Reborn As Divine Doctor to Rule the World-Chapter 90 - 91: Thrown into Prison
Chapter 90: Chapter 91: Thrown into Prison
Shao He understood his kindness and shook her head, “No need, I can solve it myself.”
Pei Huaian’s expression darkened as he thought about how Shao He had asked him to treat her at home, presumably because she didn’t want to get entangled with him in public and cause trouble.
“Don’t worry, I won’t come to Jian Hall to find you in the future, so as to not trouble you.”
Shao He heard the dejection in his tone, suppressed the odd feeling in her heart, and shrugged indifferently, “It doesn’t matter.”
Pei Huaian changed the subject and remembered how Xiao Linzhang had been crying at night; he began to ask about the child’s recent condition.
Shao He glanced at the pitch-black sky outside the window and replied, “Xiao Linzhang is quite well-behaved now, but he still cries several times every night, though it’s nothing serious.”

“He has gained a lot of weight recently, feeling heavier than before when held,” Pei Huaian said, his eyes softening greatly when he mentioned the child.
Shao He turned to look at him, recalling that Yan Ze had mentioned Pei Huaian’s mother had died early, and she imagined the pitiful scene of a child unloved by father or mother, softening her attitude somewhat.
“Indeed, he’s growing fast.”
The two chatted casually until dusk fell, and then Pei Huaian left, reluctantly.
Shao He went to Xiao Linzhang’s room and, upon seeing Nanny Zhang feeding goat milk to the awakened Xiao Linzhang, could not help but express her surprise, “Where did this goat milk come from?”
“To answer Miss, it was Young Master Pei who ordered his men to deliver some fresh goat milk every day without fail, and today he also brought some nourishing bird’s nest and ginseng. Qingxia is already stewing them, and was thinking about serving it to Miss later,” Nanny Zhang placed the goat milk on the table and took out a handkerchief to wipe the milk stains from the corners of Xiao Linzhang’s mouth.
Shao He’s eyes lowered, and a mix of emotions began to grow within her. Pei Huaian seemed a bit too good to her and the child, causing her to overthink—could it be…
No, it couldn’t be. He was a prince of the nation, how could he have any thoughts about her, a woman who had borne a child? She must be overthinking it.
Besides, with his current status, he certainly wouldn’t lack for women.
Shao He’s gaze fell on Xiao Linzhang’s cheeks as he lay in her arms, looking around with big eyes. She came closer, picked him up, and kissed him, noting he seemed much better tonight than the past few days.
Since Xiao Linzhang had almost drowned as a baby and had been given adrenaline shots, he was weaker than other children and had a delicate stomach, which often caused him to cry at night.
“The young master has eaten well tonight; I didn’t dare give him too much, fearing he would feel unwell later,” Nanny Zhang commented.
“Mm, it’s better to let him eat less at night,” Shao He agreed.
Xiao Linzhang appeared quite unhappy at not having his fill, waving his chubby arms and making babbling noises that sounded very immature.
Early the next morning, as Shao He arrived at Jian Hall, a group of government officials hurried over and surrounded the place, even chasing out all the patients who were there to buy medicine.
“Do you think Jian Hall has offended someone? Why else would so many government officials suddenly show up?”
“Who knows, but the size of this operation surely means something has happened, maybe it’s even a matter of life and death.”
One of the government officials approached Shao He and said coldly, “Are you Shao He?”
“Yes, what’s the matter?” Shao He furrowed her brows at the sight of the officials.
“Imperial Physician Lu has accused you of stealing her family’s ancestral house; come with us.”
“That’s impossible. I bought my residence from someone else, and I still have the deed right here,” Shao He argued.
Yun Qian also came over to interject, “Right, government official, could there be some misunderstanding?”
Yet the official ignored them, losing patience, “Whether there is a misunderstanding or not, I don’t know. Just come with us.”
As Yun Qian was about to say more, Shao He stood up, “Alright, I’ll go with you.”
“Shao He, you…”
“It’s okay. Even if it really goes to court, I have the deed to prove my case,” Shao He interrupted Yun Qian, not wishing to cause him unnecessary trouble.
Seeing this, Yun Qian had no choice but to let go, his face fraught with worry as he watched her leave with the officials.
Imperial Physician Lu was a cunning and sly individual, not easy to handle at all, and it was uncertain whether Shao He could deal with it.
Shao He was still thinking about standing trial, but she hadn’t expected to be thrown directly into the jail.
“Shouldn’t we be going to the government office?” she asked, observing the dark and damp prison cell, sensing something wasn’t right.
Without giving her a chance to respond, the government official pushed her into the cell and locked her up.
“Illegally detaining me is against the law!” Shao He turned to escape but was too late; the cell door had already been locked with a chain.
The official looked at her with a cold smile, “You’ve offended someone you shouldn’t have. Hand over the frostbite ointment and Cold Effervescent Powder, and you shall be safe.”
“Is it Chu Yu?” Shao He speculated.
She had never wronged anyone except Chu Yu, who was intent on putting her to death. She could think of no one else.
The official didn’t answer, but smiled and said, “Think it over.”
After that, he turned and disappeared from the jail.
Shao He looked at the dilapidated jail, which lacked even a table or a chair; occasionally she could hear the chirping of rats, and she helplessly sat down against the wall.
By evening, no one had shown up, not even the official to bring food and drink.
Shao He’s stomach began growling, and she shouted through the bars, “Is anyone there? I’m going to starve!”
“Stop yelling and shut your mouth!”
Shao He paid no attention, continuing to shout until her voice became hoarse and still no one paid any attention, leading her to give up and sit down exhausted and without energy.
