Chapter 116: Siroos Awakens

Siroos’s eyes wavered to people around the room. While his mother and Ranon seemed sympathetic, Faris was downright vexed. With his legs crossed at the ankles, he stood against the opposite wall, carefully watching his brother.

Sirros’s head felt so heavy as if someone had pounded it with a hammer. Feeling dizzy, he tried to sit up and Ranon was quick to help him.

Dragon was raging inside him; no matter how much he wanted to put him on a leash, he wouldn’t be discreet.

He growled in desperation.

He whimpered in emotional pain.

He howled for his true mate.

Something terrible had happened, but all his memories were hazy as if a dense fog had infiltrated his brain and messed up with his thinking, his animal spirits and his consciousness.

The last he remembered was when he met with the Elders and they offered him kehwa to drink. Sensing the eerie silence and looks of unease from his family, Siroos mumbled while clutching his head with both his hands.

"What happened?"

"How are you feeling? Is your wolf in control or does he still want to rip us apart?" Faris asked, passing a concerned look towards Ranon.

"My wolf?" Siroos pressed but he could get no recollections.

"What do you remember, Siroos?" Haylia’s comforting hand rested on Siroos’s back and she gently rubbed. Ranon stayed close as well, but Siroos could sense his approach was defensive as if he was ready to pounce in case he even moved his limbs.

"Elder Ghala called me to discuss Luna Trials, so I went to speak to him. We drank Kehwa, that’s what I remember last before waking up here. But I can’t feel any of my animal spirits, except the dragon, and he is not retreating, constantly growling like a wounded animal," Siroos explained, and Faris let out a big hefty sigh.

"You don’t remember anything?" Moving closer to his brother, he placed his hand on his arm and squeezed. His heart was a mess knowing his brother would break with the truth.

Siroos only shook his head and blankly stared at Faris, who had no roguish grin on his lips today, just saddened eyes staring back at him.

Before anyone could explain, the dragon painfully screeched again as if trying to free itself from some invisible shackles he had been bound in.

’Mate, we hurt our mate. Go to mate,’ he screeched so loudly that Siroos had to cover his ears and speak to him.

’What are you saying?’ He stared in confusion at Faris when the dragon didn’t answer him and kept on repeating the same mantra.

"Can someone tell me what the hell happened? Is Cassandra alright?" Everyone tensed at his second question, he could sense their agitation as Faris and Ranon passed a meaningful glance while Haylia’s grip tightened on his shoulder.

And then, like a dam of memories broke in his brain, and memories after memories came rushing through, memories of his actions for the past few hours.

Siroos snaked in a most painful breath as he lifted himself off his mattress and shuffled away from his beloved ones as if he had been infected with plaque.

He remembered making his way to the dungeon and telling the guards to set his mate free, to set Kela free for she had that intoxicating scent which only Cassandra carried.

He remembered grabbing her, bringing her in front of the Elders and announcing that he was taking her as his mate and would make her the mother of his children. Siroos had then brought her to his chamber and mated with her.

His skin crawled for her disgusting scent was hitting him like an offshore tidal wave which was rocking a boat, trying to sink it.

"Brother!"

"Siroos!!!" His brother and mother called out to him with concerns flashing in their eyes and voices laced with pain.

"Stay back," he painfully said, not even recognising himself in that instant. How could he take any of those steps? He was in a denial state; betrayal was yet to hit him, and then there was going to be his extinction when the memory of hurting his mate was going to surface.

Which did.

Like a wrecking storm which builds in the heart of the sea and engulfs and destroys anything that crosses its path, the agonising memory surfaced, making his dragon go insane inside his head.

The whole world turned stale; it lost its colours, charm and smells as he lived through the horrors he had committed.

Her bewildered, pained face surfaced in his mind with tears streaming down it as she tried to pull Kela away from him. He had reached out his bloody left hand and callously pushed her back as if she wasn’t his mate but a ragdoll.

Madness raged all around Siroos; his aura burst out like a blinding flame, and everyone in the room crumbled to the ground, unable to bear it.

"Cassandraaa! What have I done?" Her name was so painfully ripped from his throat and echoed all around his chamber. Siroos couldn’t help but stare at his guilty hand, the one he had laid on her. Without thinking he began to bang it against the stone wall. Trying to break every bone inside it.

"No! Brother, wait," Faris cried out, trying to fight off his suffocating aura while he crawled towards him. Ranon was in the same boat. He knew already that Siroos would lose his mind in case something happened to their Luna. Hurting her with his own had pushed him over the edge.

"Get to your brother, Faris, Haylia weakly called out. He was losing his mind and didn’t understand how lethal his aura had gotten. Before Faris could reach him Siroos got up from the floor and bolted out of his chamber, taking his aura with him.

"Shit!" Faris cried out, knowing exactly where he was going. This was not the right time to see her.

The pressure lifted off them and Faris sprinted behind him, hoping he would make it in time.
