes in the beginning since he could perform naturally.
Cole Vaughn’s eyes flashed slightly.
He remained silent.
Selena Kensington, concerned that Cole Vaughn might not be familiar with certain set precautions, explained them to him in detail.
"When you go onstage, you don’t need to mind the equipment surrounding you; the camera will follow you."
"If you really can’t adjust, you can tell me."
Selena Kensington had once explained these precautions to Sloane Hawthorne.
At that time, Sloane sat beside her just like this.
However, Cole Vaughn was ultimately different from Sloane Hawthorne.
He showed no passion for this career.
He was always cold and enigmatic.
To outsiders, he even incited a sense of fear.
Many crew members were wary of him, not daring to get too close.
Only Selena Kensington was completely unaffected by him, speaking to him calmly. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
This realization caused Cole Vaughn to pause.
Selena Kensington seemed indifferent to his true nature and his background; she simply treated him as the actor playing Quincy Goodman.
This realization made Cole Vaughn’s heart lightly flutter before suddenly becoming still again.
Because he was awakened, realizing that in her heart, he was no different from anybody else.
That’s why she spoke to him so ordinarily.
Ripples appeared in his mind, which had been as calm as dead water, as hidden excitement told him.
He wanted to be special.
Special enough for her to clearly see his reflection in her eyes.
Special enough so she wouldn’t treat him with the politeness and distance she showed others.
Anonymous desires grew rampant within him, starting to occupy Cole Vaughn’s thoughts.
Cole Vaughn felt long-forgotten emotions stirring within him, causing him to lower his head and gasp softly.
How long had it been since he felt desire.....
He couldn’t remember, but in this moment, he clearly felt he wanted to be special to her.
Just as Cole Vaughn wanted to reach out and grasp Selena Kensington, the assistant director shouted ’Cut!’
The shout brought Cole Vaughn out of his thoughts.
He stared at his hand, which had already reached out slightly.
After a moment, he pursed his lips and withdrew his hand.
Meanwhile, Selena Kensington had already gotten up and headed to the middle of the set.
Cole Vaughn could only watch as Selena moved farther away from him.
His gaze grew increasingly obscure.
Selena Kensington went to the set’s center and spoke with Sloane Hawthorne and Harvey Vance about the points to note from the scene just performed.
"Sloane, raise your chin slightly, yes, and make your gaze sharper."
"As for Harvey, be more composed."
"Alright."
Sloane Hawthorne and Harvey Vance agreed.
Selena Kensington nodded, saying, "Let’s take a break first, adjust, and then continue."
Following that, it was break time on set.
Selena Kensington returned to the previous position.
Seeing Cole Vaughn watching her, Selena was somewhat puzzled, "What’s wrong?"
"...Nothing."
Cole Vaughn struggled internally for a few seconds before giving up.
He needed to restrain himself...
Now is not the time...
Hearing this from Cole Vaughn, Selena didn’t ask further.
During the break, a crew member walked in.
She was holding a bouquet of flowers as she entered.
She walked up to Sloane Hawthorne, who was rehearsing with Harvey Vance, "Miss Hawthorne, these flowers are for you."
The crew’s eyes were drawn by the worker’s words, and they all looked over.
It was a large bouquet of white roses, pristine blossoms, with a few teardrops on them.
An oval shape, the flowers arranged like an umbrella, white petals overlapping densely.
Seemingly freshly picked, the petals were delicate, without any yellowing.
Sloane Hawthorne stared silently at the flowers for a few seconds.
Then she accepted them, "Thank you."
Harvey Vance joked beside her, "Sloane, you’re quite something, having admirers send you flowers."
Sloane Hawthorne pursed her lips slightly, "It could be a fan..."
Harvey was just casually speaking, and upon hearing Sloane say this, he didn’t think much of it.
Not far away, Selena Kensington noticed Sloane’s expression and instinctively took out her phone, searching for the language of white roses.
Pure love.
Fans wouldn’t send white roses to Sloane Hawthorne, so did Sloane truly have an admirer?
Selena was a bit surprised and walked over.
"Do you know who sent them?"
Sloane saw Selena approaching, paused, then shook her head.
The sender didn’t say who sent them, only a card was in the bouquet.
It read: Pay attention to safety while filming.
It seemed normal, so Sloane said a fan sent them, and Harvey didn’t think otherwise.
Such words are usually spoken by fans.
"Hmm? Seems like you have a very caring fan..."
Selena spoke with a teasing tone.
Sloane lowered her head somewhat awkwardly, "Sister, don’t tease me..."
Hearing this from Sloane, Selena didn’t tease further.
Then filming resumed.
There were few retakes in the later scenes.
The morning’s scenes quickly wrapped up.
By noon, it was break time on set.
Sloane Hawthorne walked back to the rest room alone.
She glanced around; there weren’t many people.
Then she looked at the bouquet of white roses on the table.
She sighed and picked up her phone to send a message to someone.
[Sloane]: You sent the flowers, didn’t you?
It took a while for Sloane to receive a reply.
[Silas]: Do you like them?
Sloane was momentarily speechless.
[Sloane]: No need to send them later, your antics to mess with me are rather weak.
[Silas]: ?
[Sloane]: To put it simply, sister didn’t cue you, don’t waste time.
After sending this, Sloane turned off her phone.
And began to tidy up her appearance.
If Selena Kensington saw Sloane’s chat, she would surely notice.
The girl who behaved obediently, even shy around her, showed the presence of a neighborhood gang leader when facing another person.
Meanwhile, in The Empire’s office, Silas Sinclair frowned in confusion upon receiving Sloane’s final message.
Startling the person reporting in front of him.
Did he make a mistake somewhere?
Why did the leader look so terrifying!
The person nervously finished the report.
