Chapter 71: What’s Happening To Me?

Bending down near the bank of the oasis, Cassandra scooped up some crystal clear water in her hands and stepped to where they had grown the seed of Sensifa Tree.

Siroos came from behind her and placed his large hands under her smaller ones. Her whole body jolted from the effect, the biological changes that were occurring had turned her extremely volatile. She hated the fact that the effect of his touch had amplified.

He tipped them forward so the water dropped on the levelled ground with round stone markings to indicate the exact position.

"Sprout soon, little one," Cassandra spoke in a whisper.

Nature intrigued her, especially trees. They were her favourites, as they nurtured so much life. They were like the lungs of their world.

"You like plants? We can grow more here if you wish," Siroos asked, seeing her intrigued.

But Cassandra stepped away from him, putting distance between them and proceeded to the bank of the oasis near the marigolds.

She perched herself down and folded her legs. Placing her chin on the top of her bent knees, she began to stare into the still water. The canopy of trees provided shelter from the scorching sun and there was a hint of a gale today. It slowly rustled the leaves and disturbed the usually calm water surface.

"I wish you hadn’t given me false hope. If you had been truthful, this wouldn’t have hurt to such an extreme. Why do men like to play with the emotions of women?" She asked no one in particular, and yet her question was directed toward Siroos; he was standing right behind her with his hands behind his back.

He watched her cascading hair, they slithered like golden snakes on her back and touched the marigold bushes behind her.

"I would never play with your emotions. My feelings for you are genuine," he spoke in a disturbed voice.

"And yet you did. It’s a lonely life you have thrust me into. One day, you will move on, but there will be nowhere for me. You have shackled me to yourself." Cassandra’s chest deflated and ached so deeply.

Siroos let out a burst of air and moved his toned legs. He settled beside her with one of his legs raised while the other stretched out. He seemed like a tired man as he stared into the distance and stated in a pained voice.

"I will never abandon or betray you. We are in this together. Every woman’s scent makes me obnoxious, I don’t wish to even touch anyone else but you. The spirits inside me hiss and growl so violently whenever anyone tries to be in my proximity. They adore you." His eyes wavered to her beautiful face and all he found was misery. He had taken her peace.

"But I don’t want to be touched by you. Not anymore, so it would be advisable to keep a distance from me," she answered back, hugging herself, her arms protectively coiled around her. The emptiness inside of her had turned into a chasm and she wasn’t sure what she would do to fill it up.

"I can’t do that, Malakti. You are mine in flesh and blood," he persistently answered.

"Huh! Keep telling yourself that."

Cassandra sarcastically answered and got up, ready to head back towards her room. Being in his proximity garnered nothing but pain, and after the marking, it kept multiplying.

Siroos turned to watch her with a furrowed brow and a wounded heart.

"Stay! Please, talk to me. We can’t resolve it if you won’t speak with me," he requested, seeing her straighten up her clothes.

"It’s better if we don’t. Our existence is dangerous for each other. Advisable to resist the temptation." Cassandra began to walk back to her room. Her neck slightly ached as she began to feel extremely hot. Her lungs burnt too. She needed water and some peace.

Siroos tiredly got up and followed behind his mate. They passed through the entrance and into the naturally built corridors.

Women were going through with their daily tasks of bringing milk from the cows and camels in earthen urns. They respectfully bowed seeing their Alpha and Luna before heading in. Some congratulated them. A few kids brought wild flowers for Cassandra which she graciously accepted and placed in her hair.

She arrived back to her room with Siroos loitering behind her. Ames and Ranon had left with Faris so Cassandra was stuck with him, whether she liked it or not.

Her temperature kept rising and she didn’t understand what was going on. Cassandra quickly entered her room and rushed towards the table.

’Maybe it was the heatstroke,’ Cassandra thought, going straight for the water urn. Picking it up she removed the clay lid and brought the container to her parched lips. They were cracking up as sweat poured out of every pore in her body and soaked her dress. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Not only that, there was fire between her legs. Her core was heating up faster than a cauldron on fire.

She chugged down the water, but it did nothing. Her body was burning up as if she suddenly had a fever. She wished to tear away her dress and soak herself in icy cold water.

Her nipples itched and pained under the dress and something began to pool between her legs. She wanted to be touched, in an intimate way. Her mind began to hallucinate, conjuring up images of Siroos grinding himself against her.

Especially, the image of his huge erection was permanently etched in her brain.

"What’s wrong with me?" She yelled out in frustration.

Tears welled up in her eyes and she clutched the wooden table tightly to keep herself steady. Her other hand gripped the front of her dress while she took rapid pants to fill her lungs with oxygen. There was a heat tornado between her thighs and she couldn’t help but part her legs.

The sweet scent of her arousal hit Siroos like a splash of cold water on the hottest day of the year. He had been standing in the door watching her desperately when it dawned on him and he went stiff like a log.

He growled, his muscles tensed as the very basest primal desires took over and his feet carried him to her, unintentionally like a man possessed.

His wolf burst forward, growling and clawing, trying to be set free. He was desperate for his mate, the bond pushed between them like a taut spring letting loose. He needed to get to her.

His hand reached out for her arm, grabbing her, Siroos pulled her towards him. His touch relieved some of that pent-up frustration.

"Ahh!" Cassandra shrieked and collided with his chest, her eyes so wide that he could see the white above and below her violet part.

Her fragrance had intensified, calling him to her. The scent to mate, to complete their bonding. It was incomplete and yet they couldn’t.

"What’s happening to me?" Cassandra shuddered in his hold, his touch was calming. Like ice on her scalding skin, she wished his hands would lower and touch where it burnt the most.

Right between his legs.

"You are going into heat. Let me take care of you, Malakti," Siroos spoke through clenched teeth, trying not to inhale that inviting scent of hers.
