"I’m surprised you actually let them have it, Boss," Ries commented while I was preparing lunch.

I cleared my throat, "Ahem... You make it sound like I gave them the ship... I only parked it in their hangar so that they could look at it. And don’t think I don’t know you did the same thing when we’re on the ship too."

After we got the Iridescence, Ries would sometimes spend her free time just marvelling at the Verlandi in the hangar. I didn’t really mind that so I didn’t call her out of it and in fact, I even found it cute.

Amber gave me a pointed look, "Aren’t you worried that someone might mess up your ship, Tera?"

"Oh, I’ve already taken out all the personal stuff from there so there’s no need to worry," I assured her, concentrating on the steak I was cooking in front of me. "Besides... In case there’s an attack on the station, it would be faster for me to fly out from here instead of going back to our ship."

Lea tilted her head at me, "What if someone tries to steal it, Mistress?"

"Well... I hope there’s no one dumb enough to try and do that. But if someone actually does try... Then I guess that person will probably be dead."

Yeah, I’m literally doing them a favour by allowing them to explore my ship... So if they took advantage of that, I’d kill them.

Mara leaned on the counter, "I’m more surprised that you actually agreed to do this for free, Captain."

"Oh, it’s definitely not for free. I got their Head Researcher and Head Engineer to agree to help design and build our Exo-Knights for us. In fact, we’re going to their lab to give them the specifications we want later."

Ries jumped in surprise, "Eh?!! Boss?! You got their Heads to agree to help us make our Exo-Knights?! How?!"

"I think it’s pretty evident, isn’t it? They’re also pretty big fans of the Verlandi too so they traded their cooperation for being allowed to see the ship."

Yumiko cleared her throat, "Ahem... I think it’s more than that, Mistress. I believe the fact that you fucked them played a big part in that."

I blanched as I wasn’t really sure how the others would react to me fucking those two... In fact, I didn’t even know that Yumiko knew about that.

Eventually, lunch was served and the girls were completely distracted by my food so I escaped their questioning for now.

Once we had our fill, we headed towards the lab where I had arranged a meeting with Rosalia and Friederike to discuss our Exo-Knights that they would be making for us.

When we stepped inside the lab, I found Friederike hunched over her lab desk working on some kind of machine that she had placed on the table.

Hmm... Where’s Rosalia? Is she still in the hangar looking at my ship? It’s been half a day already, you know? Doesn’t she have work to do?

Friederike noticed us as we got closer and she straightened herself to give me a nod of greeting, "You’re here, Tera. I assume the ones behind you are your crew mates?"

I nodded, "That’s right, they are the people who I trust with my life."

I heard a few moans coming from behind but I decided to ignore it and continued, "Where’s Rosalia though? I thought she was going to be here?"

"Oh she’s here, give me a moment."

She reached down and tugged at something before straightening herself again.

A few moments later, a rather dishevelled looking Rosalia appeared from below, the bunny girl wiping her mouth with the back of her sleeve while having a look of triumph on her face.

"Got you to cum didn’t I?!" She grinned.

"Yes, yes... You only managed to do that twice so you still lost."

"I could go for a third!"

"You ran out of time so you lost."

She dusted herself before beckoning towards us, "Come on then! I’m actually quite excited to hear what you have planned for your Exo-Knight! I think you might even give us some great ideas for our future models!"

She moved out from behind the table with Friederike following behind her, revealing that both of them were currently completely naked from the waist down.

There were several egg shaped chairs in the centre and Rosalia hopped into one and Friederike settled herself into the one beside her.

"Take a seat!" Rosalia gestured to the other chairs.

I immediately raised my hand, "We’re good... We’ll stand if you don’t mind..."

The rabbit girl shrugged, "Suit yourselves~ Let’s start then!! That Theresa girl already filled us in about the fact that one of your payments is to get personal Exo-Knights for your entire crew, right?"

I nodded, "Is that too much?"

Friederike brought up a screen that showed a picture of each of us in the corner of the screen, "Under normal circumstances... It would definitely be unheard of... You’re asking for six tenth generation Exo-Knights and they’re all going to be custom made... Each of these would be at the very least several tens of millions to hundreds of millions of Credits. And that’s not taking into account the cost of the weapons and equipment that will be attached to it. Multiply that by six... That’s a lot of money even for us."

Rosalia nodded, "Hmm~ Hmm~ And now both me and the goat bitch over there are getting involved which means we’re doing this at the cost of the company’s dime too! That means the cost of your Exo-Knights are going to increase exponentially!"

I frowned, "So... Are you telling me that this isn’t possible after all?"

The rabbit girl quickly shook her head, "Oh, no no no~ Like we said, ’under normal circumstances’! Your circumstances are definitely not normal, Tera! After all, you’ve given us so much data that I can safely say we would be the ones that might be the ones shortchanging you instead!"

Really? I mean... All we did was just fly those Exo-Knights around... It’s not like we gave them anything material in return right?

As though reading my thoughts, Friederike continued, "I hate to admit it... But our quality of Exo-Knights have been on the verge of plateauing for the last few years. I thought it might just be an issue with both of us not being able to churn out innovations... But now we know part of the reason is because our test pilots have turned complacent and aren’t willing to push boundaries or take risks anymore. They don’t test to push the limits, they test to only operate within the safety limits instead."

Rosalia crossed her arms, "That’s right!! And because of that, the data we get always falls below what we hope to achieve! If I had known this earlier, I would have pushed even harder to get the results instead!! But nooooo~ They tell me that we have to treat them like celebrities and treasures because only they understand the Exo-Knights because they fly it personally! What a bunch of crap!"

Huh... So if I’m not getting it wrong... Part of the reason why these two are butting heads is also because of the test pilots?

Basically the pilots weren’t giving them the expected results so these two started blaming each other for the failure?
